I had my first eye appointment with Zone 2 Optometry back on 12/29/25. It had been almost 12 years since I got my first pair of glasses at the SEARS optometry...remember SEARS?! That's how long it had been since I've seen an optometrist! The reason for my recent visit was to finally get a new pair of glasses and thanks to Dr. Eugene Kim, the experience was seamless and positive. The eye exams & vision chart tests were not as scary as I imagined. The most fun part of it all was trying the different frames. Dr. Kim and the receptionist were both very helpful in the process and provided great customer service throughout my visit. I have been coming here for at least 25 years, Dr. Nakano is the best! Professional, friendly and caring, but most of all knowledgeable. My whole family, including extended family is a patient here. I once tried Kaiser optometry, because I did not have VSP insurance at the time, I came right back to Dr. Nakano. Yes, I had to pay out of pocket, but it was worth it. Dr. Nakano, will address any concerns or questions, and will direct you in the right direction. Not too long ago, my husband had an emergency situation that required him to get antibiotic eye drops, Dr. Nakano's office was not open at the time, but he answered the phone. My husband was told to come in to the office anyways, as an emergency visit. He was given a prescription for eye drops, and his inflammation cleared up in less than a week. As always Dr. Nakano helped go through explaining transitional lenses and the anti-reflective aspects that the husband was concerned with and gave us honest opinions about what we should get and not. I also have to give Ricky a huge THANK YOU for walking me through selecting a pair of glasses for myself and even spent the time and extending his lunch break to help me figure out how much I'd be spending if I got glasses this year versus waiting until next year since I already ordered contacts for this year through my insurance. I've visited Dr. Nakano's practice a few times in the last three years for my yearly eye exam. He was recommended to me by an old colleague with whom he has been working for years. Though my first visit was a few years ago I still remember being impressed with how detailed he was in describing the different components of my eyes. He spoke doctor language to me without being too complex. When I left his office that day I had a better understanding of my eyes and vision. I've been to other optometrists before who didn't take the time to explain anything. They checked my eyes, put them through a few different tests, gave me my prescription and sent me on my way. I received the same care and attention during my next two visits. He is also very efficient and respectful of his patients' time. My appointments have always began on time and didn't last more than an hour. He always does a contact lens fitting for me too and helps me to understand how different contact shapes and brands work better or worse for me. Been coming here for a couple years. Dr Milton knows his stuff. Prior to coming here my old optometrist at Target Optical had me on a higher than needed prescription. I kept having headaches. Came here, Dr Milton noticed the prescription was too high and lowered it. Offered me a different brand of contacts and he shared information about special offers for that contact brand which saved me a lot. Very happy and will continue to come here. Been going to this guy for a few years, my mom recommended me to him. He's super nice, knowledgeable, helpful. He cares about his patients and is thorough. We don't live in that town anymore, and we could go to so many other places, but I feel like when you're in an exam with him it's like you're the only patient there, and you're family. He explains alot. I think he's gotten a little snappier over the years, but maybe it's just age. The cool part is there's alot of 80's and 90's music that plays. Staff is always friendly. I have been a patient since 2009, I was so impressed with the services I received I sent my daughter to get a contact lens prescription there as well. My daughter has a hard to fit contact lens prescription and Wal-Mar just wasted my time, took my money, and told me they could not help. Dr. Nakano got her prescription right for her contact lens and glasses. Brought my two children here for eye exams. First he starts explaining to my daughter certain eye structures and conditions that she doesn't have,like she is the adult. He was nice to check if she had a scratch in her eye, but that is kind of his job.Second my son is blind in one eye and I am not confident that his prescription is accurate.I have taken my son (now that he is older) everywhere including Walmart and Costco to have his eyes checked and its no big deal anymore.This Nakano guy got flustered and a little too excited (and not the happy kind)when he was doing the exam.You know when you initially look into a machine to measure an approximate RX for the eyes? And then you have the REAL eye exam where you look through a lens machine and the doc flips the lens back and forth to see which one is best? This man keep walking back and forth across the room to refer to initial results from the first machine every time he flipped a lens, while my son was sitting on the exam chair - it took forever. The whole time he is walking back and forth..he looks stressed is talking to himself under his breathe saying "this prescription is high" Ah-uh...this is not my first rodeo, I have been doing this with my son for ten years and never in my life,, have I seen this.After he is finished I mention that another optometrist a few years back recommended lasik for my son when he turns 18. He very rudely says in front of my son" why would you ruin the only good eye he has left??? First of all I don't know what he was talking about- I thought they would treat the blind eye. But he didn't have to say it like that! read more

I visited Dr, Nakano today and was not satisfied with the service. Prior to my appointment they let me know that my insurance only covers eye exam once every 2 years and would have to pay $60.00 out of pocket, But that they would call and ask if it was fine for me to an exam before my 2 years because I was experiencing constant headaches and and blurred vision. After they got the approval from the insurance, I wasn't told that the Dr. charges for contact fitting, I wasn't informed until after I was finished with my exam and was already wearing the sample contact lenses they give you. I let them know why didn't they inform me of the fee before even putting on the contact lenses! I wasn't aware of this fee because last year I did not have to pay anything out of pocket and if I knew I would have came prepared.. And Milton Nakano is so rude when talking on the phone, he has no manners. Why can't you respectfully say " have your pcp call me" and say "have a nice day then hang up? instead of just hanging up in my ear.. RUDE! never coming back here..
