Very cool and awesome set of historical buildings that also include a cool cannon (positioned at the top of the mountain to optimally stop the advance of pirates) - definitely recommended as a very nice landmark to check out in Hong Kong!

Interesting historical reproduction of colonial 1800s architecture with some informational stations to explain what each of the features represents. If you're walking around downtown Hong Kong I'd make a stop to check it out.

valentines day decoration all set!

Be sure to visit 1881 every now and then especially during festive days, you are guaranteed to capture beautiful pictures with your loved ones with the beautiful centre piece and backdrop that change regularly according to the festivity! I walked past 1881 just yesterday (Jan 27) and the valentines day decoration is just beaaaautiful! Go early to avoid the crowd that will start flooding in towards the big day! Lucky enough I have been there twice for friends' wedding photo shooting after lunch and before the banquet at night. This place is popular for graduation photo taking and wedding photo taking for obvious reasons! A visit to 1881 Heritage will transport you to Victorian-era Hong Kong. From the 1880s to 1996, this was the headquarters of the Hong Kong Marine Police. Several buildings and artefacts of historical interest have been preserved and restored, and the site now features a shopping mall, a heritage hotel, and an exhibition hall.

Mong Kok, Kowloon

If you're native to Toronto, this is basically pacific mall on steroids. Within 5 steps of each…read moreother are little stalls, each with their own different products and a pushy salesman/woman. Pros + Price: let's be real. You're in Asia, where are all those cheap deals? Mong kok is the place to go. If you're a bargain wizard, you will definitely have fun here. + Variety: from food, bubble tea and earrings to clothing, you can probably buy almost everything here. Minus...probably groceries. + Public transportation friendly Cons - "Trying it on" is unheard of if you're buying clothes. Better to prepared and know your measurements. It's like buying clothes from aliexpress, but you get to see it in person before you buy - Cash: you probably need to bring cash. Each stall likely has a different policy about credit or debit cards (let alone international cards). This is basically a girl's shopping haven. My heart goes out to your partner if you're bringing a dude along.

I am going to give this place 4 stars just for being interesting. By any American standards, it's…read morehard to call this a mall. I would describe it as more of a building full with tiny tiny shops. Whatever you can imagine, you can find at the mall. There were electronics stores, clothes of all kinds, purses, food stalls, gift shops and much more. Here's the interesting thing, each of these shops were only about 50-100 sq ft in size. Now there is about 4 stories on shops just like these. 4 floors of mini shops, with the bra shop sitting next to a gift shop next to a closet that sells curry fish balls. Was it a ton of stuff to buy, no, not really. But it was interesting. It was just like a indoor "ladies street." We saw this mall right across from our hotel and really loved it! There are two K11 malls in this…read morearea. One is K11 Musea, which is for luxury shopping. But this one, K11 Art Mall on Hanoi Road, is much more our style. It is very close to the MTR train station and stays open every day from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The mall has 7 floors, 5 above ground and 2 below. It is not like a regular, boring mall. It mixes shopping with cool stuff everywhere. The stores are perfect for younger people. We saw a lot of local streetwear, cool pop-up markets, and unique designer clothes. They even have a Pop Mart store inside, which we loved! The food areas are great for a casual meal, and the whole place feels very new, modern, and clean. We had a great time here and highly recommend it!

Apparently, everyone in Hong Kong is obsessed with "Labubu" right now? There were swarms of people specifically looking for those. I admit, I was a little overwhelmed at first because there are just too many choices. Wall-to-wall blind boxes, big figurines, and so many different collab characters I couldn't even keep track of. It took a minute to navigate through the crowd, but we finally picked out a really cute one for her (fingers crossed she doesn't have it yet!). If you're shopping for gifts, this is definitely the spot, just be prepared to squeeze through some serious crowds! Pros: Insane selection, super cute displays. Cons: You need sharp elbows to get to the shelves!
