I returned to pick up my clothes from the cleaners in Dumfries yesterday. My sweater set was still dirty only this time the food was pressed into my sweater. On the positive side, I was pleasantly surprised that the front desk person greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. She saw that I didn't have my ticket and immediately asked me for my phone number to look me up to find my garments. I explained to her the situation I had when I last came to the Dumfries zips cleaners. I pointed out to her that my sweater was still dirty and now the color is faded into areas where apparently they must have put some chemical on there to try to get the stain out. She offered to have it cleaned again but at that point I was just pretty much fed up and did not want to return. I told her I just wanted my money back for the sweater and I just didn't want to come back anymore. She went to go get the manager who was very nice, apologetic and professional. The manager explain to me what I should do in the future. She refunded my money and invited me to come back again. She did her best to correct the situation. The part of this entire situation that really turned me off, was the fact that they put the plastic over my clothes, put tags on them, ready to give them back to me, knowing that they had not cleaned them. That says a lot for work ethics and integrity. The worst person that I did not like dealing with was a person by the name of sylvia. I might consider going back again just as long as I don't have to deal with that fast talking Sylvia, who cut me off. read more

Very disappointed. Let me start by saying my clothes were cleaned. My issue is with the fact that they weren't ironed. I specifically asked for all of my shirts to be dry cleaned, and ironed with heavy starch. Not only weren't they ironed, they actually came back more wrinkled than when I dropped them off. Needless to say, I spent the rest of the night ironing my own clothes. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I have been here several times and not impressed. They do not get the clothes clean after spending time to mark the spots. Recently, I have notice that my jacket sleeves and pants are shrinking and I am over the age of growing. I contacted the store to speak to the Manager, but she never called me back. I know they charge $2.29, but they do not give them a right to shrink my clothes. I would not recommend this place and I refused to take any of my clothes there. This place keeps messing up my garments (no creases & they put creases). Took two comforters there on a special deal & when i got them back, they stunk for days!!! I had to clean them again to get ride of the smell. One time they even gave me someone elses dry clean & when I told the employee these aren't mine, his reply was "are you sure?" Many of the employees they hire are just rude & don't really care about doing a descent job. This place has gotten way worst since they first opened up. The lady manager seemed to be the only friendly person there who actually tries. Many of the staffs there just do the bare minimum & they don't even say hi or a mere thank you. The lady manager had to tell one of her employee to go help a customer instead of just standing around.. read more

I've used Zips many times and would consider it again in a pinch. However, I would be careful with more delicate items. I had a bad experience with a formal gown where it seems that they pressed it and left a melted mark in the fabric. Overall, they do a satisfactory job and it is nice to know it is ready next day no matter how many things you take in. The price is great but i suppose you get what you pay for. If they were in a more convenient location to me I would probably use them more frequently for the simple jobs while taking more delicate items elsewhere. read more

This is the absolute worse Zips that I have ever been to. No matter how many times I have dropped off clothes, I am always missing two pieces or someone else's cleaning is mixed with mine. It's like the management doesn't even care that the staff is incompetent. If i could give it half a star i would. I drive out of my way and go to the zips on Liberia. read more

This place gave my brand new article of clothing away to another customer!!! I opened the package there, and it was only to be pressed. I dropped my items off, early in the morning, and when I returned about 4pm on the same day. I was told everything was done except that one piece of clothing. Because of my busy work schedule it's difficult for me to get by there during the week. When I arrived on Sat. Morning, (the day I actually need the clothing) for my son's HoCo, and was pressed for time, I was then told, it wasn't there, and they had given it to another customer. The manager also stated, that the mistake was known, when. I returned on that day to pick up my dry cleaning. After going back and forth for a little bit, she did give me the money for the shirt, HOWEVER I purchased the shirt at Macy's in Fredericksburg VA, for those of you who know this area, and about the traffic in this area (the reason I shop and prepare early) Know it's not as simple as running to the mall and getting another shirt, When I left the cleaners I got straight on the road to go get another shirt. Never the less, I did not receive any extra money for my gas to go all the way back to Fredericksburg nor money for my time. After fighting through traffic, and trying to find the same shirt, then fighting our way back to Dumfries, putting us 2 .5 hours behind what was suppose to be an easy day, the cleaners called my husband stating the shirt was there??? This posted me off even more: Why wasn't a call made to the other customer earlier in the week? Why didn't I receive a call, stating the shirt was missing? Although my husband paid back the amount I received for the shirt, why wasn't I compensated for my gas to drive to and from Fredericksburg, and my time? The customer service I received attempting to get this rectified was HORRIBLE, and there was no since of compassion for what was going on, and it was there mistake!!! The lady who made the mistake was the first person, I spoke to when I walked in that morning, and from there the coward hid in the back... If I could give this place a (NEGATIVE) -10 I would!!! This business has twice now lost items of mine and on several occasions not had my items done by the expected time. I am including an email from their corporate office which I felt was both rude and insulting. If I wanted a lecture I would have gone to class, what I was looking for was resolution on having my item either returned or replaced. ************* Mr. Rusnak My comment might have been adversarial, but your response as if to educate or scold me as a parent would - was unneeded and insulting. I have been very understanding in the past with my two piece uniform being lost. Then, having said staff at this store take over two weeks to locate and return it. Another two times when items were not ready by the specified times and finally the second time an item of mine was lost by the same store. So while my comments seem adversarial to you, to me they are justified. I have had friends who have had items that they brought in to be cleaned were returned with stains that weren't there prior to being left In your companies hands. Maybe your company could focus on hiring qualified employees who neither lose nor ruin the clothes your customers have brought there to have cleaned. But either way, if I had any doubt about whether I would give your company another chance at my business...you successfully made my decision so much easier. They do a very good job. They get my dry cleaning done the next day for a reasonable price and they're polite.

