*Note: this review is for breakfast.
Pros:
-Menu. Variety of breakfast and brunch options.
-Prices. Reasonable set prices.
-Atmosphere. Open and airy.
-Air conditioning. Escape the heat.
Cons:
-Menu photos. There can be some impressive differences between the pics on the menu and the reality when it arrives on a plate (see review images).
-Service. The waitress wasn't rude, but let's just say that the niceties were expertly dispensed with. After taking my dining partner's order, the waitress immediately left to punch it into the computer. When we tracked her down again, she seemed surprised that I also wanted breakfast, too. The whole ordering process was just weird.
-Noise. Combined with the din from the place next door (same ownership, hence the wall that doesn't reach the ceiling), it can get a bit exciting when it's packed.
-Food. Obviously, we didn't come to this place looking for amazing Dim Sum, but we were hoping that we'd get something close to our money's worth. Unfortunately, I can't say that the food is worth a second visit. Marks are difinitely deserved for the food arriving quickly and with heat still intact, but everything underwhelmed. For a while we were under the impression that we ordered the menu filler which isn't what people really go there for. Judging by the posters outside, the establishment is extremely proud of its refreshing summer drinks in bucket-sized glasses with flume-like straws standing at attention amidst colorful, suspended orbs. The breakfast sets are advertised outside as well, but not to the same fanfare.
Overall:
Despite this place's proximity to our hotel (1 minute on foot) we did not go back again for breakfast or any other meal. It certainly appears like one of the more approachable establishments on the street for a tourist that only just arrived, but this place will really only serve those folks who either aren't very adventurous or can't spare 5 minutes to stop by the front desk of their hotel to ask for recommendations.
We ran into a lot of indifferent service while we were in Hong Kong, but our server at this place might very well have ranked at the top of that ignonimous category. read more
