When I started to come back to Hong Kong to stay for 2 or 3 months per year about 5 years ago, I…read morepassed by this bakery and thought...wow its still here! Some of the shops around this area has been frozen in time for the last 30+yrs. and still going... A favourite among high school kids around the area, you will have a hard time getting to the counter to order your hot dog, burger or their legendary fried chicken drum stick (HK$19.00 / US$2.40)! So, when I was driving by last night and saw that there was a parking spot on the side street, I jumped out and got my fried chicken! Tasted exactly like in the old days, this is the kind of fried chicken that is pure HK style, no batter or and crumbs on the outside, it was just marinated and put into the deep fryer, the skin could have been a bit more crispy, but I am not complaining too much as the store may be closing down any time as the original owner retires!!

Finally tried the famous pork chop sandwiches from Danish Bakery! Been eyeing it every time I'm in…read morethe area but never had the chance. I went just before 7pm, wasn't too busy, and they were a few customers before me. I saw they also had the fish fillet sandwich and made a mental note to try that next time. I could also see that they were adjusting the prices. I remember walking past the shop when the sandwiches were around HKD14, but now they are about HKD18. Eyy they have to make a living! I saw them fry the pork chop in the deep fryer, with all the oil, hearing the "pop pop" and crackle was like music to my ears. On each side of the bun, he spread some ketchup and mayo, mmmm classic HK style. Mind you, while it is more expensive than a simple burger at McDonald's, I like supporting the local mom and pop shops!

Had this for the first time in japan and absolutely fell in love with it. Glad that I can get these…read moretarts outside of Japan! I like the cheese tarts better in Japan. They are always served warm! I got a cheese tart here and it was cold and they also didn't offer to warm it up. It was still delicious and surprisingly the cheese was still somewhat gooey though most of it solidified to more of a soft cheesecake. Crust is crunchy, thick, and buttery while the filling is sweet, cheesy, rich, and soft. Definitely not like the usual egg tarts you find in HK. Besides the fact that this tart is predominately cheese and not egg, the tart is a lot heavier, creamier and richer in taste and the crust isn't flakely. Tart slightly pricey at $20 HKD but worth every penny!

Obviously this bakery only sells and specializes in cheese tarts. They baked tons of cheese tarts…read moreevery day. Customers could see where the cheese tarts came out from through the window. The servers were very quick and efficient. One server would took the fresh cheese tarts from the baking trays and put them in paper tart containers for sale. One would take the orders and the other one would collect money from customers. Super efficient! Although there was a lineup, I didn't have to wait too long. The cheese tarts were very light and fluffy! They were excellent!! I bought two. I wanted to eat more!! The cheese was very creamy and milky. I wouldn't feel too rich by eating the cheese. The origin of the cheese tarts was Japan. Each tart is quite expensive. It was $20 HKD (about $3.3 each CAD) for a small cheese tart. However, it tasted very delicious that it was worth to try at least once!