My first visit and my LAST !! my 3 mens shirts came out acceptably, not as nicely done as my regular cleaners BUT.... they cant seem to find my black work pants or the black cotton shirt that belongs to my wife. Seems the tickets got separated during processing and actually did not show all items on the printed receipt but ONLY in the computerized key tag system. Also 2 days over the 5pm delivery deadline. You don't even get what you paid for at Zips Cleaners....clean and undamaged clothes! They ruined two of my dry cleaning pieces and refused to take responsibility. The customer service is terrible and it is not worth the risk you take with your dry cleaning. read more

This place will mess up your clothes. I have pants I spent $200 on that are now faded with spots on them. I got shirts missing buttons and shirts that never got cleaned just pressed. I would rather drive across town to another or spend more at a real cleaners than to deal with them I can't believe I kept going there because they were cheap. In the end they have cost me allot more. And I want to thank the young lady I seen when I went in at 9:04 am to drop my clothes off. She told me I can't have my clothes cleaned by 5:00 pm because in 4 min late. That was the straw that broke the camels back!!! It was the reality check I needed to leave that store alone. My shirts come out pretty good, so no complaint there. They are unable to handle the volume that they have though. Clothes are rarely ready at 5pm, as promised. Today I showed up at 4:30 and was third in line. Apparently they lost the clothes for the two in front of me so I stood in line for 20 minutes before someone opened another register. When I gave them my slip for pickup, the answer was, "Not ready, maybe by 5pm". I've seen quite a few people who have had clothes lost ... even more who hear the dreaded words, "They're not ready". Guess I'll just start giving them their 'ready be 5pm" and add 24 hours to it and pick my clothes up the next day. At least they haven't destroyed the buttons on my shirts like a previous cleaners would do. read more

A very apologetic franchise owner, but unfortunately that doesn't cut it if you can't avoid losing shirts, sometimes don't actually clean the clothes, and can't figure out how to get them back on time. Is had a few bad experiences at this Zips but had given the shop another chance because there's a fairly new owner (according to him about 6 months) and its convenient to home. Shouldn't have... dropped off this morning at 0830 promised back by 5. The two customers in front of me had problems: one lost shirt and the other could see his paid for and bagged clothes had not in fact been cleaned. Mine weren't ready at all and it was 530. I asked for more than an apology and got "12 free shirt cleanings", thanks for nothing as I won't be back, and I also had a missing shirt (dry cleaning so more expensive). They managed to find it, but it hadn't been pressed (hopefully its been cleaned), and got it to me in another 5 minutes. Long story short...if you value tour clothes, don't bother with this Zips. read more

First time coming here, saw a few reviews but hopes for the best because its so close to home. Very slow at helping customers, not to mention I had only one item, one! A comforter. They stamped the ticket to be ready as of 11/20 (dropped off morning of 11/15). When I return, she can't find my big fluffy queen sized comforter anywhere. Completely held up the line and no one came to assist other customers until the girl specifically asked for help. She eventually found my item, only, it wasn't yet cleaned. So, I was told to return. I decided to give them an extra day to see if they could get it together over the holiday -maybe the break would do them good. Fortunately, when I returned 11/23 (eight whole days after my original drop off) it was ready except once again, the guy couldn't find it right away. Why? Because it was still all piled up in a bin in the back. Thank goodness it had been cleaned this time though. I know this because there's lint evenly dispersed across my comforter. Can't wait to get home and put that on my bed. Pay the extra buck if you can find a better place. I may give them one more chance, but its doubtful. read more

