I had a FABULOUS first visit today! I bought a spray tan package & got a SUPER great deal on the month. (8 visits) the guy who set up my profile and explained everything to me was super friendly & beyond knowledgeable. I just moved here from Michigan & would highly recommend this place! Not to mention my medium color tan was precisely the color I wanted. A++ read more

Another bad Zoom Tan location. The staff at this one is the worst of all of them. They are not friendly at all. The room I was in was dirty. Overpriced. read more

Recently had a very nice experience at Zoom Tan on Hylan Dr and feel it was worthy of updating my review. I received a birthday coupon for discounted UV and Spray tans and took them up on their offer. Location was clean, organized and overall better atmosphere than previous visits. Megan was at the desk and she was very helpful. Versa Pro Spray is one of my favorites as it has extra dry time than original. I rarely UV tan anymore but their equipment is all stand-ups and all bulbs appeared new and in working order. I was very happy with my short UV session and Spray tan - made me feel a little tropical during winter! read more

DO NOT GIVE ZOOM TAN YOUR INFORMATION. IT IS A SCAM!!!! This is the WORST business. It is predatory and is NOT a safe place to spend your money. They make you "subscribe" when singing up, and then when you cancel they continue to charge you. I have a direct email to customer care from MARCH demanding a FULL refund and Immediate termination of my contract but they have continued to not cancel my "subscription"!! WTF!! I will be taking this to corporate (again for the 3rd time) DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR INFORMATION. IT IS A SCAM!!!! read more

I signed up for a month, it cost me 40$. I didn't plan on them taking it upon themselves to start a payment plan and now I owe 42$, which I have to pay In order to cancel my "account." I'm not even impressed with the standing beds or the quality of my tan. I'm done...stick to mom and pop business's and don't support this monopoly that pulls a bait & switch on you. seriously read more

If I could give this " establishment " zero stars I would. Zoom tan has been charging me for the past 6 months for a service I did not sign up for. I would also like to preface, i have not used any perks of this membership at all, reason being i was unaware of the membership. After cancelling, i called and emailed the zoom tan customer service. They denied me a refund, but offered 1 month back as store credit, which i declined. I will never go back and definitely would not recommend. They are all about the money and all your left with is empty pockets and skin cancer! read more

With spring formal season on its way and the lack of opportunity for some sun here in Rochester, I needed a little tanning pick me up ASAP. Since there are no other tanning salons near RIT I decided to give Zoom Tan a try. Zoom Tan offers both UV and spray tans, both being fairly reasonably priced. All the UV beds are stand up and are a level 5, which if you're familiar with tanning, is a little weird. Because of this, you are able to change the about of minutes you want to tan for. The one really nice thing about Zoom Tan is there are no joining fees or cancellation fees, which is perfect if you're like me and just want to go for a month or so. They also only accept cards, so make sure you have one with you! I was a little skeptical of Zoom Tan because of the fact that are their tanning beds are all identical. After the second week tanning here, I am really impressed! Every time I have visited I have never had to wait, and I go at all different days and times. I've been placed in all different rooms, I believe there are about 20, and have never had bulbs out in a bed. Overall I am very impressed with my tanning results and will definitely be back next time the Rochester weather has got me down. read more

Looking for minimal color? A pushy, uneducated staff? Well, look no further than the Zoom Tan on Hylan Drive! As soon as you walk in you get a whiff of body odor. The staff (if they're ever at the front desk) will greet you with "What's your phone number?" and before you can even get a word out edgewise, they will interrupt you to tell you that they have a special on their $160 bottle of lotion (which you can find on Amazon from a trusted store for about $43) Don't even bother asking for "new bulbs," Zoom Tan only changes them after a significant amount have burned out, or enough people have complained about them. Once you're able to kindly decline the sales pitch about 5 times and waste an additional 6 minutes, you'll be able to get into one of Zoom Tan's famous "Powerful Level 5 Stand-Up" tanning booths. Powerful? There's more radiation coming from my iPhone than there is coming from that sad excuse of a tanning bed. In addition to the all around disgusting and dirty salon, you get an equally if-not-more disgusting room! When the words "powerful" and "level 5" are thrown around in the tanning industry, you think of high pressure UV-A bulbs, a booth with air conditioning and an MP3 hookup. Instead, you get fluorescent lightbulbs, a fan so loud it drowns out the music, and lastly a booth so hot you really need to consider if it's worth it. You can even try and match your footprints with the person who was in there before you! Out of lotion? You can scrape it off the walls and floors that are never cleaned. Sometimes if you're lucky, someone will throw out their half used packet and leave it behind in the bag-less trash cans (Exciting, I know!) Finally after you've wasted 12 precious minutes of your life, you can redress yourself. On your way out, you'll notice the staff put another unsuspecting client into the very same room you were in WITHOUT cleaning it. I compare my experience to be about as relaxing as a dentist visit. If you're looking for a truly horrendous "salon" (a term I will use very loosely) tan at Zoom Tan on Hylan Drive. DISCLAIMER: I worked for Golden Tans before they transitioned to Sun Tan City. It takes about 3-4 minutes to thoroughly clean a stand up tanning booth. That means cleaning the walls, the booth itself, handles, etc. AND taking out the trash that was left in the room. The only location that I've experienced the utmost care and cleanliness is at the location in Gates. UPDATE: Their reply? Unprofessional and sad. I'll never tan anywhere except Maximum Tan. Bye! read more

