Kam Wah Cafe is also famous for their freshly baked Pineapple Bun and Butter. Can't start your day without some HK Milk Tea and Iced Ovaltine. My son said it's a good thing the nai cha in the states are not as good because he was starting to develop an addiction. Lol. For those of you who don't know, it's made with Ceylon leaves, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The French toast was so damn delicious but a bit indulgent. I do wish I could taste more of the peanuts. My son loved his bolo bao. We also shared a hot bowl of macaroni soup with Spam and lettuce. Thinking back, I regret not trying the Spicy Satay Beef Instant Noodle. I will have to look for this back in the states. The aunties working here are just the most adorable, very kind and welcoming. One of them took the time to help us navigate the huge menu and recommended a few items. I would come back again and again if I could. I have a mad love for these iconic HK Style Cafes aka Cha Chaan Tengs. These affordable quick-paced restaurants were influenced by the city's 150 years of British rule. Aside from the classic breakfast items, they also offer many delicious rice and noodle dishes in the afternoon.

The food just hit the spot for me, bringing me right back to my childhood memories of eating this on weekend mornings at our local HK cafe. It has a very small inside with a handful of seats and a few barstools our front. Very simple layout but clean. They had a nice variety of beverages and pastries as well. The baristas were very nice and were engaging with regulars as well. They offered us for here cups since we were staying which was great to see. We sat outside on the barstools and they brought our drinks to us. The drinks came on nice plates with a spoon and small biscotti - nice little touch. No straws at this place. My mocha was not only beautiful with a pretty floret on it - the mocha was absolutely delicious. Really enjoyed this place and would definitely seek them out for another cup. Unroasted: this place is amazing! Love the small corner location. Great seating in the front and inside. Staff was super friendly and even asked if it was for here. The latte was one of the best I have ever had. The latte art was on point. Great job by this fantastic shop! I would say it's a must. It deserves the 5 star we gave it.

The entrance faces a couple of steps to an elevated level where the seating is. To the left of the entrance is baristas doing their thing but you can also see baristas on the second level too. So where do we go? We walked up the stairs to get seats and proceeded to the second level barista who then told us to order on the first level. Couldn't have been easier if the barista was more attentive by greeting and waiting for people to come up to order? Anyways, we grabbed the menu and decided to get some drinks as a break from walking. Since it was hot, I got an iced mocha. And honestly, nothing special. It was just satisfying to drink something sweet and cold. Hype? Maybe. Would I come back here again? Maybe if I was desperate enough to sit at a minimal looking spot and try another drink.

Both were soooo good, hot or cold. I don't think the macaroni/ham soup or the egg ham toast were anything special, and would not bother ordering these again. The place is super popular, but the line moves quick. You may be seated with strangers at the same table (seems to be common practice in busy HK restaurants). Service was questionable, but I also saw a video online that they are purposely (& famously?) rude to the customers. What made me laugh was that we had barely sat down (my butt touched the seat for 0.1 second) and the waiter already wanted our order. When we said we needed extra time to go over the menu first, we got a bit of a death stare from the waiter. Their concept seems to be "come in, eat right away, and get the hell out!" I had been forewarned by my friend about the service here though, so I wasn't surprised. I'd still come again just for the pudding.
