Manager, AKA Abdul, refuses to provide me with a detailed bill and is holding on to my car. I have requested numerous times for a bill and that I would like to remove my car BUT he refuses - even in the presence of the police. He currently has a law suit against Zipin Out in the County of Alameda. This body shop is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau and has had his license revoked and delinquent on and off since the past few years. Be SURE to look him up before engaging in business with him. He REFUSES to give me a bill, has NOT worked on my car, has NOT provided evidence that he ordered parts for my car with the money I provided to him upon his request. This body shop is dishonest and will make you go through the legal channels if you want your car back unless you pay him what he determines without any proof of work. BeWARE. The saga continues..... this is a CHOP SHOP. Not your "friend". They took both the front and rear catalytic converters off of my car and replaced them with garbage. We had to replace both and found that the one swapped onto the car was not the original cat that was on the car when we got it. Someone out there has my old cat and paid full price for a new one, upwards of $1000..... this is not only illegal but immoral. Clearly there are no morals with these guys. Who knows what else they stole from me. Essentially my car is totaled. Small claims will hopefully make me whole financially. Sadly it won't give me back the hair I've lost. The good news... the BAR Association has found them in violation with my case and they now have another strike against them.... when they take advantage of you do not hesitate to open up a case with BAR and force these scam artists out of business for good. read more

I have been a happy customer here for past many years for various services but went there last week first time after it is being managed by owner's son. Learned that he is managing this shop since a year+. So first, I showed up on scheduled time only to learn that he has to reschedule me to a later time. Now I went there at the rescheduled time. He told me it will be 1 hour to finish so, I decided to stay at the shop. When I saw that the car is not taken up for service after 1 hour 20 minutes (which is understandable as Saturdays are busy times), I just asked him, if it can be expedited. Moment, I said that, he pulled out my car and advised that I take the car out to some other service station. I did not argue with him and left the place. Now since tires are not readily available at the other shops, my wait continues. Since tires are really bad, I cannot drive my car till it is fixed on Wed at some other shop. I messaged the owner with whom I worked with for my service needs since past many years at this place as it was shocking to be served in this manner but got no response. Zipin offered me to show the video , but they never did. They talk nice but are chop-shop. I am surprised that more people are still falling into the trap. Summary: They were to do simple brake fluid flush job and instead of doing the job they deliberately twisted the brake fluid hoses to extract additional $100. As I explained , this is not good for your brakes and could be dangerous for your vehicle if it fails. All this drama to get additional $100. I had to take it to other place to get it fixed . My engine light recently turned during MLK weekend, and I suddenly was not able to drive my vehicle above 35 mph. I was completely unaware of the cause of the issue my vehicle was facing and I, at the time, did not suspect any issues with the transmission because I just had that serviced with Zipin staff less than 2 weeks ago (for $170). It was Sunday when I brought my car to Jiffy Lube for inspection. Jiffy Lube was one of the few servicing facilities that were open and near my current location in Lodi, California, where I was stuck for a long period of time. They tried pouring over 4 quarts of transmission fluid into my vehicle, which led to no improvement. They then referred me to PepBoys for further investigation. PepBoys was closing by the time I had brought my car in, and I was instructed to leave my vehicle there overnight in order for the mechanics to look at it first thing in the morning on Monday. They informed me that it was not safe to drive my vehicle anywhere, let alone back to the Bay Area. I had no choice but to stay another night in Lodi to have my vehicle fixed. They then found the seal to be improperly placed by Zipin staff, causing the spring to detach and the transmission fluid to leak entirely. It is evident that this mistake caused by Zipin staff caused further damage to my vehicle, which became significantly more emergent, inconvenient, and expensive to fix. I am incredibly disappointed with the services that were provided to me at Zipin Out Auto Service, for these damages could have been prevented. PepBoys actually encouraged me to take it up to BAR, but I just wanted my refund. When I called to rightfully ask for my refund that Monday, I was talked to in an incredibly rude and presumptuous manner. We argued back and forth for a while until he finally realized that I was asking for a refund for the services that HE provided. He kept