So, my eleven year old MacBook and six year old Galaxy Prime phone broke down on the same day. I decided to upgrade both and get an iPhone so that my laptop and phone could communicate. Z assisted me himself, I told him that I wanted a long lasting, future proof laptop. He showed me one that he thought was a good match and I noted that it was slightly less expensive than the other identical laptops and I inquired about this, to which Z responded: "... Oh, there's no difference in the laptops, I just acquired that one more cheaply than the others so that is why it isn't as expensive ..." Once we got that sorted, I told him that I also needed an iPhone to go along with the laptop and to this, Z said: "... You're with Cricket, right? They're selling brand new iPhone 8's at a competitive price to my own deals; you should buy the phone straight from Cricket rather than me, it's a better deal ..." THEN! As if that wasn't enough, the next day I went to pick up my laptop since they had transferred all my info from the broken laptop to the new one. While I was there, I went ahead and asked them to apply a screen protector to my new iPhone and did so. A few hours later, I noticed that the protector had a weird, aesthetically unpleasing outline. I went back TEN MINUTES before they closed and pointed this out to which they admitted they tried a few protectors and could not get rid of the outline. They took the phone back and tried a few more protectors. When this proved unsuccessful, they told me they had no idea why it was happening and they can't do anything about it and then they refunded me the service and protector costs WHILE letting me keep the protector. Class act. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, it's been a week or two since my experience with Z. Computer still works fine and everything. When I bought my new computer, I brought in my old, broken one. Z offered to take care of my old computer for me since all the info was taken off of it and I no longer had a function for it. Of course, I gave it to him freely and expected nothing more from it. Turns out that Z refurbished it and sold it. How do I know this? Because, Z drove to my father's store and gave him some money, saying, "I was able to sell your son's computer and I made a little money on it so I thought he deserves to make a little money too. Amazing customer service!! I came here for a second opinion after leaving Simply Mac around the corner and I'm very glad that I did! Like I said, I just came in so I did not have an appointment. My MacBook had the blinking file folder and Simply Mac told me my hard drive was done. Here at ZMac, he took his time to do a full and thorough diagnostic and found that my hard drive was working perfectly, it was the logic board that was not reading it. Here I was thinking I had lost all of my data and files and on the verge of ordering an entire new hard drive because someone else didn't take the time to be through. He let me know that he would have to order the part to replace it, but he would still have his technician look at it to see if my current one could just be mended. Unfortunately, I was only in town for one more day for business so I did not have the time for him to order the part, but I wish I could. He really went out of his way to go over all of my options, get to the root of the problem, and try to fix my computer under my strict time demands. His prices are also extremely reasonable...like almost half of what the Apple store charges. The technician was not able to fix my current logic board, but I appreciate them even trying on such short notice. If you are ever in the Nashville area and need tech services, I highly recommend ZMac! read more

I will never go to the Apple store for my problems again. ZMAC all the way. Highest of recommendations. I spilled coffee on my Mac Book Pro with Retina Display. Computers are not supposed to recover from that. Everybody knows that. That's how they destroy computers in the movies. I went to the Apple store and they practically laughed at me and made a big joke out of my situation. That and their prognosis was dire. Get this -- according to the genius I spoke to at Apple, "there was absolutely nothing they could do. There was a greater chance of me winning lottery than getting my computer to recover. Except I could pay $1,200 to get my computer fixed. And my files wouldn't be there" Wait! So Where did $1,200 come from? I thought there was absolutely nothing you can do. Oh, so there is. You're just hustling me like an ass hole. That's when I left the Apple store and went to Zmac and met Terek. He looked at the computer and smirked like the genius he is. His calm demeanor was in stark contrast to my nervous energy. Somehow he made me trust that he could take care of it. He did. And I have ALL my files. My whole damn life is saved for $185 (it turns out all my computer needed was a new keyboard.) Terek, you're a genius. Thank you so much. read more

