I paid for two dresses to be dry cleaned. One came back with a huge stain on the center of the chest area and the dress was strapless so they used safety pins to pin it to a hanger and now there are 2 holes in the dress. I wish I could give them a zero star ! Just purchase a brand new shirt from Hugo boss and dropped it off at 8am - press only. Picked it up at 5:27 pm, with a stain on the sleeve! So disappointed in the service and the lack of accountability from staff and management. Mind you this is $98 shirt! Update at 3:36pm today 11/7 - The manager voiced last Friday 11/3 , that she had someone to come to get the stain out . We go to pick up the shirt today and the stain is still there! Mind you this a brand new shirt ($158) and they were given instructions to just press the shirt. This was the first time ever coming to this Zips location. I've been a zips customer for a least 10 years now going to other locations. I've always loved their quality service and fast turnaround. This location, they lost a pair of my uniform pants. I dropped off some uniforms and only got my two shirts back and they tried to give me someone else's sweater. I told the lady at the counter that sweater is not mine and she questioned me. Now I wait for the owner to call me back after she checks the cameras. The staff members seemed to not care. Kinda weird to hear an employee complain about getting business. I dropped off a bunch of shirts, and the young lady says to her older co-worker, I don't get why these people don't just throw this stuff in the washing machine. She said it in Spanish, not realizing that I am Latino. I found it a little rude, but hilarious. Yes, I could wash some items, but I choose dry cleaning for certain items, because I like them lightly starched and pressed. However, it's not any of this employee's business. I was going to reply in Spanish to shock her, but I decided to let it go to save her the embarrassment. I could start going to another cleaner, especially since the prices at Zips keep rising. Again, I thought it was funny. But these employees should never assume that customers, can't understand what they're saying in Spanish. I dropped off a dress shirt to be dry cleaned here and they apparently gave it to someone else. i was understanding at first, knowing they have a TON of clothes to keep track of, but they seemed to not care at all. I asked them to call the person they think they gave it to. After about two weeks of hearing nothing back, I called to get an update and they say they called once and he didn't pick up, so they didn't try again (or leave a message). I went back to them to get a reimbursement for my dress shirt and, again, they were not at all apologetic. They had me name my price for the shirt but, to my surprise, they gave me store credit instead of cash without telling me. Tried this place at the recommendation of a friend. I don't have the heart to tell him how disappointed my wife and I are. Along with other items I brought one of my wife's dresses for dry cleaning and the Young man at the counter advised since the dress had bands of sequins around the wrist it may not be able to be cleaned. He advised if they could clean it they wound, but if not return if and refund me the charge for the dress. I was appreciative of this. Here it goes down hill. I return to pick up my clothes and the dress to find out the sequins she completely missing. I spoke to a young lady and a young man who didn't know anything about the missing sequins. I left the dress their for the manager to hopefully call me back. That didn't happen so I went back and asked to speak to a manager. A female employee who said she was the manager explained to me the sequins would have come off in the wash and glue would have melted away. I questioned to as to this issues of glue since my wife knew these sequins had been stitched to the dress and no glue!! The manager stated she would buy some sequins that evening at a store and sew them back on. The next day came and went. I went back in and spoke to her and the over the course of 2 days texts went back and forth of what type can be placed in the dress. She sent a few pictures from some online store so I can tell this was going nowhere. I advised the manager we were leaving town and was hoping the pictures I provided her of the sequins would be obtained and sewn on and put this matter to rest. During this time I also emailed the store and response back stated by someone unknown that I would receive a call. This call never came other than the manager texting me stating they would pay for the dress. Then crickets!! I stopped communicating since I was hoping some level of customer service and professionalism would prevail but this never happened. It was about the price of the dress it was about doing the right thing. My wife and I began to come to the realization the manager had no plans to locate the apparently lost or damaged sequins. The store never called when the sequins apparently came off to let us know and just left me try to take the dress and hope I never noticed playing me for a fool. There was no damage to the dress and it is suspect the sequins could have been removed. Why? I could only imagine. Today my wife and I went to recover the dress and communications to the manager from my wife in Spanish was clear. The manager tired to blame me as if I something to do with the lost sequins WOW!!!. She said she was responsible for what may have happened and my wife made it clear to her if she is the manager was not responsible for her staff in failing to reach put to us initially before I picked up the dress. My wife has over 30 years of professional customer service experience and gave her a quick course on her role as a manager. We took the dress and went home. In closing the counter staff have been courteous and understanding. I would promote one of them to be a manager and send this lady packing. read more

