LONG STORY SHORT: Zimbrick completely tried to rip off my brother and lied about what work needs to be done on his car. They made him think the car was unsafe to drive, so he did not have a vehicle to drive for two weeks, only to find out there was nothing wrong with his car. This is a review posted for my brother's experience specifically at the Zimbrick Honda dealership's service center on Grand Canyon Drive. AVOID THIS SERVICE CENTER AT ALL COSTS!! They are dishonest about what work your car needs, and they will try to rip you off completely. My brother was told by the Zimbrick sevice center that his car was leaking transmission fluid from the axle seals. They also mentioned that his air intake hose was about to tear, and it needed to be replaced immediately. Both of these were strange findings as his car is not that old and has relatively low mileage. So, he took the car to Goodyear (on 608 Washington Ave.) to get another quote and a second look. Zimbrick quoted him for $840 for the transmission fluid issues, while the folks at Goodyear quoted him for literally HALF the cost. However, they also said they couldn't find a leak. Apparently, his car's seals were totally fine. As for the air intake hose, Goodyear found that it's only slightly worn from weather and time, but it still looked fine. The mechanic at Goodyear said they wouldn't recommend my brother to go out of his way to replace it until a light comes on for it on the dashboard of the car Overcharging is standard for dealerships, so that's to be expected, but it is totally unacceptable to tell customers that urgent service must be completed when there are zero problems. Zimbrick inconvenienced my brother for two weeks because he couldn't drive his car during that time, and it turns out it was all a lie! BONUS ADVICE: Seriously, go to the Goodyear on 608 Washington Ave. when you need stuff done for your car. They're so honest and they're such standup people there. They went one step further after checking over my brother's car to say that they weren't comfortable charging him with anything because no services needed to be done. They didn't even charge my brother for the part they ordered because they will just send it back for him at no cost. How amazing is that, right?! read more

If I could give zero reviews I would. No one in the service shop knows what they're talking about even though they claim that they've " been mechanics for over 20 years." that was told to me multiple times. They were trying to charge me $1000 right during Christmas time for a brand new caliper when I just needed a brake pad change because they said my caliper was seized and they weren't then able to get to the brake pad. First they told me they couldn't fix it, then hours later they randomly said that they could, but they needed all these extra parts... it seemed super sketchy and scammy and I was right because I brought it home and my friend was able to do the same work and take the caliper out for $40.. I also want to add the caliper was definitely NOT seized and they were just trying to get me to buy an entire new one and I would've not had a vehicle for five days..absolutely crazy. I'm glad I went with my gut because they 100% were trying to take advantage of me not knowing much about cars. Instead of trying to fix things, they'll just replace things and it cost triple what it actually should cost. They also had all these odd excuses and when I asked if they could just unsieze the caliper or if they even tried to do that, they basically didn't know what to say because they didn't know that I knew that was even an option. After I called the service advisor Stephen out because I felt like I was getting scammed and they were just trying to charge me extra to replace things that didn't need to be replaced and I said there were other things to try, he told me he was "done dealing with my car." super unprofessional and none of it seemed honest at all. Kind of scary if you ask me because someone who doesn't know anything about cars would've definitely just agreed to everything. Again, I had my caliper removed and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it whatsoever. It even looked brand new and they were trying to get me to pay $700 for another one. I recommend avoiding Zimbrick's Service Center - This dealership is running a scam. We took our new car in for service and it was returned to us with a noticeable ding in the left side door. The car was less than a year old and although they gave us the information the person who hit our door, she denied that she did the damage and the dealership refuses to take responsibility for the damage, even though they acknowledge that the damage occurred while in their possession. They quoted us $1,500+ to repair the damage and put a new coat of paint on. Everything about this reeks of a scam run by then to bilk another $1500 out of us for damage they did to our car. After many unreturned voicemails, we are still waiting to hear back from them on how they are willing to resolve this. This happened over 2 months ago. read more

