After success elsewhere ordering fries and a dessert as my meal, I thought I'd try it again at Zizzi, as their vegetarian options were more limited (or at least limited to things I didn't want to eat). A bad choice. Or rather, an uncalculated one. The black forest fondant was good - for the first few bites. After that, my palate was completely ruined by the overwhelming chocolate, and I struggled to continue eating. I was disappointed, as well, to be served vanilla ice cream instead of raspberry ripple. That was one of the main reasons I'd ordered the dessert. However, the vanilla ice cream was helpful for balancing out the overly rich chocolate fondant. I wish I could say the same about the sweet potato fries. They were completely unseasoned. I'm starting to think this is a British thing, but I'm unused to asking for salt. I ate the fries as they were, but the whole meal would have been improved by just a few grains of salt! I would definitely return to Zizzi - but next time I'll order differently. read more

Not the best experience in the world. Usually this place has better service and tasty food. It started off terribly wrong with only one waiter outside for 5 tables. 3 tables returned their food as it was either cold or dry. We ordered the calamari that was very tender but not seasoned at all. The garlic Aioli sauce was good but very thick and not enough for the huge portion. We got our second starter 55 minutes after sitting down. It was worth the wait for the meatballs. Very tasty and the mozzarella was melted perfectly. As I still sit here 1:24 minutes after arrival, we still haven't gotten our food. Update to follow. 1:43 minutes my buddy finally gets his pasta. I ordered a calzone mind you and it still hasn't come. 5 tables have sat, eaten and left since we ordered. We were wandering around Marble Arch, window shopping and looking for a place for dinner. Not a whole lotta options and we're starting to give up, when we spotted a Zizzi. We hadn't heard of this chain before but it was packed inside on a Thursday evening so we decided to try. No reservation needed and only had a few minutes to wait before we secured a table downstairs. Lots of families and kids around and the kids menu had a short but sweet menu. (Daughter had the margarita pizza, son had pepperoni pizza). I had the Carnoso pizza (milky, cheesy with prosciutto and truffle oil - so huge and relish! Great pick!) my husband had the GF pizza (they can do any from the classic menu) and was happy! We shared a bottle of prosecco and had a great evening! Among the downtown London eateries, and there are tons of them, we decided to try Zizzi. There is inside and sidewalk seating there and it is a pretty crowded place. This is mostly due to the fact that it is in the corner of a really old building and London is just crowded, No worries though. The food was satisfactory but not WOW! The service was fantastic and we had little ones with us who were definitely fawned over by the nice staff there. I really liked the food and atmosphere and I recommend Zizzi highly! read more

Oh London, you and your crazy weather! After a nice down pour on our adventurous trip to London we came across this restaurant. Hungry, we said..."Italian in England? Sure why not!" I had the lasagna the fiance had cheese raviolis. Both were delicious! They were pretty big servings also! We both had waters, because at the time we didn't do wine, but they seemed to have a nice wine selection - thinking back nothing would of been more divine than some wine on that cold, wet day. THE SERVER SPOKE SPANISH! For two people from Miami this was a pleasant surprise for us. We are used to EVERYONE speaking Spanish, so when we saw her English was a bit weak we were surprised and asked her if she spoke Spanish. She seemed thrilled to speak to us in Spanish as well. On our weekend getaway to London, I kept seeing Zizzi pop up on my vegan restaurant finder - Happy Cow - and wanted to try it. Finally, one rainy night we were rushing over to some other restaurant and happened to run into Zizzi. We arrived about 30 minutes before closing so we sheepishly walked in to inquire if it was too late. Wow, we were bowled over at the outstanding niceness of the staff. They were so welcoming and totally accommodating. The five star rating could be for customer service alone but the food was ALSO AMAZING! They did a nice on-menu vegan pasta dish for me that has me craving more. I highly recommend Zizzi and trust that we will return! read more

We came into the empty restaurant and had to ask other waiters to get our waiter so we could finally order after waiting 20 minutes after arriving. Mind you it was an empty restaurant. We then waited 40 minutes to get our food. Nobody came to update us on the wait. Meanwhile people arriving after us were getting served, ate, and left. The food was quite average. There were many gluten free options, which was nice but my friend who ate the normal food was not very impressed either. There are so many other places in the area. Find something else. read more

This is a nice little spot to go to when most of the shops are closing near Oxford Street. It's a stones through away from Selfridges and does some pretty descent stuff. The pasta dishes probably better then the pizza. My only criticism is perhaps the need to put a bit more quantity. Pizza dishes equally as good. They should have more vegetarian options though. I would of like sun dried tomatoes or olives. Overall the service and foods great so would recommend. Prices are descent. Must try the raspberry and mint cooler. read more