insisting from the moment I simply asked for a refund that there was "nothing we can do about it - it's already repaired!" I was confused, and he became harder to understand as he raised his voice at me over the phone. He was somehow under the impression the entire time of our pointless squabble that I was asking for the money that I paid PEPBOYS (over $700, btw), which makes absolutely no sense because I never said nor asked for that. He scoffed at me and called me rude and continued to call me rude when I came to the shop in person to retrieve my refund today...I didn't say anything to him in person to provoke or justify him barking at me over how "rude" I am - really uncalled for and so unprofessional. Customer Service tip: No matter how rude a client may be, you still have to maintain your calm and swallow your pride. I work with high maintenance and difficult patients for a living - I would know. Also, they're horrible with online communication. I had sent the staff an email on Tuesday (the day after our pointless squabble) detailing the damages and attached photos of the leak and all of the bills he asked for. I never got a response. I called later that week, and he told me to come in Monday (today) to get my money back. He admitted to not reading my email and barely opened my email when I came in today for my refund. From the beginning of our 'professional' relationship, he has been condescending towards me, and he incessantly talks over me. I was willing to tolerate this rude behavior if that meant that I would get the cheapest quote possible. I'm all for supporting small businesses, but this faulty service and horrible customer service was ridiculous. Also, if I'm not mistaken, it's against Yelp's policy to ask customers to write five-star reviews on Yelp. He pressured me to do that the first time I brought my car in, which I was willing to do at the time. On the plus side, they can do oil changes and change your windshield wipers. I wouldn't go to them for anything else...or at all for that matter. read more

NEVER GO HERE!!!! I bought my car from a small dealership in Oakland. When we went to look at it, 1 of the door locks wasn't working correctly. The salesman said NO WORRIES!! I will send you to a shop in Newark and pay for the repairs. They kept the car for a month, kept losing the parts, would call and say it was fixed. We get there and the door locks do NOT work. Leave the car again, a couple weeks go by, they have it fixed. We get there and the door panel is all ripped up and the insulation is falling out. "You brought us the car like that!" Ummm.....really? You think we could BUY the car like that considering we brought the car to the shop the day after we purchased it. Abdul, does NOT call you back and when he does he all nice and friendly until you point out the errors and the time it has taken for repairs to be made and then he speaks like you don't understand the delays and issues they have on their side. When we picked up the car, Abdul said the repairs were lifetime warranty and we would get this all in writing by email. I have never seen the email. I have requested the email a few times and NOTHING. They are suppose to have replaced the door panel and are working to locate one, but a month later and NOTHING! I have given up on thinking I will get a new door panel. I have learned to NEVER go to this shop ever again even if the salesman says he will pay for the repairs. This place is shady, they constantly lie to you. It took over FOUR MONTHS to fix my daughters car. I was given several dates it was to be ready and another lie. They lied to my Insurance Co. My wife went down to pay for the car and their card machine wasn't working another lie to get me to have to go to the bank and get cash. My wife left her wallet down their by mistake and they didn't even call us until we showed up three weeks later because of another promise date and another lie. The advertised hours say that Z!PIN OUT Auto Service is open on Saturdays at 7 am. I arrived at 7:15 on Saturday, March 8th. As I type this review on my phone, I am still waiting for someone to show up and open. As a customer I have basic expectations. The most fundamental is that if a business wants me as a customer, they need to follow through with what they advertise. If you can't deliver what you say, don't say it! I have a tip for this business. Although early opening hours are convenient, they are only convenient if you're open when you say you're going to be open. It's a bad business practice to advertise a service and/or convenience that you DO NOT actually provide. My tip for prospective customers is to call ahead to verify Z!PIN OUT Auto Service is open, so you don't waste your time. I have visited Zipin Out Auto Care several times. The prices are very fair. Abdul has always been open with me regarding what needs to be fixed and what could wait based on my budget constraints. One of the coolest things that the shop offers is free diagnostics that they provide along with oil change. During the oil change, they inspect leaks, spills, brakes, tires, etc. You get a pretty good idea about your cars overall condition if you are not going through routine preventive inspections. read more

