Victoria Park is another spot of memory for me. This is always where we embarked on our city tracing game. This is where we could have different kinds of crazy tasks to finish due to its multi-purpose function. This is also where we kept on sweating when running from the west side of the park to the east side... I'll regard it as the best friend of the Hong Kong Central Library on the opposite side - as they're HUGE. The Library can store tons of books and periodicals, but still welcome the recent arrivals. Likewise, Victoria Park can accommodate thousands and thousands of people, but still have space for newcomers. You can do various, if not every, kinds of sports here, e.g. tennis, bowling, swimming, football, basketball and jogging. You may feel compelled to exercise here!
I went to Victoria Park a few days ago as a helper of a city tracing activity. When I arrived there at around 8:15, there were middle-aged and elderly people doing tai chi in near the water fountain. There was also a group of ladies dancing with some soft Chinese songs. As I arrived early I walked around the central lawn for a while. There is a jogging trail where many people jogged in the early morning when the sun isn't that scorching. The six football pitches appeared to be relatively small just because the park was large - just like having a grand piano inside a spacious theatre. When all the helpers gathered we were supposed to spread around the park and separate with each other so as to let the participant find us. The only hint was a photo on Instagram showing some features of our whereabouts. I stood beside the children's play area and waited. There was a pebble walking trail inside the area and the first task in the park is to walk through the trail while carrying another participant! From my own experience I prefer not wearing my socks when massaging there as otherwise it'll be super painful. Anyway the group I was with did quite a nice job and they finished the task quickly. Then we started running to the Central Library, and of course, the non-stop whole-day "running training" started! If I come here again I'll wear my sportswear! Time to keep fit! read more
