As a plus, they also make sticky rice rolls that are packed with savory fillings. The seating inside is relatively small and cramped just like any other establishment in Hong Kong. With free to use condiments on the table and extra serveware in the pull-out drawer at each table, help yourself to what you need during your meal. Their lunch deals are extremely reasonably priced and come with a beverage like soymilk, and the best part is the deal lasts daily til the early evening. As for the food itself, quality is alright but nothing spectacular. Flavor is on the bland side but seems more healthy than other places. The noodle soups I tried tasted mediocre at best and thr sticky rice roll was wrapped well though filling was a bit overcooked and dry. It's a spot to grab some cheap food that is filling if you're not interested in going out farther than the Shatin Lucky Plaza area. Service was A-OK and you can pay via cash, Octopus, or credit card. Otherwise, I'd say skip it and splurge a little more somewhere else.

The assorted dumplings plate was filled with what looked to be fresh made dumplings, including shrimp wontons. All were quite tasty and delicious. I loved the deep fried foo jook rolls and crispy fish skins assortment, which was a first for me. I do, however, have a weakness for deep fried anything. My only complaints are the ventilation isn't so great, so you'll indefinitely leave stinky, plus my particular seat enjoyed a constant flow of steam from our pot, so I left super duper stinky!

When you take the escalators up to the actual dai pai dong and swing open the silver front door, this is the first restaurant option you will run into. Grab a seat and they will hand you a menu. My husband is Chinese, so they handed him a menu in Chinese and his white wife gets the one made for English speaking folks like myself. So regardless of your language, they have menus that have you covered and many with photos as well. Lots of options, really reasonably priced, authentic and fresh from the kitchen. Fried tofu, fried oysters as well as broccoli and scallops were some of our personal favorites from our meal. I love fried oysters and was not expecting what we got. They were spectacular! Plump, cooked just enough, light and barely noticeable batter. Really a much better oyster than I would expect at a dai pai dong. Do not judge a shabby hole in the wall by its dai pai dong label! I have learned by lesson. For take out and a reasonably priced meal out in our Sheung Wan hood, we will return.

Love coming here but it is quite the distance to travel for some solid dai pai dong fare. Their popular dishes are the garlic fried chicken, black bean sauce clams and the lamb hotpot which are found on practically all the neighbouring tables. They aren't too fussy if you want to order from the other stalls (with the exception of the dumpling place) but I would suggest asking beforehand. Other plus is that you can BYOB (not sure what the corkage is). While the prices aren't too expensive, the portions and quality of the food always leaves the evening with both your wallet and belly full and satisfied.

It is only in season and available to eat for two months of the year - late September to early October, and ending around November. It takes a lot of effort to eat and usually people only eat the roe. It's golden, creamy, and tastes like the sea. One of my favorite things to eat next to uni. To get the meat is where the real work comes into play. I just like sitting down, talking, and digging in. Went here in September during their promotion of the hairy crab all you can eat menu and was not disappointed. Price was a little on the high end but it was super worth it!! FOOD: 2 SERVICE: 2…read moreAMBIANCE: 2 VALUE: 1 Having been to Hong Kong many times and having experienced "real street" food from when they were served on the sidewalk to more recent restaurant type street food, I can say Mui Kee definitely lost something in the transition. Gone is the street flavors, the no nonsense efficient service or the value. We order a variety of Cantonese style dishes, including: 1. Garlic crab - a very "skinny" crab that was not fresh. This dish relies solely on the garlic for taste. 2. Fried intestines - unclean!! 3. Stewed pork w/pickled cabbage - a very traditional dish that should not have been that salty. 4. Deep fried squid - again, relied on the chili powder for flavor. 5. Sweet & sour pork - the only dish they got right. 6. Eggplant with minced pork - decent taste and size. This was not a good dining experience. The food was lacking in flavor, small in serving size and over priced for what we received. On top of that, it was extremely noisy, to the point it was becoming unbearable! DO NOT COME HERE!

Luckily, Hong Kong is such a paradise where cuisines from around the world are readily available. The shop reminded me of the Korean food I had a lot. Just by looking at their menu, I felt like I'm in Korea again. No jokes. They have deep-fried chicken, fried rice with kimchi and cheese, pig feet and grilled chicken with vegetables. The list can still go on for sometime with the variety choice of dishes. I ordered the 6-pieces cheese grilled rib and the portion was enough to feed 2 people. Apart from the ribs, there were some Korean rice cakes and rice balls with seaweed. The dish was served in a large metal dish and placed on the fire to melt the cheese. Once the bits and pieces of cheese became a cheese paste, an oppa came over to demonstrate how to wrap the cheese around the ribs (I suspected that he is a Korean so it's a real oppa *laughs*) . The cheese rib pleasantly surprised me with their softness, the meat separated from the bones with just a gentle bite. Then I tried to do the cheese-wrapping myself. Well, no doubt some more practice was needed. Tip: don't miss out the riceballs, they act miracles with the cheese! I was pretty full after this, but it's a definite yes for me to return!

The tasting menus look great, but I am not hungry enough to have a multi-course menu so I ordered a chicken and fish maw soup and a wagyu beef and foie gras fried rice in claypot. The meal started with a honey walnut snack and an amuse bouche of mini osmanthus cake. The chicken and fish maw soup was delicious and very filling, so I was halfway full by the time I finished eating it. I believe the restaurant calls it "Eight Treasures Soup" in English probably because there are 8 unique ingredients in it. The fried rice is so well made with a well-balanced portion of Wagyu beef and foie gras. I could smell the lovely fragrance of both the soup and the fried rice as soon as they were brought to the table. Service is also exemplary as the waiter and waitress were always attentive and quick when I needed their service. I highly recommend trying this restaurant for a superb Chinese cuisine dining experience.

We tried a couple of more adventurous dumplings like the tricolor dumpling set and lobster dumpling, which were very creative but ultimately kind of strange combinations of seafood and vegetables. We got mango sago for dessert as it's a popular Cantonese dessert, which was nice but not the star of the show. Service was polite, fast, and English-friendly. The restaurant is located in a hotel attached to a huge mall, so it was nice to shop around while waiting for our reservation time.
