It was much better than the next week, which was rainy and cloudy. The Big Buddha is a giant bronze statue built in 1993. It is located at Ngong Ping, near the Po Lin Monastery. Even though this was not our first time visiting (our daughters' first time), it was still an unforgettable trip. After we rode the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, we arrived at the beautiful village. Then, we saw the Big Buddha right in front of us. The area felt very peaceful. We climbed up more than 250 steps to reach the bottom of the statue. From the top, we saw amazing views of the green mountains, the blue sea, and other smaller statues. If you want to avoid big crowds, I highly recommend going early in the morning!

While the bus is cheaper and good for people who are afraid of heights, it takes much longer, about 50 to 60 minutes. The mountain roads are also very winding, which can make some people feel dizzy. My husband and I rode the Crystal Cabin to see the Big Buddha on our last trip. Since it was our daughters' first time in Hong Kong, we really wanted them to try it, too. They do have regular cabins without clear floors, but none of us are scared of heights, so we happily chose the glass-bottom one. We bought our tickets early on Klook. It was much cheaper than buying them at the gate. We also chose to visit on a weekday, which was a great choice because it was not crowded at all. I still remember our last visit ten years ago was super packed, and people had to wait in huge lines just to get on. The cable car ride takes about 25 minutes each way. We only bought a one-way ticket this time because we wanted to visit Tai O Fishing Village afterward. It was a fun, smooth, and beautiful 25-minute ride. We loved looking down at the green hills, seeing waterfalls, and watching the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery come into view. Surprisingly, it was not hot at all, and it felt pretty cool up there on the mountain. It was truly amazing!

We got there around 10am on a Saturday and purchased tickets at the gate and didn't have a wait. Weekend tickets are more expensive, but we didn't have a choice with our schedule. I opted for the crystal glass cabin which I highly recommend for that full 360 degrees experience. The cabin has a clear glass bottom. The line for the crystal glass cabin is significantly shorter than the standard one too so avoiding the wait alone is worth it. Each one way ride is actually longer than I thought it would be so well worth the price. There's of course the giant Buddha to see at the top. There's also a few hiking trails. There are a lot of restaurant options at the top, but I suggest having lunch at their vegetarian cafe by the monastery- it's unique and delicious .

Visited the Peak around 8:30-10:00 p.m. after returning from Macau to catch the iconic Hong Kong…read morenight view right before an incoming typhoon. It turns out everyone else had the exact same plan, so it was extremely crowded. The views were absolutely stunning and well worth seeing, but keep in mind that waiting for the return bus late at night can take a while when crowd levels are high. Taking the bus up along Stubbs Road offers a great, scenic route to the top. Highly recommend visiting for late-night city views. Just be prepared for potential queues.

If you like outdoors and able to tolerate the humidity, I suggest walking up (takes about an hour) and take the tram down. Taxi/car is another option. If you're lazy like me, we took the tram up and down. We also didn't buy tickets in advance or Edge Observation Deck since my schedule was ever changing. It does get crowded on the weekend and during sunset hours. The tram ride is about 10 minute or so. It was quick. There are a bunch of shops, and restaurants. We were happy to see another Bakehouse up there and grab some pastries. We walked around, took lots of pictures and spent about 30-60 min here. Highly recommended.

We decided to skip the Symphony of Lights because we had already watched it on YouTube and didn't think it was something we needed to see in person. Instead, we spent our time strolling along the waterfront, both during the day and at night, and we enjoyed it so much more. On our second day in Hong Kong, we walked along the waterfront before taking the Star Ferry to Wan Chai. The harbor views were beautiful during the day, but the nighttime scenery was even more spectacular. The city lights reflecting on the water created an unforgettable view, and I ended up taking tons of photos! We were also happy that our hotel was within walking distance, so we visited the waterfront several times during our trip. Whether you're taking a leisurely walk, enjoying the harbor views, or simply relaxing by the water, the Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront is definitely a must-see when visiting Hong Kong.

