With the neon orange signage and big white lettering, there seems to be a location every few streets. Serving mainly Japanese beef bowls, yoshinoya has quickly become one of my go-to comfort foods here in HK. When you finish work late or need a quick bite to eat, there's nothing like grabbing a big bowl of beef on top of rice. Add a soft egg and a cold lemon tea, and I could eat here every week :) The beef bowls are a must, as the thinly sliced beef is really tender and flavorful. Their personal hot pots are also quite delicious and very satisfying. Although it is fast food, for the price and taste, it really can't be beat!

Everything was excellent at these special bargain prices at afternoon tea time between 2pm-3:30pm. They charge HK$10 (about US$1.30) per person for tea so the entire bill came out to be HK$202 which was about US$26 for a meal with leftover that I could enjoy later.

What it is is that roast infant baby pig (younger than usually suckling pig ) and stuffed the hold pig with taro rice before roasting. So the rice absorbed all the juice from the meat, it's actually very favourable. Like regular suckling pig, it has a crispy skin and tender meat. They bring out an uncut full pig and serve it in front of you. It is a very big dish and my friend and I made a mistake trying to eat this off and other dishes with just 4 of us. This dish by itself can at least feed 10 people. So we have about 3 big boxes of leftover to bring home. The restaurant itself seems to be clean but not very busy. And almost all customers order the same dish. And they actually offer pre-order for take outs. I would recommend doing that if you like to share with a big group. Other dishes there is alright, honestly not memorable. I would probably only have it again on a more festive day or for celebration only. This is definitely not a everyday eat.

After making it up all the stairs (a common HK lifestyle), enter the silver room. A familiar Korean interior design, simple and a table full of silverware and plating. Greeted at the door and brought straight to the table, there was no wait on a Thursday night. Throughout the night, the restaurant was at most half occupied. When it came time to order, the waitress informed the table of a lucky dice shake. "Like" the restaurant on Facebook for one shake, prizes include free food or discount off the bill. First course or "appetiser" was some Korean side dishes, the usual fermented or sour vegetables. Next came the all you can eat clams for 30 minutes. Ordered the Seoul Tower which consisted of seven layers. Each layer consisted of seafood and some vegetables. As the temperature hits 90 Celsius, it was time to dig in. It was recommended that each layer should be finished in 5 minutes and move onto the next or else there's a chance of overlooking the remaining levels. A metal bowl with a lid was provided to keep the unfinished food in so it would be possible to move on to the next level. The seafood was not seasoned or marinated, everything was in the most natural state so their true flavours would be the star. Two sauces were provided for dipping. Everything sort of tasted similar after a while. The seafood was fresh and flavourful on its own. The cheese balls which was first mistaken for as fish balls were a weird combination with the rest of the food. Felt American while everything else was Korean. All the steaming liquid and juices fell to the bottom, making the last level which was the congee taste very good. Overall, would come again. Fun and interesting experience. It was quite enjoyable, even for someone who's not a huge fan of seafood.

It was served with a Japanese mayonnaise, which complemented the flavours. The portions were quite generous and I'd did walk out full, and the side salad was good, but the complementary appetizer salad seemed a little too sour- that's coming from someone who likes sour food. The Chaiwanmushi was good overall- it had a pleasing sweetness to it. The miso soup as you'd expect- salty, and flavourful, but I was surprised by the amount of fried tofu that they wound up putting inside of it. Overall, this was a good experience at Zushi ANA, and I will probably try their sushi in a future visit.

Kind of reminds me in color and design of Burger Chef, if you are from US and old enough to remember this fast food chain. They do not serve burgers though. Their menu rotates throughout the day from breakfast to lunch to afternoon meal to dinner. Literally they change out the items as they appear on their menu board. We arrived at 5:45pm and there was no vegetable option. But at 6pm, the menu board changed and vegetables were part of the dinner menu. Good was cooked fresh, rice was fresh, hot, portions were kind of small, but a good, cheap, fast option. You order and pay for your food up front (and can do so by number to make it easy), go pick it up from the window in the back and then find a seat. During busy hours, you might have to sit with someone you do not know and are packed in with. We had soup, rice, vegetables and a fried fish. Although not superior quality, for fast food it was really quite good to be honest. So although a 3 might not seem like a good rating, I would say for average fast food, it was better than many. Given an option, I would have given it 3.5 if available to me.
