The best video game stores in town! My girlfriend and I came here looking for a new part for her wii, and they were the only place that had it. They have all kinds of old games and parts that no other stores carry. And the service there is amazing! I bought wii sports resort from there, and after taking it home, I realized a part was missing. It was 5:45, so I called the store asking if they had the part that I needed for the game. The worker said yes and offered to wait there extra for me despite them closing at 6 just so I could buy it. He was the best! I would give this place 6 stars out of 5 if I could. Store is so dirty with cobwebs across the store with a weird smell. Their game prices are insane selling a 16$ game for 60$ and a 20$ for 40$. I went in to try to sell some pokemon cards. About 15-20 mid era cards the most notable being the Mewtwo and mew Tag team gx promo worth around 300 at the time. I came in and it was super dirty and cluttered. Cobwebs and boxes overflowing everywhere. Their pokemon guy said he could look at the cards and price them out for me but only priced the top three cards I had and said "The rest of those cards I have at $5 each." Some were $5 but most of them weren't I had IRs and rainbow gx cards in there. He also actively looked for the lowest sold for my Mewtwo and mew Gx card and told me the best he would do is $100. Everything else added up to $90 so he told me I could have $190. I didn't accept and later sold the exact same cards to another shop for $420. Ziggy himself is very nice but their Pokemon guy, I believe his name is Jayden is a scammer. The last thing I have to say is that he tried charging me $300 for a Perfect Order booster box because he said "Any packs less than $10 is a deal." I'd like to say for all the negative comments on here, they sure don't add up to what I have experienced growing up in Turlock. Ziggy'z does not deserve the negativity. I have not had a bad experience going in at all, yes I'd have to go back to get a disc cleaned up once or twice but after that the game works. And on top of that the service is not bad. Hundreds of games that haven't been cleaned,tested, or otherwise. Smells terrible even though multiple candles have been lit to try and mask the decrepit smell and atmosphere. In addition, they scam you because when you sell games and consoles, you get ripped off in every way which is buying selling and trading. You're best best bet is to use Offerup or Facebook Market. This place sucks! My son broke a headphone jack in his Nintendo Switch. Called and was quoted $100 for repair. Upon dropping off was asked for a $20 deposit and was told repair was now $120. I asked if we could have back within 3 days as we were heading in a vacation trip. Was told "NO PROBLEM! We can have this done possibly by the next day or 2 days at the latest!" Called the next day for an update on repair was told the repair guy wasn't there. Called the 2nd day was now told the repair was $140, as it is now a "rush order".... Went to pickup repair and now the bill was $160. Asked for $20 deposit back and was told nope that's our too! Then they "alleged" the screen was broken (which it absolutely wasn't) and that was the excuse for the increase. They recommended a screen protector from Amazon. Funny cause my wife showed them our order history from Amazon and it was the EXACT one they recommended. Laughable.... The $20 deposit should be called a diagnostic fee if you don't return it. Also, I'm sure a new screen is more expensive than the $20 they kept, or even better yet probably more expensive than the daily increase they kept changing. On my original review the owner responded with I'm lying and slandered my wife and kids. Great professionalism along with the terrible customer service. The store is an absolute rats nest, my 4 year old has better cleanliness standards and better business acumen than these clowns. I will never give these trash hoarders the opportunity to earn my business back. I'll mail my systems out of state for repair before I enter this dusty, smelly outhouse ever again. You can have the $180 along with your slanderous comments about my family. You can have your 2 star rating and reputation that you worked hard for. My first time visiting Ziggy's Video Games with my family. Was looking for a gamecube controller for my son, they had new and pre-owned controllers for good prices. Customer service was very friendly and helpful, my son is a huge Pokemon fan and they gave him 4 booster packs for free, he was definitely geeking out and was excited when he got one of his favorite Pokémon holographic card Gengar. Today at Turlock's Comicon, I had an experience with a young man who is an employee of Ziggy's in Turlock. I had a copy of Ocarina Of Time for N64. It looked like it was in too good to be true condition, so the first thing I asked was if it was real, or a repro. There are a lot of counterfeit classic games out there and I'm not too great at spotting them yet. He assures me it is real, that his boss put it in the "real" box (as opposed to the fake box I guess) and he would know the difference. Also, if I didn't like the game, I could exchange it as long as their