My wife and I have been with them since 2014 with the grandfathered 12 min UV package when yesterday I noticed my bank statement is NOT showing $10.99 for EACH package. It is showing over $40 for each package. After they moved both locations to an hour away. Yep flew away like a thief in the night and jacked the price. No post card no notice. When you take something from someone without their permission IT'S STEALING BUT WHAT ZOOM DID WAS STRAIGHT UP FRAUD. read more

Machine literally poured rain onto me right after spray tan before the warning it usually gives. Tried waiting for consultant to come out nowhere to be found. Tried calling the customer service lady was rude and did not help me told me I had to pay $10 to re-spray today after waiting on hold for over 20 minutes. Also - I worked at ultra tan and was a manager so I know what I'm talking about They suggested I LEAVE IT ON MY SKIN AND NOT SHOWER - so I can look blotchy? read more

I love my zoom tan. I go to the east Amherst NY on Niagara Falls blvd location. I don't live in that area but I won't go to any other one. I couldn't decide where I wanted to go to start up tanning again and Amherst ny zoom tan was the first place I went n last place I met Britnee and she was so sweet. She explained the entire tanning process to me again and was so much help. She's also very friendly and sweet. That makes it even better when I go. Because of her great customer service I will be staying with zoom tan from now on for my tanning read more

Cheap is not always better. Poor ventilation in the salon and especially in the rooms. I was disappointed when the representative talked me into the higher membership, telling me I could downsize to the $9.99 anytime. That is not true, you can't. It's a one time offer only. Customer service was snarky when I asked if they would honor what I was told. So, I canceled. The salons are clean, however the stand ups floors were questionable. read more

I have been a long time customer of Sun Tan City/Golden Tans and have always been extremely happy with their service. Two months ago, ZoomTan took over, so I decided to give this company a try. When I purchased my membership last month I was working with an associate who truly didn't know the answer to most of the questions that I asked. She was unsure when my monthly payment would come out of my account, etc. She was very sure though that by purchasing the tanning package that I did, it would give me access to ANY tanning bed within the salon. Fast forward to this month, when I walked into the salon I asked to tan for the full time in "room 1" which is a 12-minute lay down bed in the salon. I was informed that my package didn't include that bed. I told the salon worker that I was extremely confused at hearing this, because I when I purchased my package I was told I could use any bed in the place. The worker told me that I must have worked with _____________ and that she must have not known what she was selling me. At this point I'm now hearing that I was lied to about what my package included, and wasn't at all apologized to for this, and the worker didn't seem to really mind that I was shocked/looking extremely dis-satisfied. I emailed the customer service email, received no answer, so I called and was basically told that since ZoomTan will be keeping all the SunTanCity beds for a while, they changed their pricing structure to reflect this recently, so in order to use the beds that I was told I could use, I would NEED TO PAY MORE MONEY, and that they wouldn't do anything to make the situation right even though they changed their policies without informing the customers after I had already paid for the tanning. On top of this occurring, there is ALWAYS a wait when entering the salon. It could be absolutely dead, but somehow the associates never have a bed clean, so I have had to consistently for them to clean the bed. I would NOT recommend this location at all, and after my package expires I will no longer be doing business with this company. read more

This company is awful. The customer service line is a rude person on the other end that cannot help you and gives you an email address to use. You Ema your concerns and the person who emails back ( never identifies themselves) is even ruder. Batavia site is way cleaner than the Hylan drive. Hyland drive site is very dirty with dirty footprints and old hair everywhere. Would not recommend and especially during Covid. Yuck!! zero stars read more

PLEASE see the BBB site for customer complaints. Each post includes a reference to my own experience. I caution anyone considering a membership to see the comments regarding their "cancel at anytime" policy. I tried to cancel multiple times over the course of many months and they continued to draw from my credit card. I finally cancelled the card and assumed it was settled. Nope! They somehow have a contract w/ credit card companies that furnish them w/ your new credit card info and resume billing without notice. Deceptive, unethical company that should be closed down and forced to reimburse all members who have been fraudulently billed and scammed. read more

I love Zoom Tan. I am from another area and relocating to Rochester and there's friendly service at all of them. It is affordable and always clean which I appreciate. I would recommend Zoom Tan for anyone looking to start tanning. They have multiple packages at different price ranges. I have tried the spray tans as well - they do NOT leave you looking orange and blotchy; all you need to do is follow the directions and it will turn out nice. read more

Joined 2 weeks ago. Since then I have had to wait 5-20 minutes on 4 occasions. When I asked what's up they said 2 tanning booths broke and a maintenance worker who left has not been replaced. Not sure they do any "cleaning " between customers. Girls are friendly and polite but broken equipment not being serviced is poor business. read more