Zipin Out used my car to store/transport suspicious boxes, put 150+ miles on my car, then threatened me repeatedly. Do not trust this shop. Had my car professionally diagnosed as needing rear strut replacements + wheel bearings. Told Abdul this when I left the car with him on a Tuesday. Wrote the mileage on my car down before I left. Picked my car up on a Friday morning, paid more than quoted. Was only mildly disappointed - until I got 15 phone calls and a voicemail from Abdul Jr, shop manager, who said he had left some of his belongings in my trunk.. I find three taped up boxes of what appeared to be misc. computer parts. At this point I checked my mileage on my car and the shop had put over 150 miles on it! Abdul showed up at my house that night when I was not home demanding his things, called over 50 times, and threatened me. When I called and confronted the shop later that night, they only slightly admitted driving the car over 100 miles, then stated that they "drove the car just enough to diagnose the repairs needed" - I was offered $100 in return for signing a non-disclosure agreement (total repair cost $950). Hah! Eventually after many more threats and intimidation, I surrendered his belongings to the police - his overreaction had me fearful and I did not want to return to his shop. Shop manager is a younger guy, maybe around 20 years old. Called ahead during the week for an oil change. Dropped it off and told them I would be back in 1 hr after a Dr's appt. When I get back the car still had not been touched. Nobody else waiting, so I knew something was up. They started the oil change 15 mins after I got back and total completion time after I dropped it off was 2 hrs. While my car was in the air not being touched, I watched 2 mechanics chit chat about women. I got a good deal on the oil change, but honestly Im weary that they did not even use full synthetic. When it was done they told me they couldnt reset my oil change light because it hasnt lit up yet, and gave me printed instructions to do so. Which as far as I know, those things work off mileage counter so they can always be reset. Hmmm... I saved $10-$20 but honestly I would have rather gotten it done from a more professional establishment and paid the difference. I was in a real jam, My car broke down on Christmas Eve so I ended up having to leave it at the mechanic that AAA took me to, I was supposed to go back home Sunday evening Christmas Day. I had. to wait til Monday and I also had to take an Uber to Santa Cruz and and an Uber back to Fremont. then the place AAA drop me off at was closed and would not t be opened til Tuesday, so I had to have AAA come out again and take my car to another place. I looked Kingpin Auto up they had four stars so I chose to go there and they were close by. I thought they were super nice, super friendly and very professional. I can talk a lot and I wS talking constantly, no one got annoyed with me, they just did the work. They wanted to do more but I said just fix it so I can get home. They are pretty good with the appointment time and the amount of time needed for the service, and they are honest about what they can do and cannot do. I feel honesty and integrity are part of their company. Fast free wifi and Netflix definitely help with the wait time. When I first brought my car in around 2pm, they said they were behind schedule and wanted to have lunch first. They even invited me to join them for lunch since I didn't happen to have lunch either. Came here to have a trailer hitch installed based on a recommendation from Amazon. My appointment was at 3pm. When I arrived, the clerk told me their tech was not there and was 15 min away. I waited for an hour and a half before the tech arrived and they asked for my key. While I was waiting, the clerk was talking to another customer about what sounded like a regular maintenance servicing. The whole time, the clerk was telling the customer about how awful other shops and dealerships are, how they simply try to rob you and how they sell you unnecessary parts (such as an air filter). I felt that it was very unprofessional to bad mouth other businesses to customers. If you're trying to convince a customer into a sale, try spending your time about why your shop is good, not why others are bad. When I got into the car to leave, the car reeked of BO. It was worse than a week old gym bag. I had to leave all the windows down the entire ride home to get the smell to fade. Needed both front wheel bearings done on 1999 Impreza outback, notoriously annoying bearings to work on. Was able to drop it off early, and I appreciated the lift to the train so I could get to work. When they were changing the bearings it turned out one of my shocks had exploded (the seal had blown, and leaked all over the caliper). Were able to get the new shocks in at the same time, saving labor costs, and I was still able to pick the car up same day! (Dropped off with appointment at 8am, picked up 430pm) Car sounds good and rides smooth, chill people to work with. Let me know I needed brakes done, but didn't pressure me to get it done there (since I do that myself) Hopefully nothing else goes sour soon, but when I eventually need work done I'll swing back here :v read more
