We got to choose 3 appetizers so we got the truffle fries with parmesan cheese, mango shrimp salad and salted egg calamari. Entree we get to choose 2 so we picked the Salmon Wellington and Sirloin steak with purple potatoes. Pasta we can also picked 2 which was the seafood risotto and spaghetti with giant prawns. We also got half a dozen of raw oysters for appetizers and the meal came with some desserts. Everything was phenomenal. It was a bit pricey bc we paid around $1800 and the service could be better. You want to serve as an upscale Italian restaurant then you also have to provide a little more better service. I understand that it is not easy but with such a beautiful atmosphere and such phenomenal food, wouldn't you WANT to differentiate yourself by giving a little more better service? That's the reason why I took a star away. I didn't mind paying $1800 at all but I would have happily given a full 5 star is the staff had given a better experience. On the weekday afternoon I was there, the place was packed with people on their lunch break from their offices. Nevertheless, I was able to get a table. The place was well lit, with a clean design that feels quite comfortable even when it's packed. I ordered the lunch set, which comes with soup (cream of mushroom), garlic bread, an entree of your choice and a drink (ranges from ~HKD 60 - 120ish, which isn't bad at all!) I also really appreciated that they had a designated healthy entree option (with the number of calories listed), since I'm trying to eat healthy. The mushroom soup was decent and tastes homemade, although could be a little thicker in my opinion. I got the healthy entree option, which is brown rice with grilled chicken and an okra salad. The okra gave the salad such a nice refreshing touch in terms of novelty, and was well dressed. Chicken could be a tad bit more juicy but had the delicious grilled flavor, and I enjoyed the sesame-based sauce on it - plus I actually felt super healthy eating it! Overall, a nice, affordable spot for a meal in a comfortable space! Excited to see how the restaurant scene blossoms in the future in this area. We decided to eat here for an early breakfast to say goodbye to my family members before my flight back home. I ordered satay beef with noodles which came with eggs and a bun. This place is always packed. From what I've seen, every time I pass by the place it is almost a full house whether it is the early early morning (8am) or later in the evening so I can kind of understand not being able to seat 6 people immediately. However the situation was handled extremely poorly by their waitresses. THE SERVICE: First of all, one person from our party arrived early and asked for 6 seats and had stated we were willing to wait a bit since we understand 6 people is hard to seat together in such a busy and small restaurant. Fortunately, there were 6 available seats within a matter of minutes and so the one person from our party was told to be seated and was told that the other 5 seats were reserved for our party. Within a few minutes another group of people were seated in our seats that were reserved (keep in mind this was within a matter of a few minutes and wasn't like the seats were reserved with no shows for hours). Obviously this caused a huge commotion when the rest of the party arrived to our reserved seats being taken when we were promised we would be seated together. After all of this, we asked what happened and the waitress seemed annoyed and asked us to sit away from each other and obviously we refused since we had reserved the seats to be together and it was our last meal before my flight home. This caused a bit of an issue and we wanted to leave and find a different restaurant that would seat us properly, however the waitress became irritated and found us a new set of tables since people had coincidently just left. We finally sat down and decided to order, however, another waitress came to take our order and gave us attitude and grimaced at every single word we said to her. It was absolutely rude and we felt the entire staff was shooting us dirty looks while we ate. THE FOOD: honestly was not very good. Maybe I was already put in a bad mood by the lousy service, but the noodles and beef were oddly greasy (as pictured) and not balanced at all. The beef tasted like it was not even seasoned one bit. I felt like the beef was cooked separately with 0 seasoning and plopped on top of the noodles and the grease just sank into the soup, making the entire dish just a messy attempt at satay beef and noodles. The eggs were also poorly cooked. The only good thing was the lemon tea I ordered. My other family members felt that the food was mediocre as well. I ABSOLUTELY HATE GIVING POOR REVIEWS and I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the blatant rudeness and attitude of the workers and the disappointment of the food was just awful. Honestly the city of Hong Kong is known for its amazing food and restaurants and I did not expect my first 2 star review to be in the city of such great food. I've been here twice now, and both times I've been really satisfied with my meal. The first time I had a spare ribs with hor fun with black bean sauce and cream of corn with fish over rice. The hor fun was perfectly stir fried, and I appreciated that there was a healthy portion of spare ribs. The fish was still crispy, even with the sauce on it. The second time I went was afternoon tea time so I had their BBQ pork with scrambled eggs