In 2020 I got new tires and then stopped driving very much, so I pretty much ignored my CRV for a year. I went to Zimbrick to get everything checked out and to check alignment and filters, oil, etc. I had the best service from Tom S. -- he was wonderful and didn't try to sell me into things I didn't need. He was upfront with me about the issues with my car and how urgent fixing them would be. They found a transmission issue that needed to be corrected ASAP so I'm glad I was there! I created a weekend appointment because weekdays don't work for me. After getting my car serviced, I was told no one knew how to run the Zimbrick Honda gift card I was attempting to pay with. After 35 minutes of waiting while Izzy and then Mike tried to run my card, Mike let me leave. He asked me to come back and pay later when someone who knew how to run gift cards could help. I explained that I do not have weekday time to come back, hence I created a weekend appointment. He agreed it could be handled over the phone and said someone would be in contact Monday. On Tuesday, Laurie called and was beyond rude and unapologetic. I spoke to the manager, Tom, who was wonderful and was equally disappointed by the encounters. Saw a VW Golf on Car Gurus and decided to see what I could do with Zimbrick Honda who listed the vehicle. They came back with a 20 percent interest rate on a loan and said no other options were available. the car was a 2018 with 40k miles and was listed at $22,000. I said no way. Finance person made no effort to see what else they could do or even offer alternatives or try to save the sale. Later that day I found a 2017 VW Golf GTI down in the Chicago area with only 29,000 miles and was listed at 22,800, it was in near mint condition - they worked with me and were very friendly and got a 8.9% rate with Ally Bank. This was my third purchase from Zimbrick - I had previously purchased a new BMW 3 series, a new Civic Sport, and this vehicle - a new Civic Touring. The car was for my son. We bought it on Monday 6/10/24 around 5pm. My son forgot to bring the spare key for the Civic Sport, so he was bringing it in on Tuesday after work. Tuesday morning he noticed that the back seat of the brand new Civic Touring was damaged. It appeared as though something heavy was on the seat and it pushed the seat belts into the leather, stretching it beyond repair and also stretched the seat belt to the point it was a safety issue. My son brought this to their attention when he was giving them the key - less than 24 hours after buying the car. After a lot of run around and the General Manager telling me it was my problem for not inspecting the car properly, they replaced the back seat and put in two new seat belts. When I say run around, they literally ghosted me. I kept calling repeatedly until I was put through to Reggie, the General Manager. He stated that it was my fault for not noticing the issue. I told him that when he is stating this is a brand new car, i should be able to presume that it is in pristine condition. Nothing in the paperwork showed that there was damage to the back seat. He claimed they didn't notice it either. They were quite rude to us through the entire process. When my son picked up the car on 6/20/24, he told the service department how unhappy he was with the entire situation. The service person stated, "I'm not going to take any shit from you little buddy". Real professional. If there was any way I could have voided the sale, I would have. I will never go back to Zimbrick for any vehicles. What a disappointment! Even though they did fix the issue, I had to get pretty angry with them for it to happen. Avoid Zimbrick Honda. Just had some of the worst service ever there. Had booked an oil change, but when my husband went in, he was subject to a high-pressure upsell for additional services (that they didn't even perform all of - this might explain some of the information-hiding below). They gave him someone else's paperwork (!) when he left, which means our details went out with someone else, so that's a concern. And they didn't give us any details on the inspection that cost an additional $80. When we returned to get the right documents, all the weasel service guy wanted to do was tell us at length how none of this was his fault. No apology for our time wasted on the return trip, and he tried to get rid of us, still without the full set of paperwork. Horrible, horrible experience. We had a similar pressure upsell last time we were there for service, but we thought we'd give them one more chance. I feel foolish for even thinking they would have changed their stripes. read more

this review is for the fish hatchery service dept. honestly zero star for service and disappointed beyond belief! first off we purchaed our honda accord` here new with "all" the extra warranties and gap insurrance vehicle only over a yer old. the right rear tire blew out on the highway while going to work in the AM. stranded on the highway and late for work. had the vehicle is tow to the purchasing retailer zimbrick honda on fish hatch for tire repair which we didnt think nothing of because we had purchase the warranty for tire repair or replace and tow assistance through zimbrick. long story short. turns out... between the tech, service writer and warranty company they will not reimburst for tire. we payed for the bill because we needed the vehicle and would disbute later. i called the warrant company directly and after a week of phone tagging with zimbrick and the warranty company i got the reimburstment which zimbrick honda service could not accomplish. im extremely dissatisfied and disappointed at zimbrick honda service for not handling this right. the service writer told me if the warranty company would reimburst me that it would very easy for him process, which was not case because the bill was already paid. the service writer also said i went above and beyond what i should have done in this situation and that should not have call the warranty company. well he was right i should not have to call them... he should have! *if we knew service was this incompetence we would not have bought the warranties or the vehicle through zimbrick honda. *on a brighter note... there is one service writer on the grande cannon location that is excellent and his name is michael. so five star for michael. but still pretty upset over what happened. *if we had not purchase the warranty at zimbrick i would have taken our vehicle else where for service! read more

