Full disclosure, I had no idea what zippies was. I made up a story in my head that it was pretty much a different kind of Denny's. I was absolutely wrong. Think of this place as a high-end Hawaiian barbecue place. Looking at the menu they have great items to eat. Pretty much the same thing that you would find on a wine barbecue menu, except upscale. I opted for the Korean fried Chicken which came on a plate with two scoop rice and one scoop. Mac salad. Okay, I got to tell you, the Mac salad is absolutely off the chart! I don't normally go from Mac salad but when I'm at a Hawaiian barbecue place I absolutely am all about it. My girlfriend had the chicken katsu which also came with two scoop rice, one scoop, Mac salad. And a really great katsie sauce. It too was very delicious, crunchy and hot as it should be. The service was okay, it wasn't spectacular. It was just okay. On the way out, you have to stop at the bakery section. Just looking through the glass of those cakes. I probably gained 30 lb. But I'll tell you what. We couldn't help but take a few of the pastries home with us. Everything there is amazing. After running a marathon earlier in the day, I came here on a Saturday evening to get some dinner. There were now 4 locations in Las Vegas! With this visit, I had gone to 3 out of 4. This location was just south of the 215 freeway, near the Eastern Ave and Silverado Ranch Blvd intersection. This place was one that was big enough that they had a bar section. This location has a take out and dine in. I didn't notice a outside seating area. Although there wasn't too many patrons service on the take out side was really slow. It took 15 minutes to be greeted. When I peeked behind the counter the staff was packing items. The guest behind me asked how long I was waiting and let staff know that there were people waiting to order. There was nothing in the bakery. I was hoping for a Chantilly or dobash cake. I was excited to get the "complete meal" but since there were no desserts in the showcase I couldn't Service on the dine in side was attentive. Our drinks were refilled and we were checked on. For dine in we ordered the saimien and oxtail soup. Both were great and it hit the spot. They don't offer mini sizes. Take out we ordered the Zippack, spaghetti, and The Wrecking Crew Pac favorites: 3 scoops rice (furikake), 2 scoops chili, and the Wrecking Crew Pac (1 scoop mac salad, fried chicken, 4 slices Portuguese sausage, and 1 piece hoki fish.) It was created for the movie The Wrecking Crew, watch it if you haven't it's streaming on Prime. All of our to go orders tasted great. My only regret is not buying more items. Ample parking. I know it can be very busy, but it was quiet when we visited on this Monday evening. We were seated right away, and they have a large dining room with booth and table seating. Everything looked clean and well-kept. Our server was quite friendly and attentive, and soft drinks were frequently refilled. I had the "chili moco" which is basically the loco moco with some of their famous chili (with beans or sans beans - your choice). This features two eggs cooked how you want them, chili, two hamburger patties, and gravy all atop rice. It also includes macaroni salad on the side. It is a very hearty (and tasty!) meal. The patties were hot and tasty and not greasy. The sauce and chili were both delicious. I could finish all the rice as I filled up on the other items. The macaroni salad was tasty as well if a bit on the salty side. I opted for the "complete meal" upgrade for about $11 extra which includes soup or salad, soft drink, Hawaiian dinner roll, and dessert of your choice. The salad was very basic but tasted fresh. The roll was basically a warm King's Hawaiian roll which was fresh and tasty. It was warmed in a microwave, however, so it really didn't have any crispiness or crunchiness. They only had a few different cakes and pies to choose from - I had hoped for a chocolate choice but none were available. I went for their haupia (coconut) cake which was exceptionally moist and delicious! Overall, this was a very delicious meal that I really enjoyed more than the delivery orders we've experienced. I have been to this location a few times and have had better experiences than the last time I came in. The restaurant was a little too warm, even with the blinds closed it was hot in our booth. Server was nice, his badge said that he was a brand ambassador, not sure what that meant but he was nice and speedy! Love the chicken Katsu and the sauce! Zippy's is always a favorite! The wait in Henderson can be long but for a Saturday morning a 15 minute wait wasn't bad. The menu on the mainland is a little smaller than in Hawaii, but has many of the favorites! The restaurant is always clean and the staff is always