This well-kept park is a great spot to eat your lunch and visit solo or with family. It's relatively peaceful within city life. A sculpture walk features about 20 tall figures of stunning anime characters. An aviary boasts parakeets and other beautiful birds while little lakes house water features/fountains and tons of little turtles. A Maze Garden features low shrubbery walls and a short walk away, a playground for young children (probably up to 10 years old) has nice jungle gyms with plenty of slides and potential activities. **Mostly wheelchair accessible, though ramps are sometimes hard to find or end abruptly. **Free except there's a fee to access a swimming pool and a sports complex. **Walkable from Hotel Madera. read more

We visited the aviary, flamingos were fun to watch, playground kept kids happy. The swimming pools looked impressive. But it rained and became excessively humid on this early July visit. The discovery park tower was commandeered by loitering Indonesians which prevented kids from using it for play. We did manage to stay for the Kung fu demonstration and was happy to see young kids taking on the art form. read more

This is by far the best park in HK for me (next to the park somewhere near the peak tram). Aside from it being spacious, there are also a lot of things to do here. There are a lot of parts where it´s totally peacefully and it was nice to walk around these areas. Kowloon Park was amazing! I highly recommend visiting here. It's like the Central Park of Hong Kong, a neat park with gardens and pools tucked in within the city. It was really easy getting here by walking from Kowloon Station, but transportation is so easy to use in Hong Kong in general so you could take a bus or subway to get here too (or taxi for that matter). If you decide to spend a day around here there's a lot of shopping, food, and activities within walking distance. The park was very peaceful - gardens, pools, mazes - lots of photo opportunities and I noticed it was not too tourist-y. There were parents with kids playing and locals doing morning tai chi. Plus they have free wifi here!! I highly recommend visiting this spot, definitely on my list to explore more for next time! read more

If you like birds, come here! I came here with my parents during my last visit to Hong Kong a few weeks ago. Nestled in the heart of Tsim Tsa Tsui/Kowloon, Kowloon Park offers many great paths for strolling along - whether you are a single person, a couple, friends, or a family! Many trees surround you as you enter the park, making this place a welcoming environment to escape the afternoon heat. There is a pond with hundreds of pink flamingos (who ever said flamingos were only in Florida?), as well as an area with caged tropical birds, such as parrots, nearby the "flamingo pond". Of note, there is no fee to enter the park as it is a public park. There are various entrances into the park, but the main ones are on Nathan Road (I took the entrance right by the Luk Fuk Jewelry shop). Kowloon Park definitely is worth visit if you're in the Tsim Sha Tsui area as it's near the clock tower, space and art museums, and by the waterfront promenade with excellent views of HK island. Come check out a glimpse of the more natural "jungle" (it's not just concrete!) that is Hong Kong. read more

Kowloon Park is a nice and relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Smaller 'parks' within Kowloon Park are the aviary section, the sculpture park, a maze garden... just to name a few. There are several water ponds with natural inhabitants (eg turtles, koi, ducks, cranes) that are fun to admire. Running parallel to Nathan Road, where several shopping malls are located, Kowloon Park provides a nice break from shopping. There are plenty of trees that provide sufficient shade so you're not directly under the sweltering heat. Definitely worth an hour or two's visit if you're in Tsim Sha Tsui. read more

If Hong Kong Park in HK is to Central Park in NYC, then in theory Kowloon Park should be Prospect Park, but due to size and amenities ends up looking more like Astoria Park instead. Relatively speaking Kowloon Park is small, but there is really so much to do and see. I would consider it a must visit when coming into TST. Like all good things in life, admission to the park is free. This has to be emphasized given how expensive HK is and the overwhelming things to do from within the park. The only places that require an admission fee is at the Sports Centre and Swimming Pool. Everything else is free game. This is definitely a family fun destination for everyone as there are plenty of playgrounds, sports areas, exercise spots, and hiking trails. In addition there are a lot of designated gardens that vary from the vibrant Colour Garden to getting lost in the Maze Garden. The photo-opportunities are limitless, especially on a good weather day. The hustle and bustle of Nathan Road and the chaos from the adjacent streets make this park a really great place to get away from it all. I have spent many afternoons here pondering life, getting my fair share of people watching in, and pretending that I'm in some nature oasis in a sea of skyscrapers. read more

