I am not an advocate for any UV Tanning given the health concerns of UV light but every so often I do crave a little sunlight. I stopped in and purchased a week via coupon in local mailer. I prefer using a stand-up model and did get a little bronze from just a week with the "Darker" level stand up. The have several levels of pricing - Dark, Darker, Darkest and VIP. Usually I spray tan and they have Versa Spa which is great and easy to use. Make sure you prep before spray tanning - shave, exfoliate, no lotions, etc. as it does make a difference in results. The facility is clean and staff has been very friendly and I have always had minimal wait times. They provide you with a towel. Make sure you bring ID/Eye Wear. The parking is a bit tight in the entrance behind the Cinderella Nail and Spa, but I can usually find spots. I would've rated this facility higher (4/5) but prices seem quite high. I generally only go when I see a coupon or deal and then it's really reasonable. read more

Decided to try this place after Summer ended and I was still pale & white due to lack of time in the sun. Paid $54.00 for 7 tanning sessions, to me that is high, but I have not been to a tanning salon since the 90's. Staff are nice enough, parking is plentiful in back, and the beds are nice, and clean. The rooms however are tiny, I have to change standing up, and there is no where to put my changing bag other than the floor. Will finish my 7 sessions (10 minutes every Saturday) and then make a decision on whether or not to continue to next Summer. I know tanning is not the best for you, but I also dislike being so pasty white :( lol read more

I love the girls who work here! Each one of them are so special & they make you feel important. They always have a listening ear! Savanna is such a sweet beautiful girl. I felt so bad they were having a contest who ever sold the most lotions would win a trip to fla. I went in there to get lotion b4 I know about the contest & my debit card would not work! Savanna was down by just a little bit, had my card worked she would of won! She had such a good attitude and was happy for the person that did win. These girls at the pittsford/ Brighton salon are very special , I always look forward to seeing them. I'm not sure, if there head boss realizes what good people they have but I'm telling you, you should check them out. That place does good because of the girls behind the counter. read more

I used to love this tanning salon but since they got rid of the darkest level and added VIP level, it's definitely not my go to anymore.. The VIP beds are Horrible!!! You don't even feel like you get any color after your tanning sessio, not even days later. When they had the darkest lever I only needed to go once it twice a week. The color I got from the darkest lever was amazing the beds were the best I've ever used. It's unfortunate that this went from the best tanning salon to a salon I'll never go to again. read more

I have tanned at max tan since 2006 the beds are good over all the salon is clean. The reviews on here are true- don't go to this place. Staff is rude and clueless. If you have an issue you are out of luck because they won't do anything to fix the problem. The beds are nice and clean, that being said, I was a vip member paying about 60$ a month for 2 years. I noticed after a few months that I wasn't getting really tan at all using the highest level beds they had to offer. I just figured it was because I wasn't going enough but my friend even made a comment about me not looking any tanner. I don't think they changed the bulbs in either of the 2 vip beds in the 2 years I was going there. So I cancelled my membership and got one at planet fitness for 20$ a month, I've gone tanning twice there now and look tanner than I ever did in the 2 years at maximum tan! read more

I am an advocate for skin care and all about protecting the body's largest organ. With that being said, there comes a time in your life when you look in the mirror and just tell yourself, something needs to be done about the ghostly reflection, especially when you have a wedding coming up, it's the middle of June and you are so busy with life you forgot to step out into the sun yet this year. So if this has happened to you, come to Maximum Tan because it's a great salon with awesome people working and although it's VERY expensive, you really get a nice color after only a few sessions. They have tons of different lotions and the girls behind the counter can help you pick the one that's best for you. They do offer a student discount which helps a little bit with the cost. I am definitely considered to be on the paler side and I always choose the darkest bed because I have yet to burn. That may sound counterintuitive to use the strongest bed to prevent a burn but it's true, this level hasn't given me any burns, just good color. Parking is in the back, they stay open late. Just don't go all the time and wear your goggles!!!!! read more

i was directly insulted by the manager as she accused me and my daughter of lying and claimed she "didn't care" about our experience at her store or the fact that I was planning on sharing our experience. The worst part however, is that upon review of our experience and discussions with both the clerk and manager, it is clear that Maximum Tan has a systematic process in place to take advantage and manipulate their customers - the most susceptible, of course are the younger guests. My daughter arrived with a gift card and upon checking in was told by the desk clerk that she "needed" the suntan lotion and it was handed it to her. My daughter assumed because it wasn't marked with a price or the shelf wasn't labeled that it was included in her gift card experience. When the clerk rang up the order, there was an additional $64. on the tab. Again, my daughter was confused and thought perhaps it was a membership fee. Only after she reviewed the receipt did she realize that she was charged $64 for a 8 oz bottle of sunscreen. She asked to return it and was told "all sales are final." Unbelievable that this company would manipulate their customers in this way - not labeling the product with a price, not labeling the products in the store, handing the product to her with the requirement that it be used, and then treating customers with such disrespect as they questioned their experience. Just had a horrible experience at Maximum Tan in Spencerport. Terrible customer service. Bitchy, unfriendly girls at the desk. Are often to busy to say hello or goodbye. Went to go in a standup but it was being worked on. Had to go to a backup that was in the hallway. Only wanted 6 minutes but the girl behind the desk said it's only a 10 minute booth. I gave it a shot and got burnt. I lost 3 days of tanning because of it. Went to use my last day but was denied because I thought when you sign up it was a Tuesday to Tuesday but instead it ended on Monday. I asked if I could go one more day but was again denied. My whole family had been going there since they opened but not anymore. read more

I wouldn't even recommend Maximum Tan to my worst enemy. Their "rooms" are literally the size of a small closet with the beds barely fitting in such that you have about a 1ft x 5ft area to undress/dress. There is obviously no room for a chair and they are way too cheap to install even the cheap wall mirrors you'd buy for your dorm. The towels can be compared only to sandpaper. The service is absolutely terrible and the staff and management are difficult and rude. Don't even think about canceling your overpriced membership because they make it impossible for you to cancel. read more

Extremely disappointed with Maximum Tan. I've been with them for a decent amount of time and back in April they had issues with their credit card machine. I ended up getting charged three times for one product. I got one refund right away, still waiting for the other... Almost 8 months later. They continue to say they'll send me the proof they've tried to refund the last card but I haven't gotten it. Not to mention that when you call the Pittsford location it rarely works. The new manager told me the other day she'd call me back about cancelling my contract and my receipt so I could show my credit card company and still nothing. Not sure what to do at this point... Eat the $30 they owe me and cancel my debit card so they can't charge me? Even though I sent in the cancel form on 10/1 to cancel before November, still afraid I'll get charged considering the history... read more
