Everything about this eatery is EXCELLENT: The food is always fresh, delicious and generous. The family who run it pour such dedication, they're the best: Eric, Hugo, Ana ... and they have built up their regulars, like myself! Good place to go to if you don't mind waiting forever to get your food!! I waited an extra 25 minutes for my food to be ready versus when it should've been done and I wasn't the only one either the gentleman that was there before me was in the same situation he was actually even more frustrated because as he told the gentlemen working that he was actually going to be late for work because of this!!! And the lady after me even said she couldn't wait she actually left!! So if you feel like wasting your time you got nothing better else to do this is the place to go!!! Stopped at Zing for the first time yesterday as we were looking for a good coffee, a small lunch, and space and time to talk. What a nice find! The iced and hot lattes were good quality, and the meatless sandwich was oh so tasty! Seating is around a small (what seems like) lobby of a once nicely architectures (possibly) apartment building upstairs? Or a hotel at one time. This lovely building on Adeline across from BART has only outside dining right now but seating was comfortable and the food was brought out to our table. Food was pretty good but service was very slow and it wasn't that busy. The two men working said they were having issues with their equipment. It took them about 14 minutes to take our order and then about 35 minutes before or sandwiches came out. They were apologetic and did give us some cans of sparkling water. read more

I Kinda didn't want to leave a review because it's my own little secret getaway from work and a five star review would bring more people. However they deserve a five star review. It's a small cozy café and I like how it used to be an old church. I tend to get something to eat from you like a croissant door grilled cheese or a little piece of pastry. A gem worth visiting :^). Ordered the turkey pesto panini, the italian panini, and the house coffee with 2 pumps of sugar free white chocolate syrup and a splash of almond milk. The sandwiches were straight up delicious in a no-fuss way and loaded with flavorful and fresh ingredients. Each bite was filled with several layers of meats/veggies/sauces and it left me feeling super happy and satisfied. I preferred the turkey pesto because I'm a pesto fiend but my boyfriend liked the italian panini better (he said it tasted like "elevated subway sandwich in the best way"). I also thought the coffee was amaaazing. Tbh I usually play it safe by going to starbucks or peets for my coffee order but the drink I got from Zing Cafe was outstanding and one of the best coffees I've had in a while. Located right next to Ashby BART station, this counter service cafe serves paninis, small breakfast items, desserts, and a slew of caffeinated beverages. I am not generally a sandwich person, but the turkey pesto panini was delicious! Quite possibly the best turkey I've ever had. It was such a wonderful blend of pesto, cheese, and meat. And the bread was grilled to perfection. If you don't like raw onions, you can request them grilled like j did. My boyfriend got the Italian panini, which he really enjoyed as well. I got the Thai iced tea and love that they give you different milk options. I got almond milk in mine, which was great. As mentioned, the service is terrific. Zing café is a cute little café with a selection of lunch items and snacks right across from the Ashby Bart. I am not a coffee aficionado so I will not comment on their coffee, (although to me it tasted pretty good). I have been there twice, once to sit and study for a little while and another time to grab a quick bite before I got on bart. For studying there are many better cafes in the area as there is not a lot of space, and most of the seating is outdoors, but even then there aren't that many chairs and they are not really comfortable. As a place for lunch before heading out there are better options near by. My sandwich was unfortunately not very appetizing and the Berkeley Bowl is not that far away. For grabbing a quick and tasty coffee I can see the value in Zing Café, however I did not see that value in my visits. read more

Yet you shell out hundreds of dollars to these folks. Zing café, owned by some of the nicest people that I know. These are ex neighbors of mine I lived near for two years and I've watched them work very hard to get zing up and running and since they have had it up and running they have been providing the best service that I've gotten anywhere in such a long time that I can't remember. You will find, I believe mostly negative reviews on sites such as these. You know! People are a lot faster to express what they don't like than they are to give props where props are due. The folks at Zing have the perfect recipe: honesty, sincerely awesome customer service, and a great product. Let's remember that it's the small business people that make this country. Monday morning lunch went into this cute cafe right next to the Ashby BART station on Adeline. I ordered a pastrami melt and an Americano. The Pastrami melt on whole wheat was decisions he onions were crisp and unlike other shops weren't concentrated on one part of the sand which. They also weren't too chunky so not overpowering the same which, same thing goes for the sauerkraut, didn't notice it was there till I was done. The Americano was brewed just right. Yesterday I waited and waited, and the server kept saying i'll be right with you.
