Avocado Toast - A takeout box contains a mixed green salad with different types of lettuce, sliced red onions, cheese shavings, and a small container of dressing. A white plastic fork is placed on top of the salad, and the ingredients appear fresh and colorful.

Service and everything was good coffee and orange juice was good , but the "avocado toast" was just way too many extra things on top, all the vegetables are huge chunks , just overall not good.

1/2 meatless on ciabatta - A sandwich with green bread, filled with leafy greens, tomato slices, and cheese, is placed on a white plate at a cafe. The sandwich is partially wrapped in white paper, and the background shows a coffee cup, water glasses, and a person sitting at the table. The setting appears to be indoors with large windows and outdoor scenery visible.

I came here on a Saturday morning around 11am and there was plenty of place to sit. There is no formal parking lot so you have to find street parking. There are no tables inside but there are umbrellas outside to sit in the shade. I ordered the hazelnut latte with almond milk and the meatless sandwich on ciabatta. The latte was made immediately and was extremely good. It wasn't too sweet and the hazelnut flavor was delicious. The sandwich had a bit too much pesto which made the bread really soft. In the future, I would definitely ask for less pesto but overall a good sandwich. The food came out pretty slow considering my friends and I were the only ones there but at the time I think there were only 2 people working. The overall meal + drink cost about $20. I would definitely come here again, these are the kinds of sandwiches you'd take with you for a lovely picnic.

Italian - A hand is holding a sandwich with visible layers of lettuce, tomato, and meat inside a bun. A banana is placed on the table behind the sandwich, and part of a white plate with food is also visible in the background. The setting appears to be a casual dining area or kitchen.

customer service was fire place is really cute food was really good - breakfast bagel (on sesame bagel) 7/10 (i'm critical with bagels but it was yummy) - italian hot sandwich 10/10 (sooo good) good bang for your buck they have good seating and wifi too

A sandwich is cut in half, displaying layers of fresh lettuce, sliced tomato, red onions, and seasoned ground meat, all inside a soft bread bun. The sandwich is partially wrapped in white paper and placed on a light-colored surface, likely in a casual dining or takeout setting.

Got the pastrami, wow lots of flavor juicy and absolutely filled up. really filling and excellent sauce. I also got the turkey pesto and just as good. Place is a top notch sandwich shop.

heavenly ham & cheese croissant | spicy almond milk chai latte - A croissant sandwich filled with sliced turkey meat is held in hand, showing its flaky, layered interior. In the background, a cup of coffee with foam art spelling 'LOVE' in cinnamon powder is visible. The setting appears to be outdoors, with a blurred background of plants and pavement.

A - ma - ZING ~ I loveeeeeee the sandwiches here. They have the PERFECT ham and cheese croissant. Their outdoor seating is really whimsical and homey. Their employees are also super friendly. Overall, a wonderfully quaint place to sit outside and enjoy the California sunshine. The only thing I haven't particularly cared for is their drinks. Last time I stopped in I ordered a dirty chai that was incredibly watery. I'm thinking it was just an off day or a new barista was training because everything else is usually fabulous. I definitely wouldn't order their tea again, but I'm going to try more of their coffee in the future. This should be a regular Berkeley stop for you if you like breakfast sandwiches!

Chicken Ranch - A sandwich with multiple layers of lettuce, tomato, cheese, and meat is cut in half and served on a white plate outdoors. The sandwich is partially wrapped in white paper, and the setting includes a wooden table with a drink, a hand holding a smartphone, and other outdoor dining elements in the background.

Sandwiches to die for. We've been eyeing Zing Cafe for the past couple months and finally found the time to visit South Berkeley for brunch. Great food, service, and atmosphere-- This is the epitome of local eats! For COVID safety purposes, all staff/patrons must wear masks, and all available seating is outdoors. Side street parking only (bit of a sketchy area). Employees are extremely friendly, but maybe understaffed. We saw maybe 2 workers during a slow Sunday afternoon, and our 3 sandwiches still took around 40 mins. Fortunately we were glad to soak in the sun, surrounded by the cafe's decorative plants. CHICKEN RANCH: PERFECTLY. TOASTED. BREAD. Fresh veg, savory meats, great sauce-to-filling ratio. Their chicken is grilled and seasoned just right. Relieved that the wait was worth it! Something to note: I think their location is near... A wasp nest or something? A little distracting to eat a sandwich when there are 2-3 wasps constantly hovering over your food (one, to our sheer terror, even landing on me and refusing to budge). I also didn't see anyone wiping the tables down between guests-- again, probably understaffed. Can only hope that this is an anomaly, otherwise would definitely come back.

A sandwich with thick slices of bread, containing ham, lettuce, and other ingredients, partially unwrapped from white paper. The sandwich is placed on a white surface, with a coffee cup, a glass, and other items visible in the background, suggesting a casual dining setting.

That is a good turkey pesto sandwich. Fresh veggies, good bread, solid lemonade and coffee on the side. Nice little local joint. Great service.

The image depicts the exterior of Zing! Cafe, a small building with Tudor-style architectural features, including exposed wooden beams and stucco walls. A sign with the text 'Zing! Cafe' hangs outside, and a flowering bush with purple blooms is in the foreground. The building has open windows, and a wooden pergola extends from the side of the building. The sky is partly cloudy, and the overall scene suggests a quaint, inviting cafe setting.

The breakfast sandwiches are pretty good. Exterior decor is very cute and charming. Service could be improved though...I don't ever expect superb service or anything, just respect/no rudeness. Our cashier that day was on impatient side and very curt with us. I've worked food service before too so I usually give people slack but it wasn't like they were even busy so not sure why we were met with attitude.

This is the reason why I love this place (look at the picture need I say more). The portions are good, the presentation is beautiful, and it os HEALTHY!!

Great quiet place to get out of the sun on a hot day and read a book. Nice, indoor or outdoor seating. Great service delicious food.

The food was always good, but the service was never particularly warm--polite, efficient, and impersonal, like a well-drilled operation. There was no one waiting behind us, but we were met with an inflexible, robotic "sorry, we're closed." No one was overtly rude, but the interaction felt rigid and mechanical, as if following procedure mattered more than acknowledging the people standing in front of them. It would not have taken much effort to accept one last order from a loyal couple with a newborn--especially since nobody else was waiting behind us. In the end, Standard Fare is closing exactly as it operated: precise, rigid, and lacking warmth. Hopefully the next business in this location will treat its customers with a bit more empathy.

The food always looked really good, but for whatever reason I always ended up ordering from somewhere else. Well, I finally did it. I finally ordered from Cali Alley, and all I have to say is, why did I wait so darn long? Door Dash was having a 2-for-1 deal on the Cali Alley Burger, so I ordered one of those (and got another for free) , as well as on the small mac and cheese, so I ended up with two of those as well. I got fries as he side for the burgers and saved the second burger and mac and cheese for the next day. I also bought a small side of veggie fried rice for lunch later in the week. OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.