friendly! I got the Korean chicken breakfast plate with 2 eggs, spam and rice. This will fill you up and I couldn't finish today. Unfortunately, I was so hungry I forgot to take photos of the food. We finally got a chance to try Zippy's and were excited that the Eastern location is now open because we live closer to that location. Zippy's has always been talked up as the best Hawaiian food in town, so I was excited to try their garlic chicken. I compared it to Lefty J's since that's our usual Hawaiian food spot, and sadly it did not compare in my opinion. We opted for the takeout since it had been a long day, and it was raining. We ordered the chicken trio, the Korean fried chicken and chili, the chili with rice, an extra mac salad, and we ordered some pastries since those were also raved about. After waiting for our order, we ran to the car to get away from the rain and headed home. A HUGE letdown to find out that our napple and glazed mochizada did not make it into our order, a letdown for the restaurant and for us since we did not check our bag before leaving. I wasn't expecting perfection, especially since the food was sitting in covered containers, so we expected some of the food to lose its structure, crunch, etc. However, our chicken tasted like it had been sitting in the warmer, and the glaze wasn't really on the chicken, it was bland. The fried chicken was also not tasty- and was oily. The macaroni salad was salty, and I could not finish it, so we could not finish our food and could not tell you about the pastries since we did not get them. The chili was decent, but if you order the chili rice, you get about a 4-6-ounce scoop of white rice, and a heaping serving of chili- but the rice portion is more than the chili you get in the bowl. Not sure if this location was just having an off day, or maybe they were having issues since they're fairly new to the area; and they might need more training for their plates- but unfortunately for me, I am not looking or thinking of revisiting. My husband called them and let them know we were missing the pastries, but it still took a while for the manager to call back since they were busy for us to get a refund. The manager did apologize and offered the refund and said they'd mail some coupons for us to try again. In my personal opinion, I will stick with my Lefty J's. Maybe their other Zippy's location is better since that's where our friends go, but if I'm in the area and I have a choice between the eastern's Zippy's or Lefty's, Zippy's wouldn't be my first choice. read more

We walked in around 6pm with a party of five and were seated immediately, huge plus on a special night. Everyone found something they loved: * Wife got her usual Zip Pac and was in heaven * Our eldest demolished the Korean Fried Chicken (says it's still the best) * Middle kid happily twirled through a big plate of spaghetti * Our little was all smiles with the Saimin * I went with the Portuguese bean soup, a bowl of chili, and the meat curry. The soup and chili were spot-on as always, but the meat curry was a miss for me -- meat was a bit tough even though the flavor was decent. Won't order that one again, but everything else was perfect. (Side note: I normally have a chicken sensitivity but Zippys KFC never bothers me, love that!) We grabbed desserts to-go because we were stuffed: Chocolate Dobash cake, strawberry Jell-O cream cheese square, and three Chantilly cream puffs. Those disappeared in the car before we even got home. The service was friendly but a bit slow -- we never got our coffee refilled or the sauce we asked for. The food itself was just okay for me, especially for the price. Portions were on the smaller side, and my corned beef hash wasn't hot when served. On the positive side, the pancakes were fantastic -- definitely worth trying! The rice was perfectly cooked, and the macaroni salad had that classic Hawaiian flavor. My chili fries were decent, but the chili tasted a bit too sweet for my liking. We plan to come back and give lunch or dinner a try since I've heard great things about those menus. I was pretty excited when they opened nearby! They operate as both a fast food or sit in. When you walk in you can waitlist to sit down on the right. The left side of the restaurant is pick up to go or order and eat at a first come first serve seating. The service was quick and it was pretty crowded and lively the day we went since it just opened. The place was also pretty clean. Food: Kalua 7/10: not too salty which I liked! The meat was tender and the flavors balanced out well with the rice and cabbage that came with it. I would order this again. Combo 6/10 the katsu was nice and crispy, not too dry. However the Korea chicken was wayyy too much flour and barely any chicken. I wasn't too much of a fan.
