Avenue of Stars is an iconic and touristy spot. It has been on my list to check off because both times when I visited in 2015 and 2017, they were closed and undergoing renovations. I am a huge fan of Anita Mui and I finally got to pay her a visit. We visited on a weekday morning so there were very little people. It was perfect to capture pictures of the statues, handprints, and skyline. I noticed they added a Luckin Coffee stand along the Avenue of Stars. I did not get to try it this time around since they were not open when we were there but I would definitely keep that in mind for my next visit! read more

This is the place you want to be standing at appreciating the view of Victoria Harbor AND a place dedicated to honor stars present and past. To see a statue of Bruce Lee and a handprint of Jackie Chan was neat to see and appreciate. Also it was nice to stroll along this path in the sunset and watching the lights at night was mesmerizing. read more

Avenue of Stars / Tsim Sha Tsui -- Beyond Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island, strolling this waterfront promenade on the Kowloon side of the harbor is the other essential must-do in Hong Kong. The significance of the name comes from the row of handprints and plaques commemorating Hong Kong's film stars. If you can name more than three stars, you're doing a lot better than me. You'll be relieved to know that I know who Bruce Lee is... ...and so do the queue of tourists who were waiting to pose in front of his statue. But let's face it, Jamie W and I came for the view and a spectacular one it is. Especially at sunset when the skyline lights up. Of course that's when the promenade becomes most packed and the aggressive elbows come jutting out. Pretty popular place with tourist, this walk way has a beautiful view of the Victoria Harbor. The pathway takes about 10 minutes to walk, if not pausing too many times to take pictures. It was nice to see so many stars' hand prints carved in the rail. Other than those and the skyline view, I didn't find anything much existing about this place. I would count this as an optional item as a tourist visiting HK. read more

I took my kids here to show the counterpart of Hollywood Walk of Fame. It's just that the palms are on the railings while it is on the ground in Hollywood. The weather was not great. It was hot actually. So they didn't enjoy it. Even though it is by the sea, there was no ocean breeze. There are some construction on going too. So we just look for the artist that we know, took a picture and we run for the shade. My new favourite place in Hong Kong! This is Hong Kong's version of the Hollywood Star Walk of Fame, but better. Haven't been in Hong Kong in over a decade and I believe this avenue was developed in 2019. You must come here for a stroll in the day and night. Walking down the Victoria Harbour, you will feel at peace with the sound of the waves and the view of the harbour. And along the way, you will get excited perhaps looking at the various handprints of famous stars (Michelle Yeoh, Tony Leung, Andy Lau, Jackie Chan, to name a few). There are also statues of Bruce Lee, Anita Mui, and my all time favourite - a gold statue of the most adorable and relatable pig McDull! Around Christmas time, you'll also large crowds taking photos around the Dior Christmas tree. It's even more beautiful and sparkly in the night time! Anyway, even if you don't recognize any of the stars, I highly recommend visiting just for the walk along the harbour. Their faces, hand moldings, and statues are shown through out this small strip facing towards the Hong Kong Skyline. Hollywood has their Walk of Fame. Hong Kong has the Avenue of the Stars. If you are visiting Hong Kong, a tourist will most likely end up in the area to look at Hong Kong from Kowloon. So while there's nothing super fabulous about seeing these famous people names enshrined here, if you're in the area, it's worth checking out. read more

Avenue of Stars changed so much since my first visit in 2004. I was lucky enough to see it right after it reopened in early 2019 following several months of renovations. The handprints of distinguished stars and notable people in the entertainment industry are no longer installed on the floor, but beautifully embedded in plaques along the wooden handrails. On top of the handprints, various statues are scattered along the Avenue of Stars. The renewed landmark offers plenty of outdoor seating, so grab a good one to enjoy the large-scale lighting music show that starts at 8 p.m. every day. I advise you to start looking for a good spot at 7 p.m. before the promenade starts crowding with tourists who also want the best spot. If you don't want to stay that long, at least wait for golden hour - the Hong Kong skyline is absolutely breathtaking. Though, I must say the night view of Victoria Harbour is equally stunning. Other new additions include mobile carts and a gift shop. I actually wish they had more options at the mobile carts. How about some local ice cream that you can find at convenience stores or Hong Kong snacks like fishballs and siu mai? read more

The Avenue of the Stars is currently closed for renovation til 2018 or so. All I really wanted to see was the Bruce Lee statue. Lo and behold they moved it to across the street in the 'Garden of the Stars'. I didn't see a whole lot of signage to where the statue was but goggle maps located it across the street. There are a few other stairs there but I didn't really inspect them as it Las at night. Got my picture of Bruce Lee so I was happy but would have like to see it all next to the view of the harbor. Guess I'll have to return to HK someday after 2018. This is another tourist must-see place. The view from this area is postcard worthy. Took some beautiful night pics nearby. read more

