Only had 3 full days in HK and this was one of the items on my to do list. A wee bit confusing getting from my accommodations to the Peak Tram but eventually made it. Definitely a great way to get to The Peak. Lucked out with the weather and it only started to rain after I had descended. Great views from the Lions pavilion. Walked a bit around Lugard road then started the walk down. There are very steep sections on the Old Peak Road and was probably not the best idea to do this descent in sandals...but I made it. It was a very positive experience.

Definitely worth going for the most beautiful views of Hong Kong cityscape, waters and mountains. In December the weather is high 60s Fahrenheit to low 70s. So many shops, restaurants to eat, so many view points. Lovely places to sit and enjoy different views. Be prepared for a lot of crowds. A single ride for adults is $82 Hong Kong dollars and for child 3-11 is $52 Hong Kong dollars which for 12/2025 is around $12.55 and $6.69 USD. You can also buy a round trip ticket from $116 and $75 Hong Kong dollars. Took the single ride from the top down.

Great experience to take the tram up and then walk down. No need to take the Tram down for such an easy walk! It's a little on the steep side, but it's all downhill! The Tram was very fun to take up because it's such a steep peak! Grab a Boba from the top of the mountain and then enjoy it on the walk. It get's a little chilly at the top of the peak in the winter, so just be prepared for that. This is a must do on a visit to Hong Kong. If you have been before, and in the mood for some exercise, I would suggest even walking or running up the trail! It's pretty steep, but there were quite a few people doing it, and it looked like a good work out! Enjoy seeing all the sights in Hong Kong, and this is a must do for your first time visiting!

Victoria Peak / The Peak (Hong Kong) -- There's no getting around a simple fact. It's a zoo here. For the iconic panoramic view, this is probably Hong Kong's top tourist attraction, and Jamie W and I felt it the minute we queued for the Peak Tram. Packed like sardines behind a dark portal, we were freed to gun for the best seats on the tram. Once we arrived at the Peak a fleet six minutes later, we were prodded like cattle into the crowded souvenir shopping area where we figuratively swam upstream to get to the top of the tower. We had already paid the HK$61 for the Special Combo pack, a round-trip ticket on the tram plus access to Sky Terrace 428, the top of Peak Tower. We had to wait for ignorant tourists who didn't know they had to pay for the rooftop terrace view. No big shocker that it was packed once we got there. They even built a second terrace level to accommodate more people, but getting a quality photo of the skyline was still challenging. The rest of Peak Tower is a shopping mall of little consequence. If that wasn't enough retail therapy for you, there was another mall just across the plaza, Peak Galleria. We were done though. We got our pics, so we were ready to get back on the tram. We regretted buying a round-trip ticket because we could've walked down, but then again, the path back looked pretty crowded. Just gird your loins and do it. RELATED - Exploring Hong Kong? The view is gorgeous! It was neat cause while we were appreciating the view, there was a swarm of dragonflies I believe are good luck ! One of the places to visit if you are sight seeing in Hong Kong.

Came here in the Summer of 2019. It took awhile to get up there, but it was worth the hassle as the views were quite breathtaking. There's professional photo opportunities, but they were quite expensive. We settled on taking our own photos. It would have nice to come here at night, but our time was limited. We would definitely come back!

Victoria Peak is a must visit attraction in Hong Kong! I've never walked the way up, however, I can tell you that the Peak Tram is a great way to get to the top! The views are INCREDIBLE and once you reach the top of the mountain, you will be met with the Peak Galleria and the Peak Tower. The observation deck is free of charge and I highly recommend going because you will be able to get the most amazing view of Hong Kong. The Peak Galleria & the tower is where you'll also find a plethora of shops and dining options. MUST VISIT, HIGHLY RECOMMEND EXPERIENCE ;)

We took a tour that involved going up on the tram and not waiting in the long line. Loved it. However when we went, it was windy, foggy and cold. It would have been a beautiful view had it been sunny. Would do it again. It's a must do when visiting Hong Kong.

It was a really good view! Loved it and will be coming back here when it's not so cloudy.

Photo for reference of how packed it was. It was beyond crowded when we went, so if you're claustrophobic, beware!

