This was my second visit with Dr Czyrny (pronounced "Churny" if you ever need an appointment). If…read moreyou've ever had a nerve conduction study, you're probably cringing at the thought of having to have TWO of them done. But hang with me. The first time I saw Dr. Czyrny was before I had a spinal fusion surgery. My orthopedic surgeon sent me here prior to cutting into me. I didn't know what to expect and really didn't do any homework ahead of time. My ortho told me that I'd feel some "tingling" and some "slight shocking" feelings, but that was it. It honestly didn't sound too bad. I've got a few tattoos, so needles don't exactly scare me. I wish I could tell you more about that initial appointment, but I really don't remember that much about it. It was in 2015. Nothing really stands out. After a car accident in 2017, my shoulder specialist sent me to see Dr. Czyrny for a nerve conduction study because I was complaining of some shoulder pain that sounded a lot like a torn rotator cuff. He did some X-rays, an MRI, and then felt the nerve conduction study was important. I knew I had been before, but had forgotten what kind of adventure I was in for, so I did some homework this time. Holy crap! To say this scared the pants off me is an understatement! I watched videos and read reviews that had me so scared that I was ready to call the whole thing off. However, the morning of my appointment, I found my biggest & brightest pair of big girl undies and went into that appointment expecting a horrifying experience, but knowing I'd live to tell about it. As I sat in the waiting room, a calm feeling came over me when I started to think logically. This nerve conduction study was something I had done before. This procedure didn't stand out in my mind in any way. It didn't stand out as being awful or as being incredibly painful. It didn't stand out as being anything. That made me realize that it probably wasn't going to be so bad. When my name was called and I went back to the procedure room, Dr. Czyrny eased my fears pretty instantly. He didn't necessarily recognize my face, but he did know my name and he knew he had done the study on me before. He asked me if I had any questions, and I told him I didn't really remember the first experience. He said, "Well, that means either it isn't as bad as people say it is or maybe I am actually skilled at this after all!" We both chuckled at his joke, and he had me sit on the table while he began with the needles. I felt literally almost nothing. Remember when you were a kid in the '70s and you'd shuffle your socked feet across the shag carpet? Then you'd go find your little brother and touch him, both of you screaming for just a second during that quick electric shock? No? Was that just me? Well, this was less than that. Dr. Czyrny really is skilled at what he does, and while he had to go up and down both arms, I had no problems sitting like a champ for the procedure. I didn't need my big girl undies after all. I could most definitely have done just fine with little girl undies. Certainly no need for granny panties! So if you're having a nerve conduction study and you're scared out of your wits, I'm not going to guarantee that the procedure won't hurt at all. But I will tell you that if you have that study done with Dr. Czyrny, it'll be a breeze! (Still, you should probably wear some underwear.)

I have a chronic, degenerative back condition, failed surgical syndrome, and a list of other conditions that are very painful to me. On the pain scale of 1-10 my pain was a 10. I was screaming and crying in my bed in pain before Dr. Gosy. I could not move. I could not do anything. I was contemplating suicide because the pain was horrific. The first thing he said was to stop crying because crying was only making things worse. He said we need to work together. I need to be 100% compliant with his regime. I need to communicate with him if I don't like the way a medication makes me feel. He said pain management was not intended to turn people into zombies. Dr. Gosy made a dream come true. I was able to attend my son's Bar Mitzvah on 5/2/2015. I was able to stand on the Bimah (altar) with him. I helped his father put his tallis (prayer shawl) on him. I touched the Torah. Come with me to one of the places I spend a LOT of time at... DENT Neurologic Institute in Amherst,…read moreNew York, right on Sheridan Drive. This is the DENT Tower, and if you're like me and have multiple doctors, multiple appointments, and approximately seventeen million reasons to be in a medical building... this place is basically my second home. Today I'm here for my yearly checkup with my neurologist. My doctor does my Botox injections and my trigger point injections, and actually, I'll be back here in just THREE DAYS for another appointment to get my Botox for migraines. Because apparently my head has decided it would like to be a full-time problem. ‍ One thing I really appreciate about DENT is that there are so many different services and specialists all in one building. I have doctors on multiple floors, so depending on the appointment, I'm basically riding the elevators like I work here. And yes, the