Had membership at suntan city, when it was bought by zoom tan I asked to cancel my membership. They didn't cancel it and charged me again today. I called and asked for a refund for this month and they refused. It's not good for business to place unauthorized charges on someone's card. read more

went into henrietta location, explained was going on vacation in two weeks. They recommended a 12x for $70. SHOULD have been recommended ONE MONTH. This location has always been awful. Poor customer service, dirty beds and rooms all the time, and horrible pushy salespeople. Asked for a bed with new bulbs and was told the bulbs were changed "Last Month". There are too many other places in Rochester to tan to give these people your money. I quite literally left and cancelled my membership on the website today. read more

Do NOT purchase more than the monthly membership! I had been using Zoom Tan for over a year prior to recently purchasing an 18 month membership for over $200; only for them to close their Victor location 3 months afterwards and they refused to issue me any sort of refund. I paid for 18 months, only used 3. THEY CLOSED THEIR LOCATION, HOW DOES THAT NOT ENTITLE ME TO A REFUND?! Disgusting business practices, no loyalty to their customers whatsoever. I've since been tanning at Planet Fitness; their beds make Zoom Tan's look like cheap china garbage! I can tan for 5 minutes at PF and get the same color it'd take me 9 minutes at ZT to achieve.. twice as powerful for nearly the same membership price! Wish I never wasted my time with Zoom Tan. read more

Today, I purchased a 6 minute UV standup session at the Victor, NY store. 3 minutes into the session, the UV light turned off. I immediately got dressed and went to the counter to let the associate know what happened. She verified that the light turned off and there was now 1 minute remaining on the clock. Pressed for time, I asked if a 'rain check' was possible. She said that she would have to call into a SERVICE DESK first. After several minutes of waiting, the Associate finally was able to speak to a Service Desk employee. The associate did NOT accurately reflect what happened to me during my session. She told the Service Desk "well, I did see that there was 1 minute remaining". I was furious that I had to stand there while she had a conversation with a Service Desk person. For the $7 or so that the 6 minutes cost, I decided to leave the store. Mr Golisano, if you read these reviews, I would urge you to implement a more 'user friendly' approach to these types of scenarios. Equipment DOES break...I get that; however, as the client, I don't think we should have to wait for resolution from the Store Associate and Service Desk personnel! read more

I have been a customer, for 2 years paying $30 dollars a month for spray tanning. Never had a problem until I went into number 18 using level 2 instant as I ALWAYS had. The sprayer machine was totally off, and had minimal dye coming out, as well as the side of the machine dripping water on me. I came out, got into the car and noticed splotchy spots, and I looked yellow, not bronze. ALL i asked was if I could just have a respray in the other spray unit that was available. The girl at the counter had to call "corporate" and instead of just letting a long term customer who has spent hundreds of dollars, as well as tanning products that they sell in the store--They told me I'd have to give them $10.00. Are you kidding me??? I was on hold with corporate for 17 minutes while she "tested" the machine. --She even told me that a customer earlier complained about the SAME machine! You just lost a customer---GOOD JOB GUYS!! read more

Ever since zoom tan moved to combine with sun tan city the quality of the service has plummeted. I have visited 4 times since the move and have been met with an enormous wait time (30-45 minutes) to get a spray tan. There is always a line and customers are left standing around while the employee holds the customer at the desk to discuss her personal life. It's incredibly aggravating. Additionally, the people that work at this facility are giving customers information regarding skin care products that is frankly a blatant lie. Falsely advertising lotions and pushing customers into sales and upgrades they clearly don't want is not an attractive way to run a business. I wish that the two facilities would separate- I never had a single issue with anyone when zoom tan was across from South Town Plaza. Wholesomely disappointed. read more

I do the 9 minute monthly and it works for me. The salon has a come a long way since I first started going. They have done a lot of renovations and it's looking a lot nicer. They do have a high turnover rate for staff, but most of the girls I have encountered have always been very nice. In the past a few made it seem as if you were bothering them with your presence. Ventilation/cooling still needs some work and not just for the tanners, but the safety of the tanners as well. If the beds overheat they can catch on fire, thankfully have not had to experience that. Lotions are a bit pricy, but that's to be expected at any salon. So if they're ever on sale, grab it then. The girls are generally good at acknowledging your lotion needs and making good recommendations for those needs. If they don't know, I admire their honesty rather than lying. All in all they have come a long way, good for the price and a great location. read more

I'm a college student here in Rochester NY and I signed up for a membership last year. I got the $9.99/mo new member membership which I used for several months and very much enjoyed your salon. It was not made known to me when I got this membership that it was only available that one time. I returned home to a different state and realized there were no zoom tan locations near me for use and cancelled my membership (not knowing I couldn't restart it when I returned to Rochester) since I wouldn't be near a zoom tan for a few months. I spoke to your customer service reps as I cannot afford the non-new member price and wouldn't have given up my new-member membership had I known and they were not apologetic or understanding of the situation given I was not told I couldn't get the same new member price again and that you did not have salons where I was living for a few months. Also, no student discount here! read more