After a long day of working, I finally realized that it was 9pm and I should eat. Seeing this place earlier in the day, I headed over to see if they were open. Fortunately, they stay open till 11pm on most nights, so I was in luck. Never one to shyly ask for a table of 1, I was seated and began to browse the menu. Their menu has more than enough choices and variety without being a crowded menu. I started with the dough sticks, which were not the giant bread sticks I expected, but good anyway. For my entree, I tried the newly added Spaghetti Polpette, which was equally exciting to order as it was to eat. I paired it with their Rioja, but was not fully impressed with the wine. I was hoping for something with a bit more texture to it. One of my favorite things here, besides the very friendly staff, was the decor. It was not in your face, trying to be super stereotypical Italian. It definitely gave off the classier, simple is better approach. Very well fit for this place. read more

This was the first time I'd been to a zizzi. In my mind I expected that this would just be another standard chain Italian. I was pleasantly surprised both by the menu which had some interesting touches and by the service which was relaxed and efficient. The garlic bread was a little tasteless, however the linguini gamberai was delicious. The lobster sauce was yum yum yum and the affogato made an excellent end to the night. I actually visited the deli next to the restaurant, known as Zizzi Cafe. I think this is the take away mentioned previously. Great antipasta and delicious house wine. I've always been a Zizzis fan since my uni days, but this branch just can't seem to get it right. I've been twice, and both times we sat downstairs in a huge underground room with bright lights and no atmosphere. The service is bad. I'm not sure if it's because of a lack of staff, or whether they are just really slow, but we ordered our wine the other night and could see it there on the bar for at least 15 minutes before anyone brought it to our table - we were tempted to go and grab it ourselves. When we finally tracked someone down to take our order and our food came, it was nice, nothing to write home or complain about, and prices are the usual mid-range pizza joint prices. During the meal we could smell cigarette smoke, as if someone was smoking out the back - when we told the manager about it later he said it was the wind blowing it in from the street - not sure how that could happen as we were right downstairs And when we came to pay, the same manager tried to overcharge us! If they improve the service in this place perhaps it'll match up to some of its other locations, but till then not a place to seek out really. read more

We went here right before we went to see Wicked. The food was AMAZING. I had the Sea Bass with their house made salsa verde. It was honestly the best salsa verde I have ever had!! It tasted like it had some pesto in it, which I loved. Wasn't too keen on the salad, but I cannot rave enough about that fish! Beautifully plated, which always helps the appetite. Highly recommend! We ended up here by accident - looking around for dinner near Marble Arch on a Saturday night. My wife and I have picky 7-year old twins which make finding a restaurant extremely difficult. The restaurant seemed busy, but it has a large downstairs area with several more tables. We waited less than 5 minutes, even though it was 8pm on a Saturday. It's a casual place with a cool decor and atmosphere. The service was very good all night. Our waiter was actually from Italy. He made good suggestions, was attentive, and our order was exactly right. There are several wine choices, and a large menu to choose from. We started with an appetizer sampler consisting of steak, meatballs, and caprese - all very good. My wife had meat ravioli and thought it was good. I had a diavolo pizza which was good and spicy - very nice. We ordered pasta for the kids, with butter vs. sauce - it wasn't on the menu, but it was no problem. The desserts looked great, but we were too full to order any. All in all, very nice place for dinner. The food and service were very good, and the prices reasonable. We went from roaming around reading menus to very satisfied in an hour. read more

Located behind Oxford Street, practically at the back of Selfridges and Debenhams is this very large branch of the popular restaurant chain. Unfortunately I've found the staff to often be quite abrupt and impolite, plus they aren't helpful when it comes to making special requests for your food (i.e. asking for no mushrooms in a dish, I'm told no can do, when other Zizzis are more considerate). In fact, once my friend was brought her food cold. She highlighted this and it was warmed up and we were given free coffee, but this wasn't very professional. Quite sloppy, actually. Nonetheless, I love the brushetta genovese and really recommend it, there's nothing like the lovely chicken in pesto on lightly toasted bread. Also the chicken rissotto is nice, and the lasagne's not too bad either. Sure, c.£9 for a dish can be a burden on your wallet, but if you dine here on a day when special offers such as 2for1 meals is on, it really is a hell of a bargain. read more

The service was absolutely horrendous I have never experienced such a rude staff in my life. I was trying to be accommodating i gave several chances and they were absolutely disrespectful. I was offended by both the staff and manager several times. I was with a group of 11 people and i can assure you i will NEVER come back to this establishment again and neither will any of the rest or our families. One of the worst restaurants I have been to. I ordered risotto, which arrived utterly bland. After I asked the waitress how its prepared, she explained that the rice and the stock are made separately and they don't meet until 5 minutes befor3e it lands on the plate. That's all I needed to know not to order it again. Instead of that I had chicken and mushroom penne. Also was quite bad. Chicken was dry , like it was fried on the side and thrown in at last minute to the dish, creamy sauce took over the mushrooms so you cant call it mushroom sauce, really.... My boyfriend also didn't enjoy his carbonara but after I changed my dish, he felt its too much hassle to bother with his. We didn't even eat half the portions, paid, left and will never go back. read more