While in the middle of selling my home and purchasing a new home, my IMac would absolutely not boot up. Consequenty 3 weeks early my son's IMac died also. I went to a repair shop that told me it would be at least 2 weeks to look at my computer and possibly a month to fix it. He gave me 2 referrals and Zmac was the first number written down so I called him. Z answered the phone himself and told me to come in and bring both computers. When I arrived, Z put my computer on the counter in front of me and proceeded to diagnose the problem. Long story short, he found the problem on both computers, I requested he upgrade my hard drives on both computers and to max out the memory. He told me that by putting in solid state hard drives that my computers would run faster. That was an understatement. Z called me about 3 1/2 hours later with both computers repaired, upgraded and all data recovered an transferred. All of this for more than 85% less than having to replace my computers. Z, the man apparently cares about his customers and he certainly is far beyond competent in Mac troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair. In my opinion Z is a wi"Z"ard. This is my first Yelp review I've ever written. I absolutely had to write this review because I was SO encouraged by the help I received from Z Mac. I've also never been to any phone/Mac repair place other than the Apple store. "No Service" was on the upper left hand corner of my iPhone 6s for days. My phone had basically become unusable. I took it to the Cool Springs Apple store and was told my only option was to buy another phone. They barely did anything so I had a hard time understanding how they were so quick to say that. I found Z Mac as it has outstanding reviews (and now I know why!). Both the person I spoke with on the phone and the person I spoke with at the shop seemed genuine and honest. The guy at the shop recommended before anything else to try testing my SIM card. That was the issue! I was able to pay $0 for this solution because I went to my carrier and they gave me a new one which Z Mac told me to do. That means Z Mac saved me hundreds of dollars I was about to spend due to Apple's recommendation. I felt elated when their solution got my phone working again! Thank you, Z Mac! Unfortunately I had a bad experience with zmac with an iPhone X screen replacement. There are 4 key problems with the replacement screen that is nowhere near factory quality. 1. The 3D Touch (force touch) does not function correctly. This is terribly annoying for things like turning on your flashlight or camera from home screen. 2. Related to the screen touch, there is often glitches in the touchscreen that generate bizarrely spelled words when typing. 3. There is a bad hot spot on the screen (see first image). 4. There is bad color shift as you move the phone different angles (see second image). For anyone that creates photos or videos, this is terrible. And it's also something that doesn't happen with factory iPhone screens. I am not giving them one star because they attempted to remedy the situation with a second screen, which was nice of them. But unfortunately, there are still all of the problems that were present the first time. For the relatively high price of the screen replacement, it should be close to factory quality - this screen is far from it. read more

So I met with two representatives of Zmac. Both were professional & courteous. Tarek said he personally worked on my 2010 Apple MacBook Pro (the harddrive had crashed). The hard drive was too far gone, 8 years is a very long time for a mechanical harddrive (not solid state as today). For under $300, tax and labor included I received a new harddrive, new operating system and the machine (less the data) was good as new. They even installed some missing pads and screws on the bottom of the machine at no additional charge. I went First to Apple (Cool Springs, Galleria mall) they said my hardware was "too vintage" for them to work on. Second I went to Simply Mac, again they could not repair my machine but they recommended I go see Zmac! Zmac has earned all my repair and service business from now on. Excellent, friendly service and very honest. I originally took my computer in after spilling a drink on it. They replaced the keyboard and the dc board. Last week (about a month after the initial repairs) my screen stopped working, and I took it back to them to get it fixed. They gave me several different options at different price points, which allowed me to make the decision that made the most financial sense. I decided to trade for another of the same model, and they transferred my hard drive so I lost nothing from my old computer. I was very impressed with the fact that even though what went wrong on my computer the second time had nothing to do with their initial repairs, they were not going to charge me any labor fees for the repairs. All I had to do was purchase the part, which I didn't end up doing, but still. They didn't charge me to transfer the hard drive either. All in all - great experience. read more

I used to go straight to the Apple Store for everything, and had an experience through which I realized I'd been shamelessly lied to at the Genius Bar. Turns out they do that a lot. After going to Zmac once, I've never gone back to Apple! The owner and employees here are very kind and seem truly dedicated to helping with your issues rather than shelling you out for as much money as possible. They are very knowledgeable and always offer the most practical, lightweight solutions to my problems. They worked on my Macbook Pro over a holiday weekend and had a keyboard replacement (2+ hour repair involving ~200 screws) plus other tweaks done in 2 days. The price of this quality repair was easily 1/3 of Apple's quote, and they took half the time as well. Apple doesn't need your money. Support an excellent local business and head to Zmac. read more

