We also ordered an extra bowl of just fish balls and fish cake. Noodles were slightly soft, not soggy and fish balls were good. My friend and her husband was craving wontons in chili oil and braised beef with tendons and okra. They really enjoyed their dishes. Everything we ordered was good, but I'm docking off a star for the servers in the restaurant (who weren't Chinese BTW and we weren't sure whether to speak in Chinese or English?). Just to get someone to take our order was a huge undertaking in waving them down, trying not to get enraged from their piss-and-vinegar faces. :(

Some would call this the upscale version of Denny's (for my fellow Americans out there), but the only real comparison is that it's a chain. The food here is legit. All the HK cafe staples you'd need and want. And then some. Staff is okay. Nothing terribly rude, as you'd expect from any Chinese restaurant. There's English and photos throughout the menu, so that was extremely helpful. We ordered the Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup in Fish Broth and Scrambled Egg with Sea Bass Chow Fun. And man, both were amazingly delish. Color me impressed. The fish broth was def coming through. The wontons were packed with the shrimp. The sea bass was fresh. The chow fun had the right amount of seasoning. The hot sauce on the side gave the perfect amount of kick I was seeking. And both dishes came out to $17USD. Pretty standard pricing. As for the one star knock down, it's due to the limited breakfast menu. We were so excited from delish midnight snack, that we came back for breakfast two days later. Lines don't lie and I noticed this place always had a steady line. There's a sit-down diner side, and a take-out window. Since I was headed elsewhere I chose to order baos and baked goodies at the window! Auntie was very nice as I approached the window prepared with my fluent Chinglish lol. I ordered my all time favorite, Cocktail Bun. I added HK Egg Tarts and Cha Sui Bao. She packed it in real/time. I paid via Octopus Card. And just like that I was on my way! They are cash only so make sure you have cash if you decide to come. Come early in the morning to avoid crowds, thanks to jetlag getting here at 7:30 was easy and I walked right in. Like many small place in HK expect to share a table if it is packed. Milk Tea: Very simple and traditional, don't expect michelin level taste. It's so good in hot and humid weather. It's brewed right up front using pantyhose as a strainer. Spring onion chicken over dry ramen noodles: The dish they are most known for. This was SO good after a night of drinking and mean whisky breath. The instant noodles are perfectly low-key and great for absorbing all the alcohol. Chicken was delicious and all of it is "activated" by pouring burning oil on the green onions and chicken. Pork Chop Bun: The noodles were enough for me but I really wanted to try this. Tender pork with tomato and mayo in a bun, simple street food that I loved!

The location is on a very narrow street where both pedestrians and vehicles are allowed, so be cautious. There is a sign indicating dine-in or carryout at the entrance of the cha chaan teng so be sure not to stand in the wrong line. The cafe inside is very small and crowded whether you go for breakfast or lunchtime. The space is very limited and if you consider yourself taller than the average person in Hong Kong, be very careful when moving through to sit or stand as there are various ceiling heights in the old building. Service is alright and efficient as most HK cha chaan tengs are expected to be however, I didn't like the attitude of one of the servers who brought out my table's meal as it was not what was ordered. She questioned our order and it was very clear that no one in my group ordered it, yet she insisted that we did. After a bit of back and forth, she decided to swap out the meal for the one we actually ordered. The food was A-OK, nothing particularly spectacular. The toasted and buttered bun was decent but didn't have enough butter not toasty char. The macaroni noodle soup was on the bland side. The hot dog and eggs were very typical. The best thing we had were the milk teas. Prices are very normal for Central but would be considered overpriced in other areas of HK. I'm not planning to make a return unless someone requests it specifically or if I only want to grab a milk tea to-go.

Char Siu and Roast Duck: The barbecued pork is incredible. It's a little smoky and sweet with a nice pink smoke ring. The sticky edges are super crispy from the caramelization and a slight char. You can hear a tiny crunch with each bite. As for the meat, it is more tender than any BBQ or a succulent cut of the finest pastrami. Roast duck is the ultimate pairing for char siu because of its crisp skin and depth of flavors from the five spice, soy, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, and ginger.

All of the meats were fragrant and delicious. I'm partial to the roast pork, since it comes with crispy pork skin. The white rice had good texture, and they weren't stingy with the amount they gave us. But, like the mustard greens that came along with this meal, I wish both of these were actually temperature hot when they served it to us. At best, they were lukewarm and they got cold easily, which I didn't like. The dim sum was pretty good. Not as good as Dimdimsum. But, if we wanted both rice dishes and dim sum, we can come here to get our fix. Just like a diner, this joint is loud and very hustle and bustle.