little sticker on the back was intact. I didn't notice at the time, that the sticker covered one of the screws necessary to open the game, which would be the easiest way to spot a fake. So I bought it for $40. I took it home, took a couple pictures of the game and uploaded them to a Facebook group for N64 collectors to get opinions on the game. One after another responded "fake" "repro" "obvious fake." They said I got scammed. They commented on the sticker thing, saying that was part of the scam, can't check the authenticity without breaking the sticker. One suggested that I contact the Comicon organizers to report them, which I have. Anyways, I went all the way back there, and the guy very slowly and reluctantly gives me my money back, while sort of hiding the game behind something else so others wouldn't be able to know which one was fake. It was extremely shady. So I check the 20 dollars bills the guy gave me to make sure they're real, and make a half joking comment about the bills. This dude aggressively tells me "well if you're going to be rude about it, I can take the money back and have to kicked out of here." I'm not sure how he planned on "taking the money back" but it feels like a threat. So I let him know that I would do everything in my power to not let them keep scamming people like that. I wonder how many have been scammed by their company so far? I mean, you represent yourself as someone who should be knowledgeable about these things, but really you'll sell a counterfeit item to anybody and claim it's real, there's no honor there. I like this place, its been a while since I've gone since i don't live in town and its hard to get in during the hours. They have had many games i wanted in the past and always have great games in generally with a huge array of games and consoles. Owner is cool and conversational. people complaining about it being small and other such nonsense should order online and stop complaining. Some games can be a bit pricey but to be able to get it up front and not deal with shipping plus actually seeing what you get it worth it. All in all, I like the place. read more

I haven't seen any real cohearent reviews about this place, so I thought I'd be the first one. I was really hesitant to come here at first. Odd location in Turlock, parking isn't that great. And Psuedo videogame/anime art on the walls, with the front door barely even visible because its covered by hand written advertisements. But whatever, I'm from Modesto so sketchy looking business is part of our blood lol. The place has a decent selection of pre-PS3 Era games, priced meh-to-ok. Console pricing was a bit on the more expensive side, esp for the older ones like the Turbo Graphics 16. But, he does have some some of the rarities like Legend of the Dragoon for the PS1, every Final Fantasy you can think of from GB to PS4. I was more interested the PS2 selection though, priced at around $10 per game. One major prop I have to give the store is the game is inside the cases, so you can check the condition of the disks before you buy them -- which leads me to tell YOU to check the disks before you buy them. I talked to the owner for a while , asking him about pricing and stuff. He seems like a reasonable person then what yelpers are making him out to be. I wasn't really a fan of judging someone based off of what you read online, and I feel like he's a pretty down to own man. I mean as long as you have a general respect for other people, you'll be fine. A lot of the negative reviews seem like they were written out of spite rather than giving other yelpers a detailed tack on their experience. Anyways, I did end up buying a few ps2 games there though. They were a bit more expensive then buying them online, but it was fairly marginal. The added benefit of instant gratification rather than buying online is real. A lot of the titles I purchased from him were CIB, so I didn't mind paying an extra 3 or 4 dollars than I normally would on ebay. Like i said, you literally get it here and now, and you get to see what you are getting! Now for the negative parts of my experience. The store is a little small, and there's hardly any room for more than 2 people to browse the same section. It's a little cramped, and overall the lay out of the store is a little messy. Behind the counter, there's a plethora of loose cables, random boxes and advertisements. Oddly enough there's some kind of exotic bird back there that has that "smell". It's not putrid bad that I'd throw up, but I do notice it enough to knock out one star. I think there are more positive points to the store than bad and I think you should at least check the place out yourself to formulate your own review. If i had advice to the owner that I can freely give is to organize and clean the place. Maybe consider making more walking room as it can get pretty cramped. The middle section of products can probably be removed in favor of a more open environment. read more