Large and peaceful park - this place is great for taking a stroll and to take you out of the craziness of the city life. Besides all the lakes, trees and benches to take in, there are points of interest too. There is the Avenue of Comic Stars with large life size statues of anime characters. There is an aviary with many different species of birds like flamingos. There is also an aquatics center located within with several public pools. Ah yes, the green oasis in the heart of Kowloon. Many a tourist have been here and a lot of Southeast Asian people frequent this park, possibly due to its proximity with Chungking Mansions. But did you know that Kowloon Park has been around for 44 years? It wasn't until 1989 that the park is what we know today - a bustling 13 hectare with an aviary and a bird lake, and generally, a great place to relax and bond with nature after shopping at the nearby Canton Road. There are 11 ways to get to the park in all four directions: from Austin Road (the main entrance), Canton Road, Haiphong Road, and Nathan Road. In the morning, as with all parks, you will see a lot of elderly practicing their tai chi or joggers doing their laps around the park. At lunch time, a lot of workers nearby either bring their packed lunch here or order take-out and sit in one of the hundred benches scattered across the park. I, for one, prefer to visit the park during the late afternoons until the early evening, with the cool evening breeze sweeping across the park. During the winters, I frequent the park because of the indoor swimming pool as all other swimming pools (the outdoor ones) are closed for maintenance. When I was young, I frequented this park a lot and was intrigued by the flamingos in the bird lake. I have decided write about Kowloon Park because my office window can look over this park and I stare at it 10 hours a day in most of my work days. Located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon Park is the "Central Park" of Kowloon. Kowloon Park is one of the biggest public parks in Hong Kong, with 13.3 hectares (33 acres) in size. Kowloon Park is a short walk from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station. Exit A will lead you to the edge of the park. It's west of Nathan road, East of Canton Road, South of Austin Road, and North of Hai Phong Road. There are multiple entrances to the park at your convenience. Home to the Kowloon mosque, some superb greenery, birds and an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Kowloon Park is visited by many tourists because of its beautiful scenic, wide range of flowers, birds, and trees, and historical buildings. This is also a local hot spot for morning joggers, swimmers, dog walkers, Tai Chi workout, and 'public square dance'. Many of you may not know this fun fact. Kowloon Park was officially opened in 1970, so it's been around for 44 years. The park was formerly the site of the Whitfield Barracks of the British Army, with a former battery (Kowloon West II Battery) in the northwestern part of the Park. This is not just a public park with greenery and fountain. You will quickly notice the flamingo lake. There are over 200 different wild bird species can be found in the Park. The Conservation Corner, Color Garden, Chinese Garden, Bird Lake and Fitness Trail are ideal spots for wild bird watching Indoor and Outdoor Swimming Pool It may not look like a Olympics Stadium, but this pool hosted the 2009 East Asian Games. It includes four indoor heated pools, including an Olympic sized 50-meter main pool, two 25-meter training pools, and a 20-meter diving pool. Outdoors swimming pools are great for kids. There are leisure pools of irregular shapes linked together by waterfalls, a circular paddling pool, and sunbathing areas. Hong Kong Heritage and Discovery Centre One preserved historic barrack, Block S58, is used as a godown of Hong Kong Museum of History. Three other preserved buildings of the former barracks are used as museums. There are a pair of identical two storied colonial military barrack blocks. The roofs are pitched with Chinese tiles with tar finish. They housed the former Hong Kong Museum of History from 1983 to 1998 before the completion of the present Hong Kong Museum of History at Chatham Road South. An extension block linking the two historical barracks was constructed in the 1980s to provide more space for the museum facilities. It now houses the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre. The Piazza at the center of the park hosts regular events and live performances, including Chinese festival related programmes. I ended up walking through Kowloon Park on the way to a walking tour in Tsim Sha Tsui. The park has free government sponsored WiFi throughout. There is an Aviary with parrots and other birds that you would not normally see in the wild. Flamingos live in one of the many water features scattered through the park. Paths are well maintained and cleaned. A horticulture festival with educational and interactive exhibits was taking place there when I visited. There's also a walkway connecting the park to the waterfront area. I'll probably visit this park again when visiting Hong Kong in the future to explore the other areas. read more

Kowloon Park has a very special place in my heart. I have a lot of fond memories as a kid coming with my parents and/or grandma. We used to live across the street so they'd always take me here. I would always love coming to the swimming pool and then eating nearby afterwards. In my recent trip back to HK, I made it a priority to come back to my old stomping grounds. After all these years, not much has changed. There are flamingos in various parts of the park, and there is an area where you can do some bird watching. Lots of great photo opportunities here with nature. If you're a tourist, I strongly recommend NOT to come here on Sundays. It gets somewhat packed (but it's still a very big and spacious park) and there are barely any benches to sit and enjoy the sights and environment around you at this park. read more

We happened to stumble upon this cute little park after the typhoon because the sidewalk was blocked off by a fallen tree. There are small and large statues of different comic characters. We didn't get a chance to see the nice garden because it was late. But definitely worth a visit from the busy Kowloon city. read more

This was an awesome park. Admittedly, I'm pretty biased to Asian style parks. After living a short while in Japan, I really do like the eastern style parks. What makes Kowloon Park so great are all the little sites to see there. Including but not limited to: a WWII battery, a FREE aviary, and the Avenue of Comic Stars. There's also an awesome swimming center, and this is all aside from the nature that is abundant. It is nice just to walk around and kind of get away from the city, even though you are in the city center. Not a must see, but if you have some free time, this place is totally worth it! read more
