Dinner here last night. Very nice. The place was also full. The signature dish here is the rainbow Xiao long bow, where about 10 bows come in different colors. The black one is truffle. The other dishes are also nice and inventive. But it's pricy. Expect about HK$500-800 per person.

Worth trying their flavoured Xiao Long Bao in this lovely, locals restaurant. Clean, comfortable and packed with locals (little to no tourists), this loud and bustling dumpling house is know for their Xiao Long Bao or soup dumpling. If you've never tried them, it's a must. If you have, the unique twist of fillings and taste beyond what you're used to is worth a visit. What did we eat? Black Fungus Ma Po Tofu Along with a sampler for each of us of the Xiao Long Bao: 1. Original-fine 2. Ginseng-did not taste it 3. Foie Gras- creamy, delicious 4. Black Truffel-great! Not overpowering. Just right for me 5. Cheesey- meh 6. Crab Roe- yep. That's crabby but not in a good way. Not a fan 7. Garlic- good 8. Szechuan- nice work, chef. This sealed the deal and should absolutely end the sampling. Great flavor and a little pepper corn kick. We ate them in the order suggested by Paradise and their menu card and without ginger. Here's my ranking: 3 4 8 7 1 2 5 6 Your options to order are limited to 6 or 10 of the same flavor or the sampler with 1 of each. This was difficult for us to want to retune since we all had strong opinions on what we liked and even disliked in the dumplings. Given the creativity of the dumplings, I'm glad I visited. Unfortunately with rules around quantity ordered, I would not come back. If I could pick and choose 2 or 3 of each rather than 6 or 10, it's a done deal. The service was prompts the location easy and the restaurant clean. Try it once for fun then go somewhere else for better.

The different types of Xiao Long Baos

I was feeling under the weather, so my friend decided to take me to Paradise Dynasty to cheer me up with some delicious and homey Shanghainese dishes! It sure did not disappoint ^^ This Paradise Dynasty is very busy. Tell the hostess how many people you have, and they will put you on their waitlist system. Once they call your number, they will take you to your table. This place is best known for the Signature Dynasty xiao long baos (XLBs) aka soup dumplings! This dish, if I remember correctly, is now $108 for 8 multi-coloured, uniquely-flavoured XLBs. It is recommended to eat the XLBs in this particular order: 1. Original (milky white) 2. Ginseng (green) 3. Fois Gras (beige) 4. Black Truffle (black) - recommended 5. Cheese (yellow) 6. Crabmeat (orange) - recommended 7. Garlic (brown) 8. Spicy (pink) My friend and I also shared a cold dish made with 3 different eggs (see star photo), also a fried rice and a plate of garlic fried veggies. It was a very satisfying meal :)

    Eight-Flavor XLB's

There are precisely eight reasons to visit Paradise Dynasty - the eight-flavor XLB's. While every now and then you might find some bland and flavorless copycats in the US, be assured that when in Asia, you need to go check out those from Paradise Dynasty. They can be found in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Philippines. These are the originals and are legit! Each XLB is hand-folded 18 times (according to their menu) and the skin is paper-thin. The dumpling is filled with a clear and rich broth that does not carry even a hint of msg. It was flavorful but not greasy. The filling was delicious and one can savor the distinct flavor represented by each color. They are not only color-coded, but are always presented in a specific sequence so that you can always identify the flavors: Position 1: At the center is the original XLB. Position 2: Looking at the picture that I posted, this is the green one at the top 12:00 position. This is the ginseng flavor. Position 3: From the green ginseng one going clockwise, the next one is foie gras - my favorite one! Position 4: Continuing clockwise, the next one is black truffle. Position 5: The next bright yellow one has a cheesy flavor. Position 6: It may not have the color of cooked crabs but this is the crab meat flavor one. Position 7: This is the garlic flavor one which is rather mild. Position 8: The last one going clockwise has the color of a pink billiard ball and is sesame and chili flavored. It is moderately hot and spicy. So I have given you the eight reasons to go check out Paradise Dynasty. All you need to do now is just go!

Came here at 3:30 for their happy hours special. 50% off most items. This is a great deal to try out the food without paying full price. We orders the chicken soup, their special dumpling sampler, pan fried dumplings, green onion cakes, steamed veggie dumplings and braised pork dish. All of them were very good. The colorful dumpling sampler looked good and interesting but I did not like it. Service: it was ok. I did not expect much since it was happy hours. Location: just right next door to time square plaza mall.

This is the place for dumpling lovers!! This place has a special place in my heart since they also fuse together my love for truffles and foie gras. BLACK TRUFFLE dumplings! FOIE GRAS dumplings! Eat them. Eat them. Eat them. I wasn't even hungry when i arrived at this restaurant, but that didn't stop me from eating close to 20 dumplings all by myself, plus some dan dan noodles! Perhaps I am a bit selfish, but I personally recommend ordering the variety assortment of 8 dumplings for your first time for YOURSELF. They are all different flavors so it only makes sense for you to try all of them... right? You can't do that if you're sharing or you'll miss a flavor? Haha. Only after you've tried all the flavors, then you can decide you next order of just the best flavors. You clearly know which two are my favorite. This was such a cool experience and I am so glad I had the opportunity to check this place out.