Ziggy's is one of those weird little hole in the wall stores that just makes you wonder how they stay in business. Honestly this is so different than your standard Gamestop or Hollywood video that i really thought it was cool at first. There are a couple of exotic birds behind the counters, old photos of wrestlers pinned up on a wall and the place is a smorgasbord of old (sometimes cool) crap. But first impressions can be deceiving. The place is absolutely filthy and filled with consoles and controllers that either don't work (ie. Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis) or empty boxes used to house old consoles (ie. Nintendo, Sega CD). Nothing like being teased with stuff you can't buy;). If you go there bring some latex gloves;). I've been in a lot of video game stores and this one wins the Gold Award for dirtiest little hole in the wall hands down! Most of the games are behind the counter in cases and i think i actually pissed off the owner because i had the "nerve" to want to thumb thru the cds to see what they were. I did buy a few games but the owner, who appears to be Native American was such a jerk that it's not worth my time. I'd rather shop at place that values my business. read more

Ugh, why is this place still open? I've lived in Turlock my whole life, and most of the time, close to this store. Meaning that, occassionally, I tend to pass by this store. It always caught my eye, you know? Cool drawings on the walls, looks like they put effort into it, looks old but gold. Well, this store is life's greatest illusion. You see all this stuff, you think that it might be fun to go there. And it seems like a good idea until you get there. This store's hours are odd. It opens at 12 PM most days, and while I can't remember when it closes, I'm sure it doesn't stay open long past that. I came in and I saw a few other people there, browsing for old Playstation games. I came to find a few old Xbox games, since I recently picked one up at a yard sale, and lo and behold, the entire game shelf was absolute junk. Nothing to even write home about, every game was just.. Junk. Boxes with labels from Gamestop on them everywhere. What ticked me off most was the prices. Sure, old games drop in value after a few years and then they pick up again if they're classics, but really.. 10-20 dollars for a beat up Xbox game that probably doesn't work? What really got me was the fact that a lot of the boxes had old Gamestop prices, most saying that someone picked it up for 5 bucks at Gamestop, but you HAVE to pay 15 at Ziggy's. Maybe I shouldn't complain about prices as much, but the condition they were in? Phew, looked like they were picked out of a trash can and set on shelves with no real cleaning. The owner was rude. Pretentious, even. He had the "my store, my rules" kinda attitude, which doesn't make me respect him as much as it annoys me. I came to this run down, beaten up store that smells like an old rat cage to give you MONEY. For games that I can find on Amazon for 3 dollars. No, really, I asked for some old PS1 games that I was looking for as well. 20 dollars for a used and beat up copy of Metal Gear Solid when I can easily find it for 10 bucks in a way better condition anywhere online. In the back of the left hand corner is a stack of old consoles. All look like they've been personally spit on by a crowd of chewing tobacco users. And what's sad is that most consoles run for around 75 dollars for good ol' Ziggy, even though you can pick up a shiny and taken care of NES at your local flea market for 5 bucks. That being said, by the condition that they were all stored in, I can nearly guarantee that most didn't work. Ziggy would most likely offer you a repair job on your recently bought heap of trash console for an extra 50 bucks. As I walked out of the store, it hit me why the store has such bad hours. I'm fairly sure Ziggy works day and night at other places just to keep his store open. And by the way he's treated other customers on here, I'm sure it's because he has no room for the collection of junk he has in his store in his own house. Walking out, it's almost unbelievable how deceiving this store was. You walk in and see newspapers talking about how Ziggy has one of the best game stores around. And it would be one of the best game stores around if all other game stores went out of business. All in all, come here to sell old games you found in a parking lot for a few bucks. Who cares if the games you sell him work? Pretty sure none of the games Ziggy sells work either. My advice? Stay away. I'd rather pay triple of Ziggy's prices than to ever set foot in that place again. If you ever do decide to go there, check for fleas once you get home. read more

Ziggy has never lead me wrong. He has always been as kind as can be to me. Despite what other customers say, I have never purchased a broke, or 'unusable' item from Ziggy's. In fact, If Ziggy doesn't have an item for me, when he gets it in, not only will he call me, but he'll hold it for me. I personally go to Ziggy when I can't find a game, or i'm looking for something older that stores like Gamestop simply doesn't carry anymore. Perhaps the 'rude' behavior has nothing to do with the owner, and everything to do with the 'customers' who have left previous reviews. With small businesses like this, you get the amount of respect that you give. And from looking at the previous reviews, I bet that was slim.
