We have access to the lounge on 16th floor during happy hour. Food selection was not much but everything was very tasty. It's not cheap but I think I will still stay here again given the convenient location.

Check-in was smooth and efficient, with three staff members at the front desk. I was assigned Ro no noom 1505, a corner room with one double bed. I had assumed a "double" would be closer to a queen size, but that was not the case. The bed was smaller than expected, and the room itself felt quite tight--even by Hong Kong standards. That said, the essentials were solid. The Wi-Fi worked reliably, and the bathroom had strong water pressure with consistent hot water. Toiletries were from Elemis, which was a nice touch. The desk, however, was extremely small--so compact that it was difficult to sit comfortably and use it for any extended period. Daily housekeeping is available, though I chose not to use it. The TV offered a few international news channels, which I appreciated given the ongoing tensions involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran--it was helpful to stay informed. The hotel also offers breakfast, but we did not try it during this stay. Amenities are limited: the gym is quite small, and the pool was closed for maintenance at the time of our visit. The standout was the check in process and all the staff from the reception to the bellhop to the bartender and in room dining. We booked through my credit card and got a 100 usd$ credit to enjoy at the bar. Hinata the bartender was incredible to chat with and made the make delicious drinks! Phoenix at the front desk made check in so enjoyable and made sure to call and let me know the answers to my questions at check in. The included breakfast buffet was wonderful and had some of the Hk favorites I was craving including a delicious Hk style milk tea. Because we had an early flight the next morning and couldn't make the second buffet - the staff organized a complimentary in room breakfast instead which was the perfect ending to our stay in Hong Kong . Adrian and Chrissie were both particularly helpful. Both spoke very good English and were extremely patient with us rookie travelers. They assisted with everything from early to late checkout to hailing taxis to restaurant recommendations and directions, all the while multi tasking with other guests. For the price this hotel far exceeded expectations.

It's always kind of neat to see how people go about their lives. Onward, the employees were always super professional and totally helpful. Especially when I got on the wrong elevator on the way down from the laundry room on the 18th floor. Fail on my part. Yes, there are laundry facilities! Great for the long-term traveler. The hotel is close to public transportation, but we took cabs to and from the airport and a few times to go to some restaurants we all wanted to hit, as they were more convenient for our group. I could write a whole other review about the awesome nutty/cab /vans, but that's for another place and time. The other times, we hoofed it and discovered so many great bars and breweries filled with locals,expats, and tourists .After all, isn't that the best part of traveling? Bottom line, I totally liked this place. The only downside was the empty vending machine. Thought we'd be able to get water there. No big, we were surrounded by local markets. Get your water, fruit, and snacks from there.

In the lobby, they have a communal water station, which was handy, but we didn't really explore many of the other hotel facilities, so I can't comment on the gym or other amenities. Our room was fine but definitely on the smaller side, which seems pretty typical for Hong Kong. There wasn't much space to move around, and the beds were extremely small and fairly firm, so comfort may be an issue if you're taller or prefer softer mattresses. The room had a cooler box instead of a proper fridge, and based on our experience I wouldn't trust it for storing food that needs to stay cold. Overall, I'd call this an okay hotel: great for its convenient location and access to transit, but with pretty basic rooms and a few quirks that might be dealbreakers for some travelers. If you prioritize being close to the action and can live with tighter space and firm beds, it can work, but it's not a standout stay.

The building's renovation over the last decade has modernized this 4 star property, which is run by the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong. Overall, the beds are comfy, the amenities are solid, and the hotel is an excellent value. If location is everything, then this quiet stretch of Waterloo Rd is a nice departure from Nathan Rd, which is just around the corner. It is also 2 minutes from the nearest MTR station (Yau Ma Tei) and stone's throw away from Dundas St and the Ladies Market. The rooms are spacious and modern, which is a far cry from many adjacent hotels on the Kowloon and HK island side. I'm a fan of the larger beds, which were also fairly comfy and the rooms have actual views of the city and beyond. Shower and bathroom facilities were also not a shoebox, which I very much appreciated. From an amenities standpoint, it's quite generous. They have a hotel rooftop pool, along with a 24 hour fitness center, and pretty strong WiFi. Several years ago they would equip every guest with a complimentary smartphone for local calls and internet, which was unheard of. Some good news for the environmentally conscious: It is also eco-certified. As a result, they will no longer offer disposable plastic tableware or plastic bottled water. All guests are encouraged to bring their own personal toiletries as toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. will not be provided. Where they fall short is the dining options, which have been mediocre overall. City Cafe is their all-day buffet option, the Balcony is their in-house Cantonese + Dim Sum spot, Amazing Bakery is the grab-n-go option, and the Amazing is their overly fancy but subpar haute cuisine establishment. Eating off property is far more exciting (#1), but this is to be expected. Lastly the service has been good but not great. They could certainly be more efficient for check-in/check-out times and seem to be understaffed. Concierge is not exactly up to par with the luggage handling or recommendations, but this is not a a deal breaker. All in all, this place gets a big thumbs up. I had a three-week stay here during quarantine and it was a lovely experience…read more The staff was very warm, friendly and accommodating, which was nice since I've had to ask them for several item refills and also a DND in the early mornings to accommodate my US meeting schedule. I was dreading the quarantine food after hearing many stories about it, but Penta Hotel's options were plentiful and delightful, AND without MSG. Their Asian options are superior than their western options, so if I could choose again, I would've gone for all their Asian choices instead. Hint: Stay clear of the spaghetti bolognese. The only downside of the hotel was that the rooms weren't noise insulated enough, so I could hear my next door neighbors playing video games late into the night or the other neighbor singing her heart out. However, this was during a three-week quarantine, so if you are merely staying here for leisure, this may not be a problem at all. I had a nice view of Diamond Hill and enjoyed waking up to a sunrise every morning. Thank you, Pentahotel!

I was greeted by the staff at the front door after an 8 minute walk from the City flyer bus which stopped at Diamond Hill station. I had requested a shuttle service 4 days prior to arrival and received a reply which indicates the shuttle needs to be reserved 5 days in advance. No where on the site indicates such information besides that the shuttle runs from 10am-930pm. During check-in I asked the receptionist if I could get shuttled back to the airport in 6 days, she told me there is no shuttle and to use the MTR, the city flyer bus, or a taxi. REALLY? I said ok but suggested that the hotel fix what was being advertised on the website and not to mislead the consumers. The staff was friendly. The front desk receptionist had a hard time understanding what I was asking and the suggestions I made so I don't foresee much changing in the future. Got a king plus room on the 26th floor with a decent view. To power the room, a key card had to be inserted in a slot on the wall which was different. The room is decent in size, however, the lighting was a little bit too dim. The only mirror was in the restroom, I expected there to be a mirror on the outside of the restroom as one would think such a modern hotel would have. First time here, think I'll pay a little extra for a hotel that actually has a shuttle service and a bigger room.

After you flush the toilet it takes a very long time to refill the tank and it is super loud. The decor is creepy. Reminds of the hotel in the movie, The Shining. The management needs to dump a load of cash for an overhaul. It is definitely time.

It is also 2 short blocks away from a fantastic snack shack called Wah Kee. You must try it! It is also conveniently located right next to the MTR.