building is wheelchair accessible, which is really important to me. Getting around a large medical building can be difficult enough without having to worry about whether you're actually going to be able to access the places you need to go. Now, I did bring my very important medical assistant with me today... Her name is Bambi. She is also apparently the Director of Atmospheric Changes. Because while I was trying to have a serious medical appointment... Bambi farted. Not a little toot. A FART. And the look on her face was basically, "I have no idea what you're talking about." Girl. I KNOW IT WAS YOU. So if you hear me laughing or see Bambi looking completely innocent in this video, just know there was an incident. Anyway, outside the building you'll see another part of my DENT experience, which is the Infusion Center. When my migraines won't go away and I need more aggressive treatment, I've been able to come here for migraine infusions. There are infusion services on two floors, so this is another really important part of my care. And I wanted to show this because DENT isn't just one doctor's office. It's a whole neurologic institute with different specialties and services throughout the building. And right here in between the infusion center and DENT, you'll also find a WellNow Urgent Care, which is convenient if you need urgent care while you're already in the area. So basically, this little stretch of Sheridan Drive has become one of my regular medical stops. Overall, I've had a lot of experience with DENT, and I really appreciate having access to neurologists and migraine treatment all in one place. If you're someone who deals with chronic migraines or other neurological issues, this is definitely a place you may want to look into. DENT Neurologic Institute is located at 3980 Sheridan Drive in Amherst. Full video is

I was apprehensive, as spinal surgery is always risky and can often times make the problem worse, but my experience at Axis made me feel a lot better. I was able to get in to see the surgeon rather quickly (after only a week or two of calling to schedule an appointment). I was pleased with this, as I went to a spinal specialist for injections and it took them 2 months before they saw me, then it took another month and a half for them to even give me any treatment. First I met with Dr. Denhaese's physician's assistant, Joseph who was absolutely wonderful. He was kind and he took an extensive history of my injury. After a few minutes, he went to get the doctor and he came in. The doctor looked at my MRIs and knew immediately what my problem was. He explained in detail about my injury and what it involved. He told me I was the prime candidate for surgery and the next available spot was 6 weeks later (this was because of the backlog at the hospital for pre-op, and no fault of Axis at all). He told me the risk for the surgery was minimal and he would use a minimally invasive approach, so there would be less of a healing time. This calmed my fears and I was scheduled to have the surgery. I was pleased to find out that Dr. Denhaese operated at Kenmore Mercy. I have had nothing but positive experiences with the Catholic Health System and between Dr. Denhaese, his team, and the staff at Kenmore Mercy, I knew I would receive the best treatment. I am terrified of hospitals and needles and medical procedures, and the doctor and his team made sure those fears went away. Everything went smooth. Dr. Denhaese and his team offer excellent care. Dr. Denhaese and his physician assistants have excellent bedside manner, practice great empathy, and truly care about their patients. I highly recommend going through Axis if you need any type of spinal surgery.

Dr. Lewis is nothing short of a miracle worker…read more I was hesitant at first, reading some of the mixed reviews -- like many people, I was tempted to let a few negative ones sway my decision. But I'm here to tell you: don't let reviews make your choice when it comes to a neurosurgeon like Dr. Lewis. These specialists are in a league of their own -- incredibly intelligent, focused, and constantly pushing the boundaries of medical advancement to help patients like me. I've had several spinal surgeries over the years, and never -- never -- have I felt like this just days afterward. I'm not stuck in bed. I'm not in unbearable pain. In fact, I feel amazing -- sore, of course, but it's the kind of sore that tells you healing is happening. For the first time in years, I can feel my arms, my hands, and my fingers again. The constant pain that I thought I'd be stuck with forever is fading. That alone brings tears to my eyes. Dr. Lewis isn't going to sugarcoat things -- and that's okay. He's direct, efficient, and deeply knowledgeable. You're not going to get warm-and-fuzzy bedside stories. What you will get is a surgeon whose skill level is unmatched and whose work changes lives. He changed mine. So if you're reading reviews and second-guessing your next step, please trust a real patient who has been through it. Dr. Lewis is the real deal, and I am genuinely in disbelief at how incredible I feel, just days after surgery. I cannot thank him enough.

