There were people at the checkout, but upstairs there were really only two people, and that's not enough for a large footprint and inventory questions and things like that. Very Disappointing Customer Service Experience…read more I had a very unpleasant experience with a member of the leadership team named Billy during a recent visit to the Dick's Sporting Goods at Del Amo. I attempted to return a pair of youth cleats that were still in new condition. They showed no signs of wear on the soles--only a small amount of dust from my child trying them on briefly on a dirt field. The cleats were black, making the dust more noticeable. I purchased them just 27 days earlier and had my original receipt. According to the return policy printed on the receipt, returns are accepted for items in new condition. Billy immediately refused both a refund and even a store credit. Because he was the acting leader, I requested to speak with the store manager. Billy seemed reluctant to involve the manager, but I insisted. Store Manager Val inspected the cleats himself. He explained that worn shoes are generally not eligible for return, but after examining the cleats and confirming they were still in new condition and within the 30-day return window, he approved a store credit. What disappointed me most wasn't the policy--it was Billy's customer service. Throughout the interaction, he had a dismissive attitude, made very little eye contact, appeared irritated whenever I asked a question, and showed no interest in resolving the situation professionally. Those are qualities I would not expect from someone in a leadership position. I appreciate Manager Val for taking the time to inspect the item and applying the return policy fairly. Unfortunately, Billy's approach made what should have been a simple return into an unnecessarily frustrating experience.

As it is such a large shopping complex, with a lot of different businesses, they have a super large parking lot, so parking should never be an issue. Once inside, what you'll find is the sporting goods and the activity goods that you would expect to find at Dick's. They have a little bit of everything. For the very astute professional, in the various sporting fields, they may not have the exacting item that you are looking for. But, for the novice in any field, they pretty much have something at least to get you started. Of course, they have tons of activewear, shoes, sunglasses, all of the various needs for all of the various sports that you can think of. It's just as simple as that. The staff here are all super nice and helpful. They're happy to guide you and help you with any need you may have. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. ---- Road Runner Sports started as a promising experience but turned into one of the most frustrating customer service situations I've had. I came in to buy running shoes, and the initial process seemed great. The associate scanned my feet (which was actually pretty cool), had me try insoles, and brought out three shoe options that fit my profile. However, communication was difficult, he was mostly mumbling, and I had to repeatedly ask him to clarify what he was saying. When I decided on a pair of ASICS, he immediately tried to upsell the insoles (around $120), even though I had only tried the shoes with those insoles, not with the original ones. That felt a bit misleading. At checkout, he also pushed the VIP membership, saying it would give me 90 days to try the shoes and return them if needed, making it sound like that flexibility depended on being a member. We declined. When I got home and tried to run in the shoes, I couldn't even last 90 seconds, they just didn't work for me. We called the store (using the number listed online) and were told that as long as the shoes looked brand new, we could return them. That gave us confidence to go back. Unfortunately, the in-store experience during the return was completely different. The associate told us: * The shoes did not qualify as "brand new" * We could not get a refund to the original payment method unless we were members * The only option was a gift card Then, again, we were offered the membership as a solution. The inconsistency between what we were told on the phone and what happened in-store, combined with the repeated upselling, made this a very frustrating experience. What started as a helpful, professional fitting ended with unclear policies and poor communication.
