I once spent $50 on a double French braid here, as a way to manage my hair on a camping trip. The stylist, for one, was miserable, like my request was a burden to her, and two, she didn't use any product. Not a single one. I had to take the braids out within an hour because they looked so bad. That changed though, as I booked an appointment with Jasmine -- thanks to recommendations from friends that have the best hair color/styles (and ironically go to Jasmine too). Jasmine did a stellar job not only cutting my hair, but also coloring (balayage). She was friendly, polite, and was happy to answer my many questions about the process and what she was doing. I'm happy to say I've been consistent with my hair appointments now, since I've FINALLY have a true professional and trustworthy hair stylist. Thank you, Jasmine! I went here today for a cool sculpting consultation and was left alone to see before and after photos on an iPad. The pictures were of women in their undergarments organized into albums labeled with their first and last names. Then, I opened an album that had a picture of someone's entire LICENSE with their photos. I left and called back to speak with the manager, Brittany. I specifically mentioned the license multiple times and she insisted that everyone pictured was fully aware of the situation and had signed waivers. After going back and forth about the legality of this and HIPPA violations, I finally told her I didn't believe people understood what they were supposedly signing off on, so I planned to leave this review. Only then did she put me on hold to look into this. She came back and claimed there was only one license from 2018 mistakenly in the albums. I asked her if they would be informing the person that their license and information was available to people for so long like this, she said they would. I am concerned that she insisted multiple times that people had signed off on their license being with their pictures and changed her response on the "signed waivers" after I mentioned I planned to leave reviews. If you have gone here, I would do what you can to make sure that your license wasn't being made available to people along with your sensitive photos. *I gave one star because my consultation with Jenna was fantastic and I would have loved to work with her* read more

Microblading is the greatest invention since sliced bread! All I can do is rave about my experience. (WARNING: there are many that claim to be microblading professionals but anyone can buy a machine and say they are a specialist- do your homework I who is taking care of your brows!!) Technician: Tori was my microblading technician- She is a legit specialist!! she had me come with my brows already filled in like how I would normally have them everyday so she could see what my preferences were. She then wiped the brows clean and went to measuring- everyone's brows are different for their face and preferences (I like mine big and bushy!) Numbing cream for a couple minutes then she went to work! Sessions: your skin will determine how many sessions you'll need- oily skin people tend to need more. 2 sessions is the average (initial and 1 touch up) oily skin will probably have the initial and 2 touch ups. Touch ups are needed due to everyone's skin being different- some take more sessions (touch ups) for the skin to hold pigment. The first to second touch ups are around 4 weeks apart while your brows are getting used to holding pigment. After that the touch up sessions are annually! (A whole year without having to fill in brows?? YES!) Cost: initial session is $450- that includes your first touch up! After that any additional sessions are $100. Annual sessions are $200. What happens there:The appointment is about 2 hours all together with going over personal care, answering any questions, stop and starting with the actual ink to check and double check placement and symmetry- to add more in specific spots. Note: the numbing cream started to wear off, I opted to not get anymore since she was almost done, but should have added some more numbness- it began to sting a bit and my skin around the brow was red which is as to be expected since it's needle and ink to your face. So don't be alarmed! She kindly sent me home with numbing cream on to sloth the redness and stinging. All in all: she is personable, down to earth and bomb at what she does. She takes pride in her work- you will get fabulous brows!! The fact that I don't have to fill in my brows every day is heaven sent! read more

Back in the summer of this year I was talked into a special pedicure/manicure by a very persuasive and personable young lady, Elizabeth West. At the time Elizabeth was affiliated with the Spa at Corn Hill. Elizabeth recently moved to the Michael Spitale Salon on Monroe. After my initial visit with Elizabeth, I wrote a review and stated in part; "Elizabeth is a professional who places customer care at the top of the agenda. She is an angel at heart and works methodically to deliver what you pay for and more. It's rare to find someone whose love and knowledge of their profession flows through so freely. Elizabeth is at the top of her class". I also indicated that I could quietly become a regular - of sorts. I visited Elizabeth at the Michael Spitale Salon today. The salon is nice and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Most importantly, Elizabeth has a semi-private station and her "A" game is on full throttle. She's hitting all fairways and greens and making her customers feel like royalty. This is what excellence in service delivery and expertise is all about. Yep, today I was "Elizabethized" again. Huge fan of this salon when I lived in Rochester. Wasn't too cramped, I was always able to get an appointment relatively quickly. Though I always used the same hair stylist (Danny), everyone else I encountered there was friendly and helpful. They do have a portion of the front that does have products but none of the pushiness to purchase as they do in other salons. I have never once had a negative experience there and always left feeling fantastic. I now live in Washington, DC but was still patronizing Danny every time I went to Rochester to visit family. All of my family has since moved from Rochester so I did finally find a local salon to patronize but I would hands-down recommend anyone to go to Michael Spitale, specifically Danny. read more