This review is about a salesperson named Rene. I made an appointment to come in and was ready to buy a car. I had a trade in and asked for an appraisal. He wanted to know how much I owed on the car. I honestly didn't know but I said just quote me a price for the trade. He gave me the keys to a CRV and let me take it for a test drive while he secured the appraisal. He didn't accompany me. No customer service at all. I returned about 15 minutes later. He again asked what I owed for the car. I again advised him to give me the trade value on my car. I waited another 5 minutes and he came back saying could we contact my spouse or wait for her to come and get the payout on my car. I decided to leave and go somewhere else. I asked for my keys and he said he needed to speak with his manager. To give me back my keys? I insisted and he returned minutes later. I never received the trade in value or any price info on the car I was interested in. All of this happened on a Tuesday. I wasted an hour and a half there I went to two other dealers that day and I received trade in value within 10 minutes. I went to Rock Honda in Janesville the following day. My wife and were taken for a test drive with a sales rep who explained everything about the CRV and talked us through comparisons with the Ford Escape Titanium which we were also seriously considering. After a tough decision we chose the CRV and bought it from Rock Honda in Janesville. I started out at Zimbrick because I had been a previous customer with another vehicle make and had been treated as a valued customer for years of service. Rene threw all of that good will out the window. I will also mention that I have a Spanish surname and my original Zimbrick appointment was with someone else that day. They switched me up to Rene. He tried to engage me as a Spanish speaker. Not necessary Zimbrick. I suggest you wait for customers to ask for Spanish speaking assistance instead of making assumptions. Rene followed up on Friday, three days later and I told him I bought a car from Rock Honda. I voiced my displeasure at his sales tactics, a throwback to the 60's and 70's of greater dealer dishonesty. I told him I'd be writing to Zimbrick about him. I did. No word yet. read more

I lease through Honda, and I woke up one morning to find my battery dead in my Civic. After jump starting it I tried to hastily call Wilde East Town Honda, which had been servicing my car for a year or so. The woman who answered the phone told me it wouldn't be possible for me to get in that day for a battery check, and was very short with me on the phone. After I pressed the matter further she told me she would have the manager of their service department call me back. He never did (until the next day, which was too late), so I ended up calling Zimbrick, a dealer I had never been to before. The man on the phone was very friendly and said to stop on by right away and they would take a look at it. I was there for less than 15 minutes when he came and gave me a full report on my battery and reassured me that everything was in good working order. I was willing to pay them for their time, but he said it wasn't necessary and sent me on my way. I was so relieved with the service and friendliness of the staff that I decided when my lease ended a couple months later, Zimbrick is where I would get a new car. The staff in the sales department were just as helpful as those in the service department. They made renewing my lease and finding a new car so easy! They even went out of their way and worked with me to help keep my monthly payments low. I would highly recommend them, especially Alex & Randy! Since then I have had only positive experiences. They offer a walk-in service for oil changes/tire rotations, and their waiting area is comfortable and has refreshments, including an espresso machine. We had been buying our cars from Zimbrick for 20 years. In fact, being from Madison, all of my extended family also bought their cars from Zimbrick. My husband and I went to Zimbrick with my Mom to shop for a new CRV. Obviously we wanted the best deal and she wanted to buy the touring edition. We got matched up with Don M. and he took us to view the touring that they had, but was not ready to be test driven. My mom was pretty much sold on this car as is, but there have been a lot of advancements in technology in the last 15 years (her other CRV was a 99) and that was our primary concern. My husband and I rode in the backseat and we would try to talk to my mom and ask questions that we thought were relevant to her because Don M. was indeed a sales person. By that, I mean he spouted off a bunch of features of the car (that we had already read about online) and then rearranged the numbers in such a way that she was confused. After we drove the car, we went and sat down with Don at his desk. Funny enough, my aunt and uncle were working with the sales person right next to us buying a Civic. No, I wasn't kidding about all of my family buying cars from Zimbrick. We used to buy from someone there that we all knew and trusted, but he has since retired. Don M. was giving my mom all of these numbers and I asked him for a piece of paper. I began to write down everything - sticker price, delivery fee, "upgrades" (He had said that the splash guards were included in all CRVs, but what that means is that they're pre-attached to the car and they charge you for them, not that they're part of the vehicle package.), discount off the car, taxes/title, etc. I asked him to verify the numbers on the paper, and he did, and then my husband and I had to leave to go run another errand. When we met up with my mom not too long after, she showed me the yellow pre-purchasing agreement that she had filled out with Don M. after we left and none of the numbers matched up to what I had written on the other paper, which Don had verified, and it seemed extremely dishonest. Don M. wasn't upfront with my mom about the pricing and what he gave us while we were there, and what he gave my mom after we left, did not match up. After this, we called Wilde over in Sun Prairie. We asked if they had a Honda CRV Touring in Black (they did), if they would give us X price (several hundred dollars less than Zimbrick), and they would. One hour later we bought the exact same car from Wilde at a price that was $700 less than Zimbrick's with exponentially better service. I'm disappointed in Zimbrick as my immediately family has purchased over 10 cars with Zimbrick since 1999, but with the way that they treated her, we have no loyalty to Zimbrick now and will no longer look at them as our default place to purchase cars. read more