Don't waste your money! They obviously take shortcuts to charge a low price. My shirt collars were always dirty, even after asking them to pay closer attention to them! I never had ring around the collar problems until I started using Zips. Finally, I took my Zips cleaned shirts to another cleaner, and my shirts did not have anymore ring around the collar!! You obviously get what you pay for and I'd rather pay a little more to have my clothes cleaned properly! read more

I tried zips when they had a coupon in the mail for a free garmet. The first time I had no issue, but kind of annoying that they only take cash. No credit or debit cards. The second time I took clothes here, when I got home and was hanging them up, they had broken a button in half on one of my sweaters. Won't go here again. Clear that they don't treat your things nicely. read more

They are the cheapest in the area but they ruin clothes. Shirts/jackets come back wtih missing buttons, silk shirts come back shrunk and starched, dresses are returned improperly pressed. The staff is unsmiling; they don't bother to greet you when you walk in. The employees don't even greet you when they begin to assist you, they just ask for your Zips card. Overall, it is an unhappy place, with bad customer service and horrible work product. read more

I own an environmentally friendly dry cleaners in Tigard, Oregon (www.cheerfulcleaners.com) , been doing it as long as I can remember, so I speak from experience. When I travel Virginia I use local Dry Cleaners. A couple of times I have used the ZIps in Dumfries, Virginia. I would be embarrassed if I allowed the quality of my product to look like Zips. Shirts that look like they have been slept in, pants that have multiple creases, lint. No Q & A at all. They have very good equipment, just poorly trained management and staff. I will never use or recommend Zips. To add to the problem they use PERC, check it out, EPA is forcing it out of existence because it is so toxic. I wish they would come to Oregon, I could put them out of business with our quality, customers service, and environmentally safe chemicals. They don't deserve a star!! read more

Collars of laundered shirts were all pressed crooked. Could not even straighten them out with iron at home. They had to be laundered again. Suit pants were not creased correctly, all came back with double creases. Not happy at all! Will never go back. read more

I will not be taking my clothes here ever again!! I was happy to see they were opening a Zip's in the area, but what a disappointment. I have taken my clothes there a few times and majority of the time there was an issue. First time they gave me someone else's items. The last time they lost two items that I was going to wear for an interview. I was shocked to see how many missing items were on the rack. Also, the manager/owner is VERY INCOMPETENT and useless. He never returned any of my calls or apologized for the situation. He said repeatedly that Store policy says that he has 30 days to find the items. As soon as the 30 days were up, I went to file the claim. The manager/owner then told me he had 10 days to give us the check, which is even more frustrating when it was their mistake. Once 9 days had passed, I called him to find out the status of the check. The manager/ owner said that he had not had time to review my claim. I then quoted his policy of 10 days. He then gave me this sob story of not having $50 in the bank to pay me and that dry cleaning isn't a profitable business. Unbelievable! After pressuring him, I got my check within 2 days. He then had the nerve to say I hope we did not lose your business. Seriously?!? read more

Please read completely---I had originally sworn off this Zips a several months ago after they ruined 4 items over 3 visits - $300 in damages. I had very poor service at front desk and the cleaning left a lot to be desired - missing/melted buttons, scorched linen, white marks and lint on dress shirts, etc. DH continued to visit. Last week, they left out one of son's shirts and gave DH someone else's. I spoke with the new manager, Rosa. She immediately tracked down my son's shirt, had it returned, cleaned it again, and it's ready for pickup. I really appreciate the prompt response, and hope this is a sign of good things for this Zips. Also very impressed with Miguel, who was responsive when I called - patient, listened to situation, and put me in touch with Rosa. Coming from a customer service background that spans 25 years, I know how difficult it can be to find quality employees, and Rosa is also dealing with the "sins" of previous management/ownership. I appreciate that the corporate office reached out within a few hours of my review, and think that shows an interest in helping the store management succeed. Because of the positive experience I had with Rosa and Miguel, I'm willing to give this Zips another try, and I'm increasing my review to three stars. read more

Dropped off 13 tablecloths to be pressed for a wedding on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. They were supposed to be ready Wednesday by 5. I went in on Friday, the day before the wedding and saw them hanging, unpressed on the side of the shop. There were nervous whispers between the counter person and manager/owner? Then they started bagging the tablecloths and carrying them to me, without a word, as if they had been completed ! I confronted them on this and was told the pressers had left for the day and they would not be able to complete them. They never gave me a reason or an apology, instead I was treated with condescension. Finally, after I kept insisting that they make it right they agreed to have them ready at 7:30 AM the next morning (the day of the wedding). They were completed by then and they looked fine, but the deceitfulness of the owner/manager coupled with the arrogance toward his customer made this a horrendous experience.
