Hidden af place but I love it. Away from all the tourists, here you find locals and other adventurous travelers bringing their dogs to play and run around. This place is NICE and so much hidden paths to walk on I didn't see how far one of them went. I hope it stays lightly walked because I can't describe the full beauty in pictures. I can definitely see wedding photos taken here, and given how little damage this place has after 1 week of a Typhoon, it's a real gem to come here. To get there from the peak, you get off on the rightmost path from the Peak Tram then walk until you find a zig zag walkway up on the left. Go up and you'll hit some giant houses and a road. Follow the road up until you hit the spot. Really cool, and I love the calming atmosphere. read more

You know what's better than taking romantic wedding photos with your significant other at a beautiful garden? Creeping on couples taking romantic wedding photos because you want to explore the beautiful garden, but can't do it without getting in the way. Sorry to those 5 or 6 couples, but you might have some sweaty people sneaking around with a selfie stick in the background of your pictures. Victoria Peak Gardens is NOT the Peak. I'm seeing a lot of reviews/pictures of the Peak on this page. NO! The Peak is a cool observation point of the city crammed with tourists and surrounded by super overpriced food. Victoria Peak Garden is about a 10 minute walk up the mountain, where tourists usually forget to venture. You pass by excessive rich-people condos and lush green pastures, where people are lying on picnic blankets and taking pretty photos. Near the top of the mountain is a lovely garden (which is supposedly filled with flowers, but it was just green and brown when I went) with a fancy gazebo smack dab in the middle. No wonder dozens of people were taking wedding photos here when I went. It was absolutely gorgeous! It made me think of some sort of Asian drama fairytale ending scene, where the main characters finally confess their love and kiss each other after 30 episodes. I can practically hear the ballad playing in the background. So yeah. Come here to get away from the smog and the gaggle of tourists from the Peak to breathe in some nature. Or to sneak up on some unsuspecting couples who really don't want you there. Or to dance around/make out with your SO like you're a star in a soap opera. What a beautiful spot in Hong Kong to relax, breathe, and take in the views! The gardens here are absolutely underrated, but for those willing to hike a little more, you will surely be rewarded. On my stopover in Hong Kong, my friend suggested I check out the gardens since I had already experienced The Peak. I thought to myself: why not do both? Since they're both in the same area anyway! After a sweaty hike up to The Peak, I took 15 more minutes to come check out the garden and was thrilled that I did. This area was simply peaceful. The gardens have wide open spaces where you can have a picnic and enjoy some people watching, dog playing, or simply immerse yourself in an environment where cameras and selfie sticks reign supreme. The views of Hong Kong from here are equally as breathtaking. You can see the shoreline away from the city lights with glitz and glamour, and appreciate the natural beauty that the Pacific has to offer. On a blue, sunny day, this was perfect. Highly recommend that you check out the garden. Take a stroll, admire the serene nature of what is commonly ignored in such a concrete jungle. You will not regret it. read more

One could say this is an underrated, hidden gem. Victoria Peak Garden is not to be confused with the popular tourist attraction, Victoria Peak. (To review that famous landmark, go here: https://www.yelp.com.sg/biz/太平山頂-香港-2) Once you arrive at the Peak via Peak Tram or Bus 15, you'll have to hike up Mount Austin Road, past the playground, and further up 'til you reach the end of the road to the garden. If you're not into walking uphill, it might be best to take a cab, though I'm not sure how easy it would be to get a cab going back down. Reading past reviews, it looks like people come here to picnic, which makes sense- there's lots of open spaces and benches to enjoy a meal. I also saw a few wedding photo shoots take place at the many gazebos scattered across the garden. At the very top, you'll be able to see views of the more "tranquil" side of the island. I saw 2 dog walkers bring 6+ dogs with them so they could get their exercise, so definitely bring your fur babies if you'd like! Dogs + picnics + greenery + great photo opps + peaceful views? Uh, obviously this deserves 5 stars! read more

This is the place I had longed for visiting someday in Hong Kong. To go to the peak, I rode on the tram.The tram was so thrilling because it went up a very steep slope with high speed. I was already excited before arriving at the top. After reaching the station, the observatory was nearby it. The night view from the peak was so beautiful beyond expression!! I just forgot the bustles of big cities, I felt drawn to innumerable building lights. It was a blissful time!! read more