I am horribly picky regarding my hair, so much, that I was still flying back to Portland, OR to get my hair done! The last time I went back, my hair was colored HORRIBLY! So when I came home (wearing a hat), I was referred to Ali at Michael Spitale and she squeezed me in to "fix my situation" (I looked like Halle Berry in X-Men with the blonde chunks). When I got there, I was greeted immediately, offered coffee/water and didn't have to wait for my appt. Ali did an amazing job getting my hair back into shape. Her highlighting technique was amazing and color selection brought my hair back to life without over-processing it. Then, to top it off, it was very reasonably priced!! An overall amazing experience! I moved here from the NYC area back in June 2011 and was dreading finding a new place for my hair. I tried another salon in Brighton in Nov. and told the stylist EXACTLY how I wanted my highlights done (with 40 volume peroxide) and she proceeded to do what SHE wanted and used 30 volume plus a toner. End result was that yes, it looked "natural"; however, it also looked like nothing was done to my hair. I was extremely unhappy and vowed never to return there. My hair looked "dull" for the entire holiday season. Needless to say, I have been reticent to explore yet another new place again, but I could not plan a visit back to my previous stylist back home, so I visited the Michael Spitale salon prior to making an appointment. I wanted to be assured that whoever worked on my hair would do what I wanted. I was greeted by a lovely receptionist who offered me refreshments while I waited for her to bring the colorist up to meet me. I met with Brittany, told her my story and she assured me that she was a hair colour specialist and completely understood my desire. She then introduced me to her brother, Michael, who would be cutting my hair. He reviewed the style I was seeking and I felt very comfortable with his expertise. (I had been spoiled by using celebrity stylist Max Pinnell in NYC for a number of years) Bottom line is this...I made my appointment for the following week and I HAVE FOUND A NEW HOME FOR MY HAIR!!!!! Brittany made my highlights SPECTACULAR and my hair looks shiny and healthy. Michael is an ARTIST with the scissors and this is hands-down one of the finest cuts I've had in years! He also is a master with the blow dryer and gave me a stunning style that was so beautiful, my boyfriend couldn't stop telling me how great I looked! If I could give you 10 stars, I would. I have been to the Michael Spitale salon and The Laser Spa. Both aspects of businesses focus on cleanliness, friendliness, and happiness. As a customer, I always feel welcomed by Diane and her wonderful staff. More specifically, I have been receiving treatments for under arm and bikini laser hair removal. My results are as I dreamt and better! Although the price may cause a reluctance, it has been financially worth while. If you budget out how often you wax, it quickly pays for itself! As a happy customer, I recommend that anyone who is interested in laser hair removal to meet with Diane and her staff. I bought a groupon to come here for a mani and pedi since it was a good deal. I went there with a friend who also bought the groupon to make our appointments together. We were not very happy when we learned that they would only book out 2 weeks in advance and only on certain days- and the days during the week had to be before I even got out of work leaving us only with a Saturday option. Since our options were so limited we wound up having to wait a month to use our groupons; I was not very happy about this. Their rules about booking out 2 weeks in advance and only on certain dates were not part of the fine print on groupon; If it were, I probably wouldn't have bought it. The girl at the counter also wasn't very friendly when telling us about these rules. One month later, we finally got to have our appointments. Since we bought them together and made our appointments together, we figured we would have our services done together- Wrong. I understand why dates are so limited- they only have 1 pedicure station and 2 mani stations. I got my pedi first and the service was great but, I didn't even get to talk to my friend because we weren't with each other. Afterwards I got my mani which was also great but once again, I didn't even get to talk to my friend. So much for making plans to do stuff together :/ Our services were really great and the ladies took great pride in what they did but, I was not happy with everything else. The salon is small and cramped and we had to walk through people's hair on the floor to get to the back for our services, which is gross. Also, they told us we should have been smart enough to wear our own flip flops for the pedi- it is 30 degrees out! I am not wearing flip flops! Overall, the service was good but, because of the 1 pedi station, walking through hair and their rules on booking appointments I will not come back. read more

My friend Paid way too much for a terrible job. Barely took anything off my hair and completely screwed up the highlights. When I called them to fix it they tried charging 100$ more.... and charged me for a blow dry without telling me. Please go somewhere else, definitely not worth your time or money. I have been going to this salon since May as a client of Dominique and I have nothing but great things to say! For one thing the salon is always kept beautiful and clean, I love the design. Everyone there always makes you feel welcome! It's honestly like my second home lol but I'm one who is very picky about who I let touch my hair and where I go and since my first appointment with Dominique I knew I had found my place. She is amazing at what she does and the only person I trust completely with my hair whether she's coloring or cutting it. I always change my mind on hair colors and she's always very understanding and willing to try whatever I feel that week. I could go on for days of everything I love there but I would definitely recommend anyone and everyone to go experience it for themselves! P.s.