The different and exotic flavored xiao long baos drew me into trying Paradise Dynasty. So it's no surprise that I ordered the 8-flavor signature dynasty XLBs, which included one of each of original, ginseng, foie gras, black truffle, cheese, crab roe, garlic, and Szechuan flavors. For optimal taste and flavor appreciation, it's best eaten in the aforementioned order, from the simplest/lightest to the most flavorful/heaviest. The different flavors are noted in both the soup and the skin. The skins were delicate and chewy, and the pork meatballs were juicy and delicious. My personal favorites were the cheese and truffle flavors (both very mild). The garlic and Szechuan flavors were very strong and had a nice kick to them, which is why those two are eaten near the end. The pan-fried pork XLBs were tasty too. The soft, fluffy buns were chewy and housed a delicious, meaty chunk of ground pork and soup, much to my surprise. All the pan-fried XLBs I've had in the past never had soup in them. They were fried lightly enough to have a golden brown crust on the bottom, but not too oily overall. This restaurant is huge and accommodates groups very well. It's a very dark restaurant overall, almost unwelcoming, but well lit above all the tables. The strip of water with lotus flower lighting in the middle of the restaurant does give this place a cool, upscale aspect though. Located inside the Lee Theater Plaza mall, Paradise Dynasty wasn't too difficult to find on the 6th floor. And if unconventional flavors for XLB don't sound appetizing, you can't go wrong with a basket of the original ones.

Are you bored of the classic Shanghai dumplings小龍包? Then maybe Paradise Dynasty is up your alley? Their famous dish of assorted colourfl Shanghai dumplings include flavours as: truffle, cheese, veggie... etc. Its rather tasty. Of course they have other shanghai-styled dishes too, but it's not really worth mentioning. Its all good if you want to pair your dumplings with sides... or just order basket after basket of those delicious soup morsels. I came here with a group of 12. So it's great to parties too. Do RSVP though. One annoying thing is that the service seemed really slow. The total came up to $160 pp. Not bad. Definitely worth gaining a few kilos over!

I was in a major xiao long bao / soup dumpling phase, so we just had to go to Paradise Dynasty. We went during dinner so there was a pretty long queue, but it was worth it! You're given a number and there's a screen in the waiting area that'll show you what number is next to be seated. I didn't like half of the flavors that we tried, but I'd go back again to get the original, foie gras and black truffle on its own. We tried this again recently during our Japan trip (April '17) and it wasn't the same. The Hong Kong location was much, much better!

Came here mainly to try the colourful Xiao Long Bao. I must say, they exceeded my expectations! Usually things that look pretty and cool don't taste the best, but to my surprise, all 8 XLBs were very unique and flavourful. My personal favourites were the black truffle, cheese, and foie gras. The appetizers were okay, nothing special. The wontons in chili sauce were more sour than spicy and the wrapping was too way soft (they were all broken). Probably the worse thing was the pork bone soup base. No pork bone taste at all. The squirrel fish was actually cooked very well. I had it in China once and it tasted pretty similar. Only a little too heavy on the sauce. I would recommend coming during the happy hour (Monday to Friday, 3-5pm, 40% off XLB, appetizers, and pork bone soup based noodles). I wouldn't pay regular price for the XLB ($88 HKD = $14 CAD). Overall, 3.5/5

It is known for its unique take on Singaporean xiao long bao (soup dumplings). It is located in the Lee Theatre Plaza, a shopping plaza, in Hong Kong's Times Square. It was a little difficult to find the restaurant. I had to go into one of the clothing stores before I found my way to the elevator bank to get to the sixth floor. Paradise Dynasty is a beautiful restaurant. The décor is very elegant and ambient. There is water running through the middle of part of the restaurant in between tables. However, the waiters and service can be a little slow. I started my meal with an order of the La mian minced meat and mushroom (dry). The noodles were like delicious, thin Ramen noodles. The minced meat and mushrooms were excellent. The sauce had a kick to it too. I also ordered a side of bok choy, which was very good. Of course, the restaurant is known for its xiao long bao. They were not close to the best tasting soup dumplings I have ever eaten. From my experience, the soup inside needs to be sizzling hot. Normally, I need to bite a hole into the top of it and slowly suck the soup out of them first before I can eat the rest of it. The soup in the ones at Dynasty were lukewarm and I could eat them in one bite. Nevertheless, it was the most unique xiao long bao experience I have had because of the various flavors. I tried all 8 in the sampler dish. The flavors and my comments are: Crab roe (orange) - Good but I generally do not like crab unless it is Dungeness or blue crab. Szechuan (red) - Not that spicy. Garlic (brown) - Good. It was like eating clams in garlic sauce. Cheese (yellow) - It definitely had a cheesy flavor but was not my favorite. Ginseng (green) - It tasted like ginseng but I was not a fan of it in the soup. Foie gras (gray) - Very good. Definitely try it if you like foie gras. Black truffle (black) - I absolutely tasted the truffle oil. Although one was enjoyable, I would have got tired of the taste if I had a second one. Signature (white) - It is the traditional xiao long bao that most places have. It was solid. Again, I have never had a xiao long bao experience like it before. I am glad I tried it. However, the actual dumplings were not all that special individually. I would probably not try it again now that the novelty has worn off. Nevertheless, Paradise Dynasty was a very good restaurant and I really enjoyed the other two dishes I ate. If you are visiting and planning a trip to Hong Kong and looking for recommendations, feel free to message me for my itinerary. You can also find the electronic copy through the link my profile.

The 8 flavored xiao long baos are definitely photo worthy, but they didn't meet my expectations. Note that only the skin tastes different, and the insides remain the same. These xiao long baos are relatively small and don't contain a lot of soup, which defeat the whole purpose of juicy soup dumplings. Anyway, the black truffle and garlic ones were my favorite if I had to choose.

If you have never tried soup dumplings, this place is a treat. The tasty assortment provides a two part flavor experience. First you pierce the dumpling to enjoy the unique flavor of the specific filling. Then you enjoy a top notch dumpling. What is the conspiracy keeping this delightful food out of the US? We need to get this sensation onshore soon!