Went here by accident! And loved it. Will definitely be back. Taxied up with a friend visiting from the States and this was an unexpected gem. Views aren't amazing compared to some of the others on the Peak, but the dogs are cute, everyone is taking a million pics, bathrooms are clean, and it's a nice open space. I will be back with a boxed wine and a journal soon! It's that chilled out. read more

It's one of the most iconic urban views in the world - how can you NOT give The Peak five stars? Get up there and walk around enjoying the view in every direction. We did not take the tram, but rather took Bus 15 from the ferry terminal (the ferry is awesome too, btw). I was worried this would be some run down crowded local bus, but it was really nice! The bus was very clean and had rows of seats (and plenty of them). It's a double decker, which is a lot of fun for us cheesy American tourists. The bus route winds up through a beautiful and very ritzy looking neighborhood before arriving at the top. And it was cheap too! Be warned if you get carsick - the ride is CURVY! One lady on our bus lost her lunch, fortunately into a plastic bag. read more

This has to be one of the greatest green spots in Hong Kong. I have been there three or four times and every time I fall in love more and more with it. The fact that you have to go up to the Peak and then hike up to this point explains why it's never too busy. You have to plan (for transport and food) in advance but in return you get stunning views of Victoria Harbor and the city from the pavilion at the top. A sunset in a clear day up there it's pure bliss, especially if you've been hiking for a while and this is at the end of your route, as a couple of us did a few months ago, on my first visit to Victoria Peak. We then went down to the actual gardens and walked around and continued to the mall. But as I walked past, I decided I was coming back for a day there, to chill out, read, play with the dogs (they are allowed there) and soak in some sun. And so we did, on a bright sunny day, not too warm though. We had packed our lunches and books and we spent the day there until the sun set. We went down to that smaller patch with the three pavilions and a few scattered benches and picked one for the two of us. And all we did was sitting there, chatting, eating and even snoozing at times. There was a couple getting their wedding pictures done and a lot of dogs, which made it look like a proper park-y stamp. We didn't wait until the sunset, as if was getting cold and decided to make a move, but it's worth staying and getting up to the pavilion to admire amazing Hong Kong from atop! read more

This really should be your first stop in Hong Kong, for you can't beat the views or the greenery. Between this location and The Peak below, you are guaranteed some wonderful postcard shots to make friends and family extremely jealous. Victoria Peak Gardens have got to be the most beautiful gardens in Hong Kong and are still a relatively hidden gem. On the sunniest of weekends, you'll still only have to share the sprawling lawn with a couple of other parties. I like to take a picnic up and lounge on the grass for a few hours with a book. Whilst technically they are meant to be on a leash, dogs run freely in Victoria Peak Gardens and the stream is a great place for them to cool off. There is also a hose and tap to spray your pet down if they get too muddy. The flower beds are worth an explore - the hydrangeas are awe inspiring when in full bloom. There are also paths running along the outskirts of the gardens which are fine for baby buggies. A collection of pagodas is scattered about the park, some with seating and some not - either way, you're welcome to make use of them. Apparently they are part of the personal collection of a former Hong Kong governor. There are also picnic benches for those that prefer not to bring their own blankets. However, I prefer kicking back on the grass and staring at the sky. It's amazing watching birds of prey glide around looking for their next meal. With the stream and all the greenery, the only downside to the gardens are the mosquitoes. Spray up before you head up and make sure you have everything you need with you as it's quite a walk to a store. read more

To be honest, I have never gone up to The Peak during peak hours. (Wait, isn't that The Peak is almost packed with tourists so when exactly do you go to The Peak?) Hmm... Crowd is not my favourite and let alone being stuck with tons of people shouting constantly so I choose to go up to The Peak in late night. Yup, you heard me right. You will see The Peak in a completely new perspective. Instead of a popular place flood with tourists, you now see a place with tranquility and still are able to enjoy the view of Victoria Harbour. You may need to rely on your feet to get up there and get down. (It might take a while but it is definitely worth it. As a local, I do not really need to buy any souvenirs so I can skip all those gift shops and see this place as it is. The Peak has always been my favourite hide-out where you can talk with your friends with liquors in your hands (I am SO NOT encouraging this.) without worrying about anyone or anything. It is a really place and the best of all, it is free of charge. Try it, you may enjoy this. Unfortunately I did not take pictures for this mainly because my camera sucks at night... and if you want to see how great the night view is... I am sure those pictures on Google will be much better than mine... read more