Really glad to have found ZMac. For many years I used MacAuthority for repair work and I never had a reason to look around elsewhere, but now that they've become SimplyMac (and have some agreement with Apple), they seem to only want to push new products rather than repair existing ones. SimplyMac told me that my 2012 MacBook Air was "too old" for them to service and that if I went somewhere else it would cost $400-$700 to repair the touchpad on an otherwise healthy and functional laptop. They advised me to trash the laptop and buy a new or refurbished one from them. ZMac put in a new touchpad for $125 and now my MacBook Air is as good as new. It's nice to find a place that sees the value of repairing things rather than encouraging people to add to the growing heap of technology trash we continue to create. read more

My experience at ZMAC was perfect. The owner "Z" greated me as I walked in. The place has the feel of a business that has been operating for a long, long time. Z was easy to talk to. I explained the issues with my IMAC. He offered multiple fixes. I was quickly on my way home. Thirty minutes later he had run a diagnostic and we were talking about the best and most economical fix. Z speaks very clearly and directly, much like a teacher. We agreed on what to do and the cost. Twenty four hours later I had my MAC back. It screams!!!! Thank you "Z". Zee is outstanding. I am in IT and actually manage Data Centers for a Fortune 20 Company. I have worked inside routers and servers for many years. I knew my macbook repair would be tedious but after trying to get a cable back on the logic board for an hour I decided to give up before I broke the pins on the cable or the logic board. Zee knew a piece of rubber was in the way to reconnect the cable (not shown in macbook repair video posted) and within minutes had the cable reconnected to the board and my computer tested to make sure I did no damage during my attempt. I left the computer with him to finish the repair and his flat rate & very reasonable parts price was the way to go. He is a very outstanding individual that I will be using going forward for all of my apple products. read more

I'm not taking my Apple products anywhere else but to ZMac. I brought my MacBook Pro to them for service. It wouldn't boot up and I had files I needed for upcoming deadlines. I was hoping to get it back at a reasonable time. I'm used to hearing 5-10 days. Tariq was able to access my hard drive and give me the files I needed while waiting. He answered all my questions, then told me he'd either get it to me later that day (I got there as soon as they opened) or the next morning. I couldn't believe it!! Along with getting a newer, faster hard drive, I even had my cracked screen replaced too. All of that for $260 (which includes the tax and labor fee). I'll tell all my friends about ZMac and their excellent customer service, quick turnaround time, and reasonable prices. read more

After a liquid accident the two USB ports on my 2012 MacBook Pro stopped working. I was in the middle of a design project and really could not be without my Mac for a week. I believed I faced an expensive repair with a rush fee or a new computer. The gentleman at ZMac could have easily sold me those things, but instead he patiently asked me questions about how I used my computer and suggested quick and less expensive workarounds to the USB ports such as a Bluetooth mouse and Firewire drive. Ultimately he was able to clean the Mac's existing logic board with alcohol and called me about an hour after dropping the machine off to say the USB ports were fixed. Simply fantastic! I will never again go anywhere else for Mac and/or iPhone repair. Bravo!!! read more

I had a similar experience to Laura - very nice and friendly however after a few challenges with my Mac I did alittle more research on the business as I just moved to Nashville. The owner is personally Apple certified but his business is not Apple Certified. (See Apple's website for certified repair stores) I noticed the Apple logo on his website (hence why I came here) someone pointed out to me it does not have the Apple logo trademark which is a wee bit deceiving. Just know ... if you're bringing your Mac or iPhone here - they are buying parts from the same suppliers as the other 3rd party repair shops. They are OEM spec parts not Apple original. read more

I will always take any of my Apple products here! The man at the shop, I assume is the owner, is the friendliest and most helpful person ever! The repair to my MacBook Air was very quick and inexpensive. The owner was even able to make the repairs cheaper than he originally quoted because he found the part that he needed less than he said. I really appreciate him trying to find the least expensive part that was still brand new and great quality. I walked out of there knowing that I had gone into the right shop. I felt valued and I trusted I was getting the best service possible. You should seriously stop looking and go into ZMac! read more

I have been taking all my Mac sales, service and repair needs to Zmac for some time now. I have bought two laptops and an iPad from them, along with having numerous service jobs done. They are easily the best place in Nashville. Their work is fast, thorough, and so much more affordable than any other provider in town. They even called me to do some follow up a couple of days after a particularly difficult hard drive replacement and file recovery, just to make sure that things were running smoothly for me.
