The ONE is a relatively new mall in Hong Kong, having only been here for four years. It is touted as the "tallest retail complex" in the city and from what I experienced, it is also the most confusing.
Now, being the tallest at 29 floors, it is also the leanest. The shops are all small to medium-sized except for the restaurants (which boasts fantastic views of HK Island and Kowloon East) and the gym California Fitness and Homeless, a quirky IKEA alternative. If you're dining here for the view, make sure you head up to the 12th and 13th floor, where they house two exceptional Chinese restaurants. Even further than that, Wooloomooloo sits on the 21st floor with an excellent alfresco outdoor terrace and the best (and expensive) view of HK Island.
The open terrace is sadly, no longer open to the public, although that was its original intention. Not to worry, there are a lot of places in the city with a clear view of the harbor on either side. I'm going to write about that in separate reviews (wink wink).
90% of my time at the ONE is spent on watching at the cinema. Me and my family usually book the early morning shows because it's cheaper and attracts a smaller crowd. From the ground floor, take two escalators, then take the lift straight to the 6th floor to buy tickets.
If you fancy yourself a visit here, Tsim Sha Tsui's Exit B1 will get you to this vertical mall in under 5 minutes. read more