Had my car serviced for oil change and brake service. Was able to request appt online. Staff were friendly and helpful and completed service quickly. Waiting room has great amenities--wi-fi, free juice, water, and granola bars, kid's area. Compared to other dealerships, there is very little pressure to try to get you into other service "packages" which are usually unnecessary and expensive compared to the required service in your owner's manual. Service consultant did ask me about scheduling a timing belt replacement, which is a major service and not necessary for me at the time, so I politely declined. Consultant offered a complimentary car wash without me asking. Very good overall. read more

I bought my Civic from Zimbrick four years ago and have taken it here for service ever since. Until today, I had excellent service and the rewards program is what kept me coming back for oil changes even though I paid more than I could have elsewhere. Today I was a walk-in oil change/tire rotation. They were busy but assured me I could be out in 45 minutes. If they'd quoted me longer, I would have come back a different day, as I realize I didn't have an appointment. I waited in the waiting room -- with my three month old baby -- for an hour and a half. Finally they came and got me, stating that my paperwork had been accidentally left on someone else's desk when someone went to lunch. The technician apologized but did not go over the inspection sheet with me like they normally do. Then I got out to my car and it wasn't even washed! If I'm going to pay $45 for an oil change and tire rotation, I at least expect my courtesy wash, especially with these terrible salty winter roads. I was late for my next commitment and my baby was hungry at this point. My vehicle is seven years old and I don't need to be taking it to a dealer for service anymore. This was the tipping point. When i lived in Iowa, i drove the 4 hours to get one of the last civics with navigation. After we negotiated a price, they took off the wheels that was supposed to come with the package and gave me the cheap wheels. Make sure you are getting the package you are paying for, cause if you find out too late, there is nothing you can do. Oh yea, dont use the Internet Sales team, their only job is to get you in the door, not sell you anything. Everything else about the car and dealership is nice, but that shady deal scares me about other schemes they might pull. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE going here for work on my car! Rather than an icky oil-smelling waiting area, you are treated like royalty. The waiting area has cold beverages, coffee, cookies, crossword and sudoku puzzles, and a television, as well as a separate room for children with a play area and video games and toys. The experience of waiting for your car here is sooo much more enjoyable. All of the staff is super friendly and they explain things really well. I never once felt like they tried to take advantage of my lack of car knowledge by trying to get me to buy unnecessary parts and services. They will set up transportation for you if you are unable to get to the shop or if you need to be taken home from the shop while your car is in service, so you feel very taken care of. They drove it all the way to me. They had to deal with beltline traffic and still came to with a smile. They recommended maintenance deals. Everything from 4 oil changes over two years for $70.
