REVIEWER # 13 Hong Kong is a foodie's paradise and this place is definitely one that shouldn't be skipped! Tsui Wah (TW) is popping up a lot around Hong Kong, what can I say-It's cheap and delicious! TW is a restaurant chain in Hong Kong that has luckily branched out to: Macau, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen. This place is very well known to some as the "great breakfast or late night food spot". This place was recommended by one of my San Francisco Yelper who was originally from Hong Kong. My Yelp friend Belinda C. instantly messaged me during my stay in Hong Kong and recommended this as an early morning breakfast location. Luckily, this location was not only located in Causeway Bay but it was super close to my hotel. ORDER NOW: Iced Milk Tea and the Pineapple Bun with sweet condensed milk! You won't be sorry! Those food items were recommended to me by Belinda C. and I couldn't be anymore happy with that choice! The pineapple bun is delicious! Who would have ever thought a bun with a slab of butter could taste so GO0D! Whoo! Let me just admit, it's not the healthiest food choice, trust me. As I was eating it, I had to whisper to myself, "Don't feel guilty, it's all worth it" & it was! Most of the people in the restaurant were regulars and seems like they come every day for their dose of tea. (Not a bad idea). Some of their top dish choices included, but are not limited to: King Prawns with Fried Noodles, Malaysian Beef Brisket Curry with Rice, Crispy bun served with sweet condensed milk (delicious). I definitely recommend this restaurant if and when you are in Hong Kong!

Beef Satay Ramen Noodles

Stopped by Tsui Wah for breakfast after reading about the best place to get a pineapple bun with a slab of butter in the middle of it. It exists back home in New York at different cha chan tangs, but I wanted to try it from the source. I had the set menu with satay beef over ramen noodles with my pineapple bun as well. The service here is typical Chinese, gruff and minimally helpful, but the food comes out quickly and the taste is great. For Hong Kong natives, I envy your ability to get the pineapple bun on a regular basis... sometimes I dream of the chilled butter and the sensation of sinking my teeth through the crispy sweet top of the bun, the soft bread, and through the more solid chunk of butter. Its SO DAMN GOOD!!!

Milk tea in a bottle!

Came here in the middle of the week around 2pm and was seated quickly. We wanted a light linner (that moment between lunch and dinner) and we ordered a couple of plates to share. Some buttered toast with eggs and jalapeños, noodle soup (spicy), and some seafood dish along with drinks. The food was pretty good, no complaints! The service here is typical of your waitstaff in Asia, so don't expect something spectacular. We got our orders pretty quickly, although it did take a while to get my bottled milk tea (I think they had forgotten about it, we had to ask). I really wanted to take the empty bottle with me, but I also didn't want to get arrested for that so I suggest that they sell you the bottle too, because it's so cute! Overall, it's a nice affordable place to dine at!

The sad looking wantonmee that doesn't even have veggies in it, :( and MSG soup. Booo
Sophia W.

Yesterday night I was craving for wantonmee but the wantonmee I had from Tsui Wah was disappointing , they say it's fish soup but the soup taste more like MSG to me. But to make things better, I also had their condensed milk bun, best eaten when it's hot because the bun is still crispy. Oh, if you don't want to drink milk tea at night, you can try their almond milk egg white, it taste pretty good to me :)

Tsui Wah branches are now everywhere in Hong Kong, just in Causeway bay there are 3 locations, food is always good, should give this place a try for Breakfast and Lunch.

Kam Wah Cafe is also famous for their freshly baked Pineapple Bun and Butter. Can't start your day without some HK Milk Tea and Iced Ovaltine. My son said it's a good thing the nai cha in the states are not as good because he was starting to develop an addiction. Lol. For those of you who don't know, it's made with Ceylon leaves, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The French toast was so damn delicious but a bit indulgent. I do wish I could taste more of the peanuts. My son loved his bolo bao. We also shared a hot bowl of macaroni soup with Spam and lettuce. Thinking back, I regret not trying the Spicy Satay Beef Instant Noodle. I will have to look for this back in the states. The aunties working here are just the most adorable, very kind and welcoming. One of them took the time to help us navigate the huge menu and recommended a few items. I would come back again and again if I could. I have a mad love for these iconic HK Style Cafes aka Cha Chaan Tengs. These affordable quick-paced restaurants were influenced by the city's 150 years of British rule. Aside from the classic breakfast items, they also offer many delicious rice and noodle dishes in the afternoon.