This review is for the pain department at Invision Health, specifically Dr. Salcedo. I have been…read moreutilizing the pain department ever since I became ill with my main chronic illness. I wasn't impressed with Dr. Salcedo in the first place because when he found out I have intense muscle pain in my neck, he suggested I get the nerves in it cauterized. Since that sounded incredibly invasive, I refused and then he passed me off to a PA who was brusque and dismissive. It seems that no one there is capable of empathy or concern for their patients. I ended up leaving the department a year ago because they were trying to get my money (over $200) so they could prescribe me medical marijuana, even though I already had a prescription from another provider! My PA became so pushy about it and I can afford little due to being on disability, so I decided to find another pain group. ECMC was helping me but the doctor I liked there retired. Around October of last year, a completely new disease started ruining my life. My baseline was already pain and fatigue, but the symptoms are on a whole new plane and present as a central nervous system disease. I was suffering, so I filled out paperwork again and made an appointment for Dr. Salcedo The visit was one of the most traumatic things I've gone through. My undiagnosed disease has been filled with terrible symptoms, like constant tremors. After answering questions, Dr. Salcedo told me he'd up the dose of my pain medication. He told me to stand up and complete an assessment. I get really dizzy from going from a sitting to standing position, so once I managed to stand, I held onto the chair and waited for the dizziness to stop. This is when Dr. Salcedo told me to come over to him from across the room, completely impatient even when I told him what was going on. He pushed and pulled on me while I became more faint. I asked, "give me a second, please," several times, but he was visibility frustrated his exam was taking so long. He intruded on my personal space because I wasn't going fast enough. Then, I got on the examining table and that's where things spiraled out of control. He had me lie on the table and stretched my muscles while he pressed his hand on my spine. He told me he couldn't examine me because of my limbs flailing about and even did a mean impression of me tremoring. He was roughly manhandling me, but then he did a stretch on my legs and my brain exploded with horrific pain. I screamed and begged, "Please please STOP!!!!" while he pressed hard on my spine and forced me into that excruciating position. I broke down into uncontrollable sobbing and continued saying NO. He looked at me coldly and snarled, "I have to finish my exam!!" He eventually stopped digging into my back and so I sat up, trying to get off the table. He shoved me down HARD and growled, "I'm not done yet!!" For the rest of the exam, I was sobbing. Hi finally sat me up and declared the exam over (the sharp pain in my legs thought otherwise for a week). He left the room and had said I needed a tox screen before he could give me the dosage I needed. I needed a few minutes before I did the urinalysis because my tears were blinding me. When I went to the waiting area still crying, I tried to tell my dad about the exam but I was too incoherent. I got called to checkout, where I was told I couldn't have a new appointment until the screen came back. But then, they said Dr. Salcedo was "suggesting" I see the psychologist there, who I'd seen and didn't like. He also had said I needed to get a second opinion from another neurologist, which I did. The next week, I contacted the staff to ask if my toxicology screen had come back and if I could start the new medication dosage. They replied, "You refused at Checkout to follow Dr. Salcedo's suggestions for you to see the therapist and get a second opinion from a neurologist, so the doctor will not prescribe your meds." I was (and still am) in horrible pain and would see anyone who'd help, even a guy who tortured me. Clearly, Salcedo had refused care. I was a number to order around in exchange for his unprofessionalism. The man has a God complex and, since his orders were not followed to the letter, he therefore withheld medication from me that would have alleviated my intense daily suffering. He has no semblance of a bedside manner or empathy and only is willing to help patients who blindly do whatever he tells them. I was a "difficult" patient because I had the audacity to be slow and a chronically ill woman with emotions. If my specialist for my baseline disease wasn't in this building, I wouldn't be willing to drive within a mile radius of the place. I feel so bad for the people he's actually willing to see. If you value your health, run. And if you can't run because of pain? Drive as fast and far away as you can...and definitely don't look back. I recommend this part of Invision Health to sadomasochists only.
