This platform Sky Terrace 428 has the highest 360° viewing in HK. The fun fact about the name is standing at 428 metres above sea level, and it offers spectacular panoramic views of the city with stunning cityscape.

Excellent view for sure from the Sky Terrace

At less than US$8 extra you might as well go up here. However when we went one entire side of the platform was closed off. There is a viewing platform across the street at the shopping mall in the third floor that is free. View isn't nearly as impressive but free is free. If the admission to the Terrace was $15 or $20 it would definitely be much less of an impulse purchase.

If you paid to ride the Peak Tram or hiked up the Peak, you might as well go an extra mile with HK's highest viewpoint at Sky Terrace 428! You can buy the admission as a combo ticket with Peak Tram or individually at the entrance. Sure you can see the view at free-admission viewpoints like Peak Galleria, but the unobstructed view at Sky Terrace is simply undeniable. This is the spot where the iconic Victoria Peak view shot is taken! While the Kowloon Promenade is the best ground-level view of the impressive HK skyline, Sky Terrace is the best view of the same skyline from the HK Island itself. If you are visiting Victoria Peak - which is a must for all HK travelers - you must go higher at Sky Terrace!

If you are umming an ahh-ing about whether you should pay the fee and go to Sky Terrace 428, I am telling you.. YES YOU SHOULD! It is 48 HKD to enter and you also get a free audio device (which I didn't use so I can't comment on it). The view from the terrace is amazzzingggggggg. Think of it like Hong Kong's version of Top of the Rock in New York. You get an amazing view of the Hong Kong skyline which is absolutely breathtaking. I couldn't stop taking photos! You can stay up here for as long as you like. I went during the day and it was a bit smoggy. It was hot as well, so although you probably want to stay on Terrace for a while, you will get hot. Make sure you go here!

Time to get high in Hong Kong and take in all the beautiful fog and sky scrappers. It's worth all the escalators to see Hong Kong from so high above. It's only a little extra to have entry to the Sky Terrace with your peak tram pass. Take your time though. It can take quite awhile to muddle your way through with all the other tourists.

I love this infrastructure. It height supposedly gives you an overview of how chaotic, yet beautiful the city of Hongkong is. However, the weather did not permit us enjoy the view. It was cloudy and slightly rainy when we visited. But it didn't bother us at all. We weren't really missing a lot. The fun was mostly down stairs presented at each floor. Lower level has souvenir market, restaurant, and other shops. There's also a wax museum on one of the floor. My favorite was the mid level which has the Madness 3D Adventure. It has picture template where you can use, post in the camera, and look like your actually included in the theme of the picture. The pictures bright colored and were angled accordingly. Little bit creativity and you have an awesome picture. It was really cool there so much people. My family and I were a bit aggressive watching when we can squeeze in for our turns. Otherwise you'll wait forever. I'm just not sure if they are set to stay in the building or it was just a seasonal. Hopefully when you visit you get to try it. Super highly recommended.

Amazing view of the city. Go early, before 9 a.m. because there is no line. Definitely worth the money. They can get very windy, but it is so peaceful. Definitely take the Peak Tram. Great views and there is a cool illusion of buildings when you got up the hill.

Great views from the observation deck, which opens at 10 am. Wear sunblock or a hat, there's almost no shaded areas up top. I arrived at the peak before they opened and got a chance to walk around the galleria and outside areas for some photo ops before heading to the observation deck on the top floor. I recommend you bring headphones, so you can listen to the free audio tour available without using communal headphones- yuck. The audio tour was informative and allowed you to pick which areas you wanted to heard about from the touchscreen based on a panoramic picture. Afterwards you can also walk along the trail that circles the peak. The trail is pretty level if you stay on the paved asphalt roads.

That's why there are helpful automatic walkways and escalators under long canopies over certain roadways. That was definitely a smart urban renewal move built back in the '90's, but Pottinger Street has been left intact. This atmospheric walkway consists of a series of steps and inclines on terra firma and retains its vintage Hong Kong charm with seemingly random stone slabs that connect Connaught Road Central up to Hollywood Road. Souvenir kiosks line the street on both sides, and they apparently change depending on the holiday season. Jamie W and I were here too early to see Christmas trinkets and decorations, but we saw stall after stall of local tchotchkes and T-shirts. It's worth the stroll in either direction. Fun fact was that in the early days in HK, Chinese and European residents used to live separately in different neighborhoods. Pottinger street once acts as a rough boundary between the two groups. The Chinese used to mainly live west of the street and westerners to the east. Today there are various vendors selling trinkets and services such as caricature painting on the street. Many blockbuster HK movies have had iconic scenes filmed here including "Lust Caution", "October Besieged City", "Infernal Affairs III", and "Dragon and Phoenix Fight".

My friend who was visiting from the US is Catholic and likes to visit a church or two in the different cities of the world she travels to. The lady in the gift shop at St. Joseph's said that the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception was one of the most beautiful churches in all of Hong Kong. Although tucked behind other buildings and some construction, so not visable from street level of Caine Street itself at all, when we found the walk way to the church, simply magnificent! Being a secular humanist at best, I cannot speak to any custom, traditions or history of this space or the Catholic church, but it really is a lovely church. Based on what I read, it is about 120 years old. It is really large. We also discovered that they do not have gift shop on sight and when we inquired, they referred us to the Grand Building, 3/F on Connaught Road for the gift shop (we did not go there, but in their limited English, this is what the nice staff wrote down and told us).

My husband wanted to explore the rich law enforcement history of the former Central Police Station, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. The site is huge and exceptionally well laid out. We started at the Parade Ground & Barrack Block, a beautiful, wide-open courtyard flanked by classic colonial-era brick buildings. Walking through the Victoria Prison cell blocks with history dating all the way back to 1841, it offered an immersive and fascinating look at Hong Kong's early penal system. As an extra treat, we got a chance to see the Ora-Ora Shop: Summer Pop-up! at Galerie Ora-Ora (Shop 03-105-107, Barrack Block). It was the perfect blend of historic architecture and contemporary art. If you love history, art, or just a cool space to explore away from the hectic city streets, do not miss this absolute gem.

This compound consists of the old Central police station, the barrack block, the central magistracy and the Victoria jail. There are about 10 blocks of building that forms the whole compound of the Victoria jail. Upon arrival, my friend had pre-booked a guided tour for us at 2 pm. There are 2 tours available daily at 11:15 and 2 pm. And an extra tour at 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are available online. The tour runs about 45 min to an hour and they are wheelchairs accessoble . About our tour, our tour guide took us around to show the three groups of building and how streamline it is from being arrested, to brought up to the court and finally being jailed, all in the same compound. There are also stories about the mango trees at the main court, histories of the life of policemen and the cases of prisoners trying to escape. I let give basic idea of where things are, so that you can go back to tour in details. As you walk arpund the compound, you will started to see tea house for dim sum, bars that used to be prisoner's cells, called being bars ( I thought it was a very clever name and literal), and quaint little areas where it seems to have live music at night when the bars are open. I am not sure about what the bars served as they seem to be fairly new and not sure if they are open for business, but the tea house by the court was a nice stop to rest . Dim sum that we're served are all vegetarian style, a bit pricey but a nice resting place with good tea. The most interesting part of this compound is probably going to be the jail. Especially when you look up and see the tree story tall jail from inside, it felt like being in a movie. I really enjoyed touring around this place, not only because it has all these new repurposed restaurants, but also a nostalgic place for me. I remember how I used to get off from school and walked along the high prisons wall and wonder what's it is like inside, and after 20+ years passed and I finally get to see the inside of it.