The food just hit the spot for me, bringing me right back to my childhood memories of eating this on weekend mornings at our local HK cafe. But for me it's different. A Hong Kong cafe is like heaven for a stoner who has the munchies (just to make it clear, I've never been stoned. At least not for a long time!) But I do see the appeal for someone with these cravings. Everything comes with gravy or some type of tomato sauce. They make Coke Cola ice creams floats. French toast squares with ice cream. Funky right? But we ordered: Baked Pork Chop: this was a decent version. I think one more pork chop in the entree would have made it complete. The tomato sauce with the rice was a nice blend. Mixed grill: this was my wife's entree and she didn't like it much. She said it was ok. Flat noodles: that's what it's called in the menu but I know it as Chow Fun. I always like this dish and Kam Kee makes it decent. Service was proficient and friendly. My wife said it's a three star eatery but what takes this place into four category is they put effort into the design or ambience of the cafe whereas many places don't invest in that. It's a nice looking restaurant with decently satisfying comfort food.

This place is a little hard to find because you have to walk all the way to the end of a street with a dead end and it's hidden in the corner. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious. The service was pretty good by Hong Kong standards. I ordered the scramble eggs with BBQ pork over rice and it came out in less than ten minutes! The dish looked amazing and the portion was pretty big, although I had no trouble finishing the whole thing. Hong Kong's scrambled eggs are on some other level. This spot makes them runny, and although I usually don't like my eggs runny, they tasted pretty amazing here. Doused with sweet, light soy sauce and succulent pieces of famous Chinese BBQ pork on a bed of rice, this was definitely one of the most comforting and satisfying meals here. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area! I have a new love for scrambled eggs :)

The creamy chicken macaroni soup with ham and abalone strips (and side of soft eggs with toast) made me feel like a kid again. The beef and egg sandwich, and spam and egg sandwich were exactly as expected; they came out hot and fast and in generous portions. Drinks were great too, especially the lemon tea served with real citrus slices (both hot and iced were solid), and the milk tea was as authentic as it gets. Value felt fair for the area. From the menu, tea/breakfast-style sets sit around HK$40-46, lunch plates are roughly HK$52-64, and most drinks are in the HK$18-24 range (with a few around HK$26-28), so you can order a full spread without the bill getting out of hand. Good to know: they only accept cash and Octopus, so don't count on credit cards. Overall, an easy 4 stars for a dependable, grounding first stop.

Although it was busy on my first visit, it didn't feel overwhelming, nor did I feel rushed and herded by staff. Orders are done through the QR code on the table, but my phone service was wonky that day and one of the employees was very nice and took my order. That did lead me to panic ordering the HOTTEST egg toast, but that's my own fault and I surely paid the consequence. I like spicy food, but that lacked flavor and only burned. They have a big menu, including vegetarian options and famous HK bakery items like egg tarts and pineapple bread. The regular egg toast is delicious, a heaping serving of creamy eggs over thick toast. Then of course I had to try the famous Hong Kong Milk tea, which was also delicious. It's made with a full bodied black tea and has a rich earthy flavor. No sugar added so it's not sweet unless you make it so. When I was finished, I paid at the register and was on my way.

We got a char siu macaroni soup, bolo bao, and truffle scrambled egg toast. There was a lot of egg on the toast but the truffle tasted more like a dark chocolate crumble? The bolo bao was a bit of a disappointment due to the bread being cold. I don't know if there was an option to just tell them we wanted it hot. Also ordered Hong Kong milk tea but the waiter misheard even though he repeated it and sent a sweet tea instead. Not bad for a comfort food spot.

This review is only for the pineapple bun…read more I do not recommend. On multiple, multiple food review sites writing about the best pineapple bun in HK, Kam Fung made the list. Happened to be in wan chai today so why not- We got take out for two buns- one with butter and one without. But even before opening the package we knew something was wrong. Each bun was wrapped in plastic, but was so extremely heavy. How could a bun be so heavy? Opening it and taking a bite - it's like chewy raw dough. I'm not sure if it was really raw, but that's what it felt like. I couldn't finish it. I didn't even want to take a second bite, really. I'm actually very surprised at the good reviews on the bun here. Its one of the few times that Google reviews are more fair and accurate than Yelp reviews for me. Don't trust the lists!!!!!!!!!!!! The only saving grace - the Chicken Pie! It's crusty and flavorful. Anyway, small shop, a few tables and you will be sharing with strangers if you're solo. They do pour the left over soups into a bucket right underneath your seats... so not quite sanitary... but you'll live. Bring lots of wet naps. Cash Only.