Stopped in Thursday at 4:45 to drop a get a dress altered. The guy at the counter said the alterations person left for the day and only works Thursday. Then I said there is no one else that can do it ? He said the manager will be in tomorrow. So I called today to double check someone is there and they said no one is working to do it. I also called two weeks ago asking information about alterations: why did no one say they only do them Thursday's at a certain time? Initially this location was great and convenient, but the Service has really gone down hill. As of lately, there is a young lady working there, no matter who you are, she complains under her breath every time someone comes in. She complains out loud if you come close to closing time, she complains if you have more than a few items of clothing. She has long nails with jewelry that snag your clothes...she is a nightmare and inevitably every time we go there, she is working. Based on her alone I would give this location 1 star. Getting in and out of the location is also a hassle. Management at the location is nonexistent. Highly suggest finding another location where you are actually welcomed and deal with less snarkiness. read more

This is the worst ZIPS I have been to since moving to VA three years ago. Between all my visits they have failed to see a button back on to my shirt three times in a row (the same shirt). They have had a machine error forcing everyone's laundry to be backed up by a day. They have lost two of my shirts within their own rack and had to search all the clothes to find them. They cleaned my pants with a pen causing them to be stained, then had to send them off-site to be cleaned. They now have no record of sending them off-site and cannot find them in their system. The manager - without checking the system - claimed she knew exactly where they were and that they could take over a month to get back. This isn't because it takes a month to clean, it's because the other ZIPS hasn't gotten to them yet. I wrote this review in line to speak to the manager and I was the third person in line; both people ahead of me have lost item issues. They are refunding someone for losing their shirt and are removing the cost of depreciation from the item cost. Before they do, though, they plan to "check the cameras" to see what he took. In addition to all of this, throughout my visits I have seen employees shouting at each other and seen a manager telling an employee he could not leave until he completed his tasks, at which point the employee told the manager he'll "leave whenever he f***in wants." I've been to ZIPS in Baltimore, DC, and VA - it's like this particular branch is a completely different company. It's obviously a workplace culture problem. Once I get my pants back - or get them refunded "after deprecation has been removed" - I will not be returning to this store. Unfortunately, this ZIPS is 40 minutes from my house (dropped off while in training) and they've already erroneously called me once to let me know it's ready, so I still have another 80 minutes to drive to get this store out of my life for good. read more

Love it. $2.29 for full service clothing and $19.99 for comforters. That's just incredible. We've used this location for everything from his military dress uniforms and formal suits to my delicate summer maternity dresses and elegant silk black tie dresses and everything comes back perfectly clean and pressed. I took a brand new dress to this ZIPS after wearing it once to be cleaned. It smelled of smoke and restaurant and at the recommendation of the designer (dry clean only) I had it dry cleaned....I dropped it off at ZIPS before going out of town and had my mom pick it up for me...well they destroyed this $75 dollar dress that I wore once and then hid the damage! Smh I dropped the dress off as pictured in the first picture with the three cute patches as pictured. Well when my mom picked it up, it looked like the second picture! Patches are completely gone. When I confronted the store about it they acted confused.. when I asked to speak to the manager she is never "available", "not in today" "just left" "on leave" and this is when ever I call or stop by. This is Beyond frustrating, I have been extremely patient l, all I want is to be reimbursed for my item and my dry cleaning expenses. For ZIPS to take ownership of their errors because I am sorry goes a lot further than ducking dodging lying and shifting blame or not taking responsibility. Its even more clear the item was serviced there, The blue tag from "Patricia R" with my name and item # from handling my garment is still attached to the garment, its still on the ZIPS hanger and there is no denying it was this establishment. I've been using this ZIPs location for quite awhile - probably most often for the low prices and frequent coupons. However now, they are my forever cleaners. I had not discovered an error in my ticket - the short version is that it had been issued in someone else's name, I should have looked at it - I didn't - I just tucked it under the sun visor in my truck. I presented that same ticket (vice using my key tag or providing my phone number) when I returned with another arm load of clothes. That resulted in two loads of my clothes being cleaned under someone else's name. The good news is that an alert manager discovered the error, found all of my clothes, and I was reunited with all of my clean clothes the next time I came in. There was a lot of detective work done on their part to figure out who I was. Well done Dumfries ZIPs - I'll be back! read more