Well, considering that Hong Kong has, or rather had, such a vibrant film industry that produced quite a few stars, some of them even earning world wide fame, it probably isn't all that surprising that they also have their own Avenue of the Stars. The thing with this place is that it is located in a pretty impressive spot, namely along the foreshore of the harbour, which basically affords some rather amazing views. Mind you, half the actors I haven't actually heard of, but there are still a number that I have. read more

We came early (9:30 am) in the morning and it was empty, so we were able to take amazing pictures. The view of the pier, MoMA and the K11 musea from this side is great. They have located the statues on a bed of water so people can't reach to them, but there is enough room for pix. read more

But I'm sure people don't care about the other entertainers that has a star here or even know who they are (like myself to a certain extent). All they want to know is "where's Jackie Chan's star?" or "where's that Bruce Lee statute?" Yeah, well, they're all here. Avenue of Stars is one of the attractions at Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade. It is the Hong Kong entertainment industry's equivalent of the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame. This stretch of land is a nice public walkway for locals and tourists alike as it has a great view of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong Island skyline. While it may be sunny here often, the view is not always great. The day I checked out this attraction, there was a haze across the water and in the sky. There is poor visibility on some days here, so just be aware of that before coming. There are nameplates all over this attraction of famous actors, actresses and directors. Some that have handprints on them. There are also several statues including one of Bruce Lee that is famous. The appeal of this attraction is going to depend on how familiar you are with the names here. If you have no idea who Bruce Lee was, you might as well skip this spot unless you are only here for the view. Though given the crowds here, you are better off walking towards the ferry as it is not crowded on that side of the promenade. read more

I absolutely love the Avenue of Stars! Okay, okay... it can come off as a knockoff of Hollywood's Walk of Fame, which is littered with stars and celebrities that even your grandma would recognize. However, there are a couple of things that make this avenue stand out to the little ABC inside of me: 1. The VIEW. Can we talk about the view?! Hong Kong's legendary skyline is best seen from the Avenue of Stars. Arguably the world's greatest skyline is at your fingertips, and looks gorgeous both day and night. My favorite hobby in all of Asia is to grab a beer and sit on the pier and watch the skyline go by at night. How can I say no to this amazing beauty? 2. The STARS. Most people would only recognize a couple of names (e.g. Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat, etc.), but for someone that grew up in a Cantonese household, these people are legends. You have artists like Andy Lau (my namesake!), Leslie Cheung (who gets flowers bestowed here like Michael Jackson)), and Anita Mui (RIP) being represented, and the great statue of Bruce Lee welcoming you is a sign of just how much the HK entertainment industry has influenced the world. 3. The CHARACTERS. What a place to people watch. From local runners to tourists, there is always somebody interesting to run into while you're at the avenue. While you are in HK, you must come and enjoy this spot. I come back here every single time and it never gets old. This is a must stop if you happen to be in Kowloon (TST area). We came here to see the great panorama views of the harbor and Hong Kong Island across the way. Such tall sky scrapers in Central and you can see "The Peak" when it's not so cloudy! :) You will see the avenue paved with placards of famous movie stars, and statues here and there. We even saw a symbol (statue) of the Beijing Olympics 2008 torch on display. Many museums are located around here, along with the Peninsula Hotel, and the Star Ferry terminal. Lots to do! For Hong Kong entertainment fans across the globe, the Avenue of the Stars (星光大道) is a must see tourist attraction and pays homage to stars from past and present. Debuting in 2004, It is Asia's equivalent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and located out on the Tsim Sha Tsui East waterfront. If you know your Andy Lau Tak Wah (劉德華) from your Sammo Hung Gum Bo (洪金寶), make this walkway a part of the HK itinerary. When the skies are clear, the photo ops are limitless. A casual stroll along the edge of where TST meets the water and a direct view of HK island is nothing short of spectacular. The panoramic view of Victoria Harbor is incredible. Selfies, group photos, are a virtual guarantee. At one point, this was also a good spot to catch the ever cheesy Symphony of Lights (https://www.yelp.com/biz/%E5%B9%BB%E5%BD%A9%E8%A9%A0%E9%A6%99%E6%B1%9F-%E9%A6%99%E6%B8%AF). Pose next to the iconic Bruce Lee statue or get on all fours to for a downward photo angle of Dodo Cheng (鄭裕玲)'s hand prints and signature. I know I did when it came to Tony Leung Chiu Wei (梁朝偉) and Stephen Chow Sing Chi (周星馳). There is even a statue for the deceased Anita Mui Yim Fong (梅艷芳) now, which is fitting for Asia's former Madonna. For now, the walkway is closed for redevelopment and expansion of the avenue. Currently, it has over 100 Hong Kong stars immortalized in the cement and many more to be planned. The place is apparently going to reopen during the tail end of 2018. First time visiting Hong Kong, and while not completely certain of what to miss and what not to, I knew I had to see the Bruce Lee statue. Little did I know that this whole section of Avenue of the Stars was set to be closed the following day we decided to visit. Crazy! So we saw the statues, stars on the walk, and took pics. I must say that the calmness of the waterfront was breathtaking. It was nutty to see the contrast of old-timey boats against the backdrop of gigantic modern skyscrapers. Compared to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, there were significantly less homeless people squatting here! Offers wonderful views of the ocean and the Hong Kong island. Lots of different shops abound and this area serves as a nice place to take a walk or grab a bite of food. Honestly, the only actors I could recognize were Jackie Chan and Chow Yun-fat. I suppose I'll have to be more cultured next time I visit. read more