and XO sauce over rice. I loved the extra kick that the XO sauce add, and the eggs were very silky smooth. We also got the beef chow fun which stir fried until it as perfectly dry but not too oily. It had a lot of "wok air", which implies the heat used to cute it was high enough. Lastly, we got the classic scrambled eggs with ham and toast. The eggs here were also light, fluffy and perfectly cooked. One of my favorite things about this place is the model of Hong Kong life! In a display case that spans one of the walls, you'll find what looks like a typical street in Hong Kong. It has the mini buses, taxis, people, short houses with clothes hanging outside. It's super cute! The inside is also decorated to look like a classic cha caan teng. Would I go out of my way to come to this place? This is definitely a good date place - and you can roam the mall after! I came with my family during their afternoon teatime, thinking that there would be some specials offered around 2 PM. I think they had a lunchtime special, so even at 2 PM, the restaurant was packed with customers and guests waiting for a seat. After you're seated at a table, you have to go to the front counter to order your food. You're given a number, and when the food is ready the waiter/waitress will serve the food to your table. Since it's Hong Kong and you can split dishes without anybody really caring, we decided to order fewer items to be shared amongst ourselves and eat elsewhere if we were still hungry. Porcini rice with pork and kimchi in stone pot: $46 HKD and with an additional $12 HKD, we were able to add on a puff pastry soup. I have to say that the rice was really good. Very similar to the Chinese sausage in a stone pot, except this rice had flavoring and ingredients to it. Along with the pork belly and kimchi - flavoring of everything was on point, and it definitely filled us up. Cream of mushroom puff pastry soup: When the waitress brought our soup to us, one of them was slightly burnt, and without us even commenting, she said that she was going to ask the chef to remake a new one for us. I don't think we would have really minded, but that was really nice of her. The soup is definitely something you must try! Rich flavoring of mushroom in a creamy broth. The puff pastry was light and flaky, with really good flavor. As you break into the puff pastry, some of it drops into the soup so you get a crispy texture as you drink the creamy soup. I really liked it. Spaghetti Bolognese with puff pastry soup: This set lunch combination was $56 HKD or roughly $8 USD. I thought it was fairly priced, since it came with the puff pastry soup. The spaghetti wasn't too unique. Tasted very similar to how my mom cooks her spaghetti, except it was slightly sweeter. I probably wouldn't recommend ordering this dish if you're looking for something unique or different to try. Hot tea and hot milk tea - nothing special. The hot milk tea was pretty strong, but not as smooth as some of the other places I've tried. tl;dr - Overall, a really cute place to go for lunch or brunch. They have a ton of items from different types of cuisines, but some items are more popular than others. Since they had a steak special that night, we took advantage of the sirloin and ribeye steak. Each was $93 HKD and came with potato and daily soup as well as fresh rolls. Potato as in potato wedges and some grilled vegetables - it also came with a hot beverage of choice (extra $3 HKD for a cold, extra $6 HKD for dessert). I don't really think there was much of a difference in the sirloin and ribeye. Both came with a black pepper sauce. Cooked pretty well, still sizzling when they came out of the kitchen. Flavor was good and the taste was not too bad. For the price, I thought it was decent. The borscht soup and rolls were a good addition to the dish as well. My sister went more American and tried the fried fish fillets and French fries. Pretty sure these were frozen, but she enjoyed her fried foods basket. Came with four fillets and a good amount of large crinkled fries. Fish was crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside. Upon biting into it, there was that nice crisp - came with tartar sauce. The Alfredo seafood noodle - unfortunately this was the disappointment of the night. My mom always likes to order random dishes and they usually turn out pretty bad - this was no exception. The sauce tasted like it came from a can. The flavor did not go well with the noodles. Chunky and just not pleasant to eat. There were random bits of seafood in the noodles, but ... we couldn't stomach this dish. We also ordered some random "enticing" drinks. The Fuji apple grapefruit honey drink ... sounds fancy and tasty right? But it wasn't. Couldn't taste much of the apple or grapefruit. It was a fail. Peach grass jelly drink ... well it was pretty, but not the best. I don't think I'd order these drinks again. Definitely stick to your traditional Chinese drinks. The Horlick and iced lemon tea were pretty good. Service was decent. We had a number of workers helping us. I think they ended up forgetting about one of the dishes and we had to remind several people about our order before it finally arrived. Place was clean (since it was fairly new), and the restrooms were also clean. tl;dr - A decent place to get a good HK styled café dish. Prices are reasonable. With all of the people coming in and out, the food should be pretty fresh. I would order more of the American styled dishes than the Asian-fusion ones.
