Kam Wah Cafe is also famous for their freshly baked Pineapple Bun and Butter. Can't start your day without some HK Milk Tea and Iced Ovaltine. My son said it's a good thing the nai cha in the states are not as good because he was starting to develop an addiction. Lol. For those of you who don't know, it's made with Ceylon leaves, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The French toast was so damn delicious but a bit indulgent. I do wish I could taste more of the peanuts. My son loved his bolo bao. We also shared a hot bowl of macaroni soup with Spam and lettuce. Thinking back, I regret not trying the Spicy Satay Beef Instant Noodle. I will have to look for this back in the states. The aunties working here are just the most adorable, very kind and welcoming. One of them took the time to help us navigate the huge menu and recommended a few items. I would come back again and again if I could. I have a mad love for these iconic HK Style Cafes aka Cha Chaan Tengs. These affordable quick-paced restaurants were influenced by the city's 150 years of British rule. Aside from the classic breakfast items, they also offer many delicious rice and noodle dishes in the afternoon.

We got here fairly early, so we didn't have to wait for a table. Service was as expected - quick, efficient, and no nonsense. A tell-tale sign of a good HK cafe. The food just hit the spot for me, bringing me right back to my childhood memories of eating this on weekend mornings at our local HK cafe. Note that they don't accept foreign credit cards, so be prepared with cash, Octopus, or Alipay.

This place opened around the end of December 2015? Why is this place called Under Vacuum? Because it is translated from French's word, sous-vide. This meaning a "method of cooking in which food is sealed in airtight plastic bags then placed in a water bath or in a temperature-controlled steam environment for longer than normal cooking times" This place sells slow-cooked beef that goes under an 8 or 48-hour process, or slow-cooked chicken that goes under a 2-hour process as a sandwich. Mm... soft meat. They also sell salads, craft beers (yesssss), special drinks, and desserts (which they partnered with a local source) I was sad that they didn't have any slow-cooked ribs the day I went, but that gives me a reason to come back! And they have a happy hour from 6-9pm: if you order any craft beer, you get 50% off on their snack menu. Whaaat. More reason for me to come back! They have only 4 stools to sit right at their kiosk, but do not fret, there are plenty of chairs around the area, but no table. They also provide plastic gloves for you to eat with. Neat. I waited about.. 10 minutes for my food? I think it was fairly worth it. I wish I could drink their craft beers during lunch time and go back to work...

And you will have to allow time for them to cook, even for a sandwich. Their signature angus beef sandwich is just awesome and goes well with a crafted IPA beer. The ribs is awesome too, with very tender texture. I would like to try out more food from their menu as they are very reasonably priced. There are seats in the centenary garden, but you could always do take away. Or you could stand around the kiosk, which they had a small table for a few couples to stand around.
