I first stumbled upon Znozz when I was scrolling through Groupon and saw a deal from Znozz. I had no idea what it was so I did some googling: it was started a few months ago in April, and its concept is to allow tired city goers to relax and refresh themselves in a 'znozz', which is basically what they call a room. (The idea is still a little weird to me.) Online, it stated that each 'znozz' is equipped with a sofa bed, TV, charging stations and a bathroom with a rain shower. My friends and I were curious and we were drawn to the fact that there was free flow of drinks on Tuesday during happy hour (we planned to take advantage of this and go on a Tuesday, or course.) We decided to buy 2 Groupons, making it two hours for the four of us to enjoy the room.
I was pretty disappointed with the experience overall. The location isn't hard to find, but the entrance of the building is kind of in an alley. The place itself is tiny and the room was MUCH smaller than I thought - the sofa bed was more so, well, just a sofa. There was only one member of staff there and he didn't even mention the happy hour special until I asked him, to which he responded by bringing in a bottle of some Japanese sake/wine (wasn't sure; all Japanese wording) and asked if this was okay. We asked if they had wine, and he brought in a bottle of white wine and we agreed to it. We didn't really look at the label - none of us are experts and we were too hot and sweaty to care. He said he would chill it for us now and bring it in for us later. This didn't make sense to me: shouldn't all their white wine bottles already be chilled? I asked if they had ice, and he said no. To me, it kind of sounded like we were their first customer - the staff didn't seem prepared at all and was kind of just winging the job. I don't blame him though - I blame the management of the place and the lack of thorough job training. When he poured us the wine, it was only half-chilled but we didn't really care anymore. I'm no expert, but the wine tasted extremely cheap and wasn't nice to drink at all.
I guess the positives of Znozz are that there is a snack bar outside with packets of chips and chocolate that are free for you to take and eat, and there are board games as well (though we didn't play them). The TV in the room was connected to a system that's sort of like the Apple TV, which we did manage to search for movies and watch on. If you're looking for a place to be able to quietly do your own thing privately, like finish up some work/studying or get ready for a fancy event, Znozz is worth checking out, but if you're thinking of going there just to chill with some friends like we did, then skip it. read more
