was kinda nice out for early February so I was out walking around taking in the sights around the hotel before calling it a night. saw Zip's sign down the road a bit and started feeling nostalgic so I went in for a closer look and found the 80's alive and well... the menu board is full of fun names for burgery variants and some normaller offerings like fish, chicken, and shrimps at budget friendly price points. so other than everything, what pairs well with cheddar tots? a simple but dignified hot dog? a special burger? both? yeah... and can you put a grilled pineapple ring on top of it? back to the hotel with my dinner I set up on the balcony as evening faded into night. no surprise that tots with ranch is a winner but it turns out that pineapple retains too much moisture for anything but pizza (and even then it still needs pressed first) but the flavors work well together. so yeah, if you think you might want to try something different try Zip's. if the constituent parts are available they might be willing to put it together... more likely if you ask nice... if you're looking for more predictable goodness try something from the menu; there's enough variety up there to satisfy the creative streak in most eveyone. enjoy! read more

It's a value takeout place that needs a deep clean. My grandson got sick after eating here.

Saw this place and wanted to check it out. Asked around and heard it was pretty good. Soon as you drive up there place looks like a burger spot. Walk inside and there's plenty of seating. Descent amount of people inside and drive thru had a lot of people in it. I ended up buying Belly Buster Burger, fries a strawberry shake. Tried a Cheese Tot and it was ok. Belly Buster was ok....has ham, bacon, and were fries were fries. Strawberry shake was descent. One thing I will say is....they don't give you a lot of meat for the price. The burger was small and you get a small slice of ham. Had to put this in here for the people who's never been. If you're in the area go check it out. read more

I loved zips. First let down, okay, try again. Second let down, won't be going back because this must be a new standard. Burgers are so small, "The Boss" and "Double Papa Joe" looked like value menu burgers. Had a business trip to Richland and this is guilty pleasure place I hit up after the 3.5 hour drive. The onion rings were ok. Everything was at the perfect temp. When you sit in the restaurant you hear the drive thru and it can be a bit distracting. The restaurant is clean and the counter workers are helpful. The drive thru is a bit of a wait because most folks choose this option. They get the order right and are efficient. Grew up with Zip's and once leaving the Tri-Cities whenever I come back Zip's is a must stop, if anything for the nostalgia and memories. The burgers this time around weren't anything to write home about, the fries were crispy, and love the fry sauce. But, like most every business in this economy the prices to me are out of sight. 2 hamburger combinations totaled $35.28 or $17.64 individually for a hamburger, fry, and drink lunch. Next time I visit the Tri-cities I'll just drive by and look at Zip's and reflect about cruising the place in my wasted and foolish youth, much cheaper. read more

Food is great. We generally do the drive up window, but have eaten inside. I've been around long enough to remember the old building. There wasn't a place to sit before. Just a walk up to window. The food is still as awesome as it always has been. It's a one of a kind fast food. I have seen the drive thru line wrapped around out of their parking lot. But they are fast at the window. I would like the staff to be more on the happier side. But they get the job done, by staying organized I would imagine. Keep up the good work. They changed the fish!!! :-(.... Zips was always my go-to place for GREAT fried fish. This looks like mrs. Paul's from the freeZer section. They no longer make fresh ingredient milkshakes either :-/ it's all the syrup flavored stuff. Super disappointed. Having a Nancy Kerrigan "WHYYYYYY?!?!" moment on this $8 container of meh food. I love burger joints like this! Stopped by to see what was what. The menu is diverse with good options. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean. Got the Hawaiian Joe, standard burger with ham, pineapple and teriyaki, and the Doggoner, a cheeseburger with a hot dog added. Both were good, hot and fresh. And prices were quite reasonable. This food establishment was filthy with torn up seats. But the seats were taped up with yellow duct tape. Greasy dust on the ventilation. The napkins were sticking to the filthy table. The food was slung across the counter in a bag. I did not ask for a "to go" meal. I had to get trays and napkins etc. I asked the young gal who served us the food what her name was. "i am not comfortable giving my name"- quite unprofessional - no name tags either. My wife and i could not eat but a few bites because it was so filthy inside. OK I have only tried one item - the burger. . It left me pleasantly surprised. First bite and it had that ketchupy sweetness (reminiscent of Dick's burger for you Seatyle fans) BUT That sweetness is cut through with a jolt of pickle juice. The best things to get here are the hot turkey sandwiches and a few burgers. Everything else is "eh" . The fish is terrible, I'll post pics. The fish is thin and rubbery with a mushy batter. The fries are basic. Shakes are good. Got an order of mushrooms and those too were .."eh". I'd say to pass on this place if you're into quality fast food, the costs are not worth it. Well these are the same people that told me when I moved here that it doesn't really snow much in the Tri-Cities... And we see how that has turned out lately! Zips is an excellent local burger chain. After debating the matter with friends, we believe they can keep up with the best of burgers throughout the country. On my most recent trip here (I go once every few years since I do not live in eastern Washington anymore), I had a double bacon burger and fries. The burger is excellent: juicy and flavorful. Many people go for the "Papa Joe," a burger with ham. I say skip the Papa Joe and go with a bacon burger. Zips puts some of the crispiest bacon around on their burgers, so I'd always recommend that. The fries are good and the tartar sauce is different in a good way. As for the previous posts, I have never been sick after Zips. The place is always clean enough and I have never had trouble getting decent service. The most important thing at a burger place is the burger, and that's why Zips stands out. read more

Terrible food, way overpriced; I'll never eat there again! The Hawaiian Joe burger was terrible - barely any meat, lousy "teriyaki" sauce, tasteless bun - and the fries were soggy and bland. Even the milkshake was sub-par. My friend didn't complain about his burger or the fries, but he'll eat anything. He ordered the "Gut Buster," and given the ambitious name and exorbitant price, the actual burger was underwhelming in every way; it was a burger with bacon, exactly the same size and weight as mine, which was nothing to write home about in the first place. This is the absolute worst burger joint I have ever been through. The service was rude, the over cooked poor quality burger tasted like cardboard, the fry sauce was more ketchup than sauce and the lettuce on the burger had slightly browned tinged edges. And the cost OMG - when did a less than McDonalds quality burger with fries and a lemonade begin to cost over $12.00 - at least with McDonald's you get a whole meal for $6.00 - and you know the drink fountain has been cleaned and sterilized. This home town burger joint "status" is not worth your time or money - although if you prefer to have your stomach rolling around like the bowels of small recreational vessel on the Pudget Sound in February then the Richland Zips Burgers is for you. I would leave ZERO or negative stars if possible but the Yelp app doesn't accept no stars. If you decide to brave Zips anyway make sure you anti nausea medicine just to view the soda fountain, as the cleanliness has some serious room for improvement! read more