On two separate occasions, I've dropped off dry cleaning, and it looks like nothing has been cleaned. I thought it might be a fluke the first time, but the second time, I knew it was for sure not. The reason being is because I had an old jacket that has not been cleaned a year or so, and when it came back, it still had that old closet smell plus the wrinkles. No Integrity within this establishment. I say that because they know people don't have time to sit and inspect each article of clothing and customers trusted them to have done their job. read more

I'm not sure how to rate this because the service is great, the prices are very reasonable, but the place is literally a sweatshop. I'd be willing to pay 50 cents more per garment if it meant your staff could have air conditioning. They are in a huge room surrounded by steamers and other huge machinery, just sweating and trying to work. I went in to drop off a dress and it was 91 degrees outside. I opened the door and was hit with a wall of heat that had to be near 100 degrees. These are unacceptable working conditions and extremely unnecessary. I will support another dry cleaner until Zips learns to provide a safe work environment for its workers. read more

We started using this location because it was closer to our new home. Previously we were using the Manassas location on Liberia. We've only taken our clothes here 3 times and each time we've had issues. They do not press your clothes properly. I've had so many creased up shirts and shirts that looked like they weren't even presses at all. This last time was no different and it looked like they ripped off one of my buttons and didn't replace it. And replacing buttons they broke is supposed to be a part of regular service. I requested they didn't put pins in my pants to keep them on the hanger and I get them back and of course there's pins. The pins create large holes that don't go away. We've decided to go back to using the Liberia location since they are much better. Whenever I've had am issue there it was immediately rectified. The Dumfries location has only one thing going for them and that's the fact they accept credit cards. I even saw a girl in the window in Hooters type shorts and she was working! So I read the previous reviews a couple days ago but needed to get my suits cleaned for a funeral and business reception fast. I was apprehensive about going here due to the bad reviews but I went for it anyway. I figured I could sew a button on or clean the lint off. I took them 4 suits and it's cash only so I hit the teller before coming. All 4 suits came up to less than $15 which is normally what I pay for 1.5 suits at the cleaners around the corner from my house. I was worried they were going to ruin them once I found out the total price. Turned out they did a great job. Suits were clean and pressed nicely. I'm sure they're not perfect every time but they definitely came through for me. Customer service was great too. If the line got long one of the other workers would come and man a register. I take my dry clean items here due to convenience and cost. I had an item sent for hem repair here and it was returned incomplete with the hem still detached in four or more areas with oversized loose stitching with a material comparable to a fishing line. I took it back and they promised repair, but I still am taken aback by the quality repair they returned to me in the first week. They had my dress for 1.5 weeks for a bottom hem line repair on the backside only-- no reason why it should have been so horrible. The hem repair was $12, so it wasn't anything less than the comps too. I may cease going here entirely. The manager told me it looked like it hadn't been done at all and they must have only dry cleaned it. It wasn't dry cleaned and I didn't put the fishing line there, they did. read more

I wouldn't give this place any stars. All these comments about their being air in the store are false this poor teenage looking girl she wears shorts and a head band everyday. Two younger man wearing jeans. And They Are DRENCHED in sweat. There is no AC in this establishment and i'm going to report it. These are NOT suitable working conditions for these poor kids. They always look miserable , out of breathe , and sweaty. It is almost 100 degrees out. Why is there no air ? Fans serve no justice for these children. Will be reporting this. I don't do dry cleaning often, but when I do, I choose somewhere cheap. Zips mostly fits that bill. I went in the day before and made sure everything was good. The staff was very friendly and personable. They were able to give me a good time to pick up the clothes the next day. I came the next day and the clothes were ready to pick it up. The clothes were in great and clean condition. Nothing was ruined! I would definitely recommend this place to others! read more

Two weeks ago I took 22 pieces of laundry in for cleaning. Specifically asked that all pants & capris (18 pair) Picked them up a week later. Got home to put them away and found that 7 pair had not been creased. Took them back a few days later and pointed out that they werent creased as requested. I was assured that they'd be redone properly. I went today to pick them up and 4 of the 7 pair are not creased even though they all have a tag that says "CREASE". Oh, and now the white pants have a big black stain on them. I called and was told to come in on Saturday and see the owner 'Mr. Mike' because he could help me better than anyone that is there right now. Are you kidding me? Not even an "I'm sorry" from the young man I spoke to. Like I'm going to give them a third opportunity. I'll be looking for another dry cleaner. read more