Who knew about this...not me but luckily we were guided by locals which are a friend of a friend and both Andrew and Cindy did an amazing job taking us around the island and choosing this stop not just to take a much needed break for restrooms and something to drink as well since it was a very hot day viewing the scenery. Parking is a challenge here though many seem to take the tram or bus getting here which I just can't imagine as it certainly is accessible but never imagine is a spot to be to get the "Peak" views which we were told is not necessary and is a tourist trap and instead to a short walk to the back of the mall to Lion's Pavilion down Findlay Path which offers a fantastic view at no cost which was fast and easier than what I understand going up The Peak Tower Sky Terrace. Lots of shops from Starbucks to Mcdonald's though it was grabbing a cup of fresh tea made gave me the happy moment reviving the exhaust in me and on this Sunday afternoon there were many families here to enjoy the various activities and can see why many to flock over here unless you're an introvert, it's a great place to relax, enjoy and just take in the lovely view for all ages. We were hoping to catch a glimpse of the sunset while we were up there and I'm sure others were keen on that as well! Note: We did not have to wait in a long line to get the entry fare for the tram to the peak because we used our Octopus cards. I believe the tram cost was also discounted for Octopus card users. Anyway, the Peak Galleria is a beautiful modern mall situated at the top of Victoria Peak. There were plenty of eateries, cafes, restaurants, and stores to peruse from. The mall was clean, and bright.

This densely populated peninsula( once most in the world w 255500 people/ square mile) has changed so much in the last 300 years from being a military outpost, a fort, the ungoverned enclave, the " Walled City" then a self organized residential monolith to it's eventual destruction; now it has the tranquil Walled City Park, the amazing and appetizing " Little Thailand", high end shopping in Tsim Sha Tsui. Do not miss out on the epic Sneakers Market on Fa Yuen St, the Ladies Market and the fun Goldfish Bazaar. Grab some awesome dim sum and fish balls as you browse through the aromatic Flower Market and make your way for those lovely photos by the legendary Bruce Lee Statue and greet the elders in their Tai Chi class in Kowloon Park. Kowloon is safe. Being a curious and spontaneous nocturnal creature I have loved getting to know my way around this epic area. So please hop on the convenient Airport Express train for the fun 35 minute ride to behold yet another rich place with so much history and culture.

A giant statue of the Hong Kong flower sits prominently in front of Golden Bauhinia Square which is located on Hong Kong Island and is a popular tourist destination as it sits right along Victoria Harbour and with that there's no designated parking spot but we were blessed to have a friend that took us around the island and dropped us for a quick pic and to enjoy the stunning glory that represents Hong Kong. Yes it's absolutely a tourist spot as you need to be a bit patient to get a clear shot of it while avoiding locals making the most of it by asking for money in exchange to take your and/or group shot of it with ease. There's many spots to enjoy on this island and though this is a simple yet complex spot to get to does give you a lovely view of the harbour taking in the beauty that Hong Kong has to offer. Compared to the many landmarks and tourist attractions in Hong Kong (#1), the Golden Bauhinia…read more(金紫荊廣場) is not terribly impressive beyond its tasteful design and prominent position in front of the HK Convention Centre. It stands 6 meters tall overlooking the beautiful Victoria Harbour and faces the mighty skyscrapers of Kowloon. For those not in the know, this is where the "Handover" occurred (#2) almost exactly 20 years ago. Every single day there is a flag ceremony held by the HK Police Force, who yawnfully raise the flags of China and Hong Kong, while Police Band plays the national anthem, followed by a performance from the Police Pipe Group. This happens daily at 8am and it's a (boring) show from start to finish. Of course, a majority of the people here are heaps of tourists who came off of a shuttle bus. It's an attraction, but not a serious one. I'd bundle it along the same lines as the Symphony of Lights (https://www.yelp.com/biz/uNe6EPhUrC2sm-IHohSR2Q), just worse music and way less colorful. ___________ (#1) Is there more awe than the Tian Tan Buddha?