It's said that it's temporarily closed. But if you just need to pay your respects to the Bruce Lee statue, (Why else would you be there) just go. Of course, most of the stuff and statue are in renovation. But the sea, the pier, the salty wind and Bruce Lee are still there. Arguably Kowloon's most popular tourist attraction, the avenue of stars is a promenade that runs from TST towards Kai Tak with spectacular views of the city. Hong Kong's version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Avenue of Stars pays homage to the men and women who grace the silver screen in the movies the rest of the world watches with subtitles. To be honest, with the exception of Chow Young Fat and of course Bruce Lee, I haven't heard of ninety percent of them, but that's not their fault. For mine, the best reason to visit the avenue is the afore mentioned view back across the harbour to the city centre. The trip across on the Star Ferry (tied with the Peak Tram for tourist popularity I recon), is highly rated in most Hong Kong tourist guide -with good reason, and probably accounts for a good deal of the footfall at the Avenue of Stars. The promenade is also the best place to watch the symphony of lights. The nightly laser and light show which plays out across the sky scrapers. The show begins at 8pm and runs for about 30 minutes, and, although bits of it are visible from most places with a view of the right part of the harbour, it is also set to music with you only hear at the avenue of stars. Just one note of caution here. One Christmas Eve we took visiting family members here to watch the show, but there was something we hadn't taken into account. There are seven million people in Hong Kong, and I swear at least five million of them had the same idea! In other words, there are some nights of the year when it just isn't worth it, but not many. read more

The Avenue of Stars is the eastern version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which is located along the Victoria Harbor waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui. I have to say that this is one of the tourist attractions developed by the Tourism Board that I truly applaud for its success. As the "Pearl of the Orient", Hong Kong has produced quite a few movie stars that have gone well-known internationally. Walking along the avenue, you may see lots of the handprints of those famous artists including Jacky Chan (hmm... not a big fan though, however all tourists thought we locals adore him... well...) There are a few food stalls along the way and some benches for you to chill. However, the fried squid normally smells much better than its taste. I would try it once but I probably will not have it every time I walk past it as it is rather pricey. One of the most iconic spot of the Avenue of Stars has got to be the Statue of Bruce Lee. Expect to see lots of tourists posing like Bruce Lee while having their pictures taken. Also, you may find McDull, a little piggy created by local artist. Come have a look at night and I promise you strolling along the promenade with your partner is the most romantic place in Hong Kong. read more

***STATUES/STARS ON THE WALK have been RELOCATED TO GARDEN OF THE STARS*** Recently came back from HK and stopped by Avenue of Stars for my fiance who wanted a picture with the statue of Bruce Lee. I wish I had looked it up prior because I had no idea they were undergoing renovation! They have now moved everything to a garden that is up the stairs and across the street (lots of signs will point to where it is..both in Chinese and English). A little disappointing because it is just not the same as seeing the stars and the statues with a backdrop of the water. If it is anything like how they have transformed Kowloon Public Pier (modern/lots of seating/clean look), then I'm sure Avenue of Stars will be even better than before. read more

Pretty impressive to see a statue of Bruce Lee along the waterfront in TsimShaTsui. Lots of Mainlanders tourists surround the statues taking pictures so if you want one, be prepared to be photobombed. Its a nice walk around but unless you know which stars hand print you are looking at, it really is just a nice walk along the water front. Go at twilight, then have a picnic dinner along the benches and watch the laser show. Walk over from the Peninsula Hotel and walk behind the museum for access. read more

I haven't been here for a long time. the last time I was here it was relatively interesting. I mean there were a lot of mainlanders which is a little overwhelming but at the same time I think it's kind of scary they come in busloads!! I prefer to come here when there aren't as many people which is never. I usually just asked my visitors to come on their own when I am at work. I think the Avenue of stars in general is pretty nice if it isn't packed with people. They so have some nice views overseeing Hong Kong I think visitors really really like this place and it's got a lot of photo opportunities like the Bruce Lee statue/memorial. They have also mimicked the Hollywood Avenue of stars where celebrities autograph their names along with their hand/foot print. They have done the same thing with local Hong Kong stars and the autographs and if there are people coming in from out of town and they would sign as well. read more