First & only time I will ever visit Victoria Peak, lol. If it is your first time visiting Hong Kong & you love scenery, I would definitely recommend visiting here at least once because the view is amazing, BUT if you're claustrophobic, I would advise against it. We did go during summer break, so that was most likely why it was beyond packed. We decided to purchase tickets for the tram & skyline for the experience. It felt a bit overwhelming having to wait in line to purchase the tickets because the lines were quite long. For some reason, I did not anticipate that it'd be that long. While waiting, we were told that we could purchase tickets online, but we were already half way through the line, so we just decided to ride it out. After we purchased our tickets, we made our way to the waiting area for the trams. During this time, we found our experience to be very chaotic & hectic due to a group of rude mainland visitors who intentionally cut us in line. My bf & I were lined up in the front when this girl & her 2 friends were behind us. Overtime, she made her way in front of me & decided to bolt towards the tram once the doors opened while her two friends were behind us, LOL. This already made it a negative experience for us. Once we got onto the tram, we got to experience a beautiful scenic ride on the way to the peak. We were dropped off below the peak where we had to take escalators up to the peak. After exiting the tram, we were surrounded by lots of gift shops & restaurants spread across multiple floors. We were very surprised to come across the restaurant Bubba Gumps. We thought it was just an LA thing, lol. Once we made our way to the peak, it was so overcrowded to the point that I didn't think that we'd even get a chance to enjoy the scenery or even take a photo of it. It was definitely hard to enjoy the view when you're short & everyone is almost skin to skin touching due to the excessive crowd & that is the ultimate deciding factor as to why I will never visit here again, unless there is some sort of crowd control set in place. I was able to capture some photos & videos of the view because a group of kind tourists who were just hanging around against the railing let me get in front of them to take a few snaps when I politely asked. :) If you're bold, I'd highly suggest asking, or you will struggle to get a good snap of the view, lol. I was in & out of there once I captured my shots. Negatives aside, there's no denying that this experience is pretty cool & the view is beautiful. Who knows, maybe it's far less packed during other seasons, but I think it's hard to say because this is a very popular tourist hotspot, so it's possible that it might be overcrowded all year round. By the time we finished exploring the peak, we had planned to take the tram back down, but the line was insane, so we decided to go explore the Peak Galleria mall right outside. Unfortunately, it was a little late, so majority of the stores & restaurants were either closed or closing up. I really liked the mall, so we have plans to come back again solely to explore the Galleria. It was our first time visiting, so we weren't sure of how to get back down from the Peak, but after exploring the mall briefly, we found our way back down without having to take the tram.

One of the highest places of HK, where you can see much of the city and the harbor. There's a paid tram that you can take at the base of the peak (make sure to grab a seat quickly), or if you're up for it, a very, very steep and strenuous hike up to the peak. Once you're at the top, there are food vendors and shops. Though you can pay for the sky terrace for a better view, I don't think it's necessary especially if the forecast is cloudy or foggy. There's also a lookout point a short distance to the left of the top escalators in the shopping area where you can take great pictures. Be warned that there are many, many rude tourists here, and they won't hesitate to take your tram seat or scenic view spot if you aren't assertive!

Ben Y.

Definite must see if you are visiting HK. Amazing views of the iconic HK Skyline. You gotta pay extra to go up to the observation platform which is "kind of" worth it. It's generally pretty crowded and you have to fight for a spot to take your photos. A better location would be to exit the buliding and go off to the side to the Lion pavillion. Go down to the lower floor of the pavillion and there will most likely be very few to no one there. The view is pretty much the same as the observation deck. There are also some restaurants and shopping at the peak

Absolutely gorgeous albeit a bit exploited. How many other mega cities in the world can you get a view over like this without riding an elevator? where the entire city's skyline lies at your feet. It's crowded, and due to that fact we passed on the charming train to the top and opted for a quick winding taxi ride. The views were breathtaking during our night visit and I can't imagine a time of day when it wouldn't be.

City lights at night.

That's why there are helpful automatic walkways and escalators under long canopies over certain roadways. That was definitely a smart urban renewal move built back in the '90's, but Pottinger Street has been left intact. This atmospheric walkway consists of a series of steps and inclines on terra firma and retains its vintage Hong Kong charm with seemingly random stone slabs that connect Connaught Road Central up to Hollywood Road. Souvenir kiosks line the street on both sides, and they apparently change depending on the holiday season. The Chinese used to mainly live west of the street and westerners to the east. Today there are various vendors selling trinkets and services such as caricature painting on the street. There are 2 tours available daily at 11:15 and 2 pm. And an extra tour at 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are available online. The tour runs about 45 min to an hour and they are wheelchairs accessoble . About our tour, our tour guide took us around to show the three groups of building and how streamline it is from being arrested, to brought up to the court and finally being jailed, all in the same compound. There are also stories about the mango trees at the main court, histories of the life of policemen and the cases of prisoners trying to escape. I let give basic idea of where things are, so that you can go back to tour in details. As you walk arpund the compound, you will started to see tea house for dim sum, bars that used to be prisoner's cells, called being bars ( I thought it was a very clever name and literal), and quaint little areas where it seems to have live music at night when the bars are open. I am not sure about what the bars served as they seem to be fairly new and not sure if they are open for business, but the tea house by the court was a nice stop to rest . Dim sum that we're served are all vegetarian style, a bit pricey but a nice resting place with good tea. The most interesting part of this compound is probably going to be the jail. Especially when you look up and see the tree story tall jail from inside, it felt like being in a movie. I really enjoyed touring around this place, not only because it has all these new repurposed restaurants, but also a nostalgic place for me. I remember how I used to get off from school and walked along the high prisons wall and wonder what's it is like inside, and after 20+ years passed and I finally get to see the inside of it.
