Room temperature pastures
Shari B.

My husband is Russian, so we were happy to see some familiar foods offered here. I didn't realize this location was just a cold food bar and some room temperature pastries. We tried the borscht, beet salad, olivie, pirojky, samsy, plov, kotletly. We enjoyed the soup, salads and pastries. I didn't care for the plov. It was oily and maybe it would taste better fresh.

This place deserve some love on Yelp and more attention! I love to try different cuisines which is a wonderful way to explore cultures. I don't really know much about jibek Jolu, but would love to find out more as their food are so delicious! I also don't know what I bought, they are savoury pastries, kinda like minced meat pies with soft flaky crispy exteriors. The flavors are deep and full of flavors. Absolutely love it. They are found inside Garden Fresh and I go there quite often so this is a great new addition to the neighborhood! The savoury pastries makes for great snacks and my children love them too!

As I had opportunity to try Russian food at a Russian household before, I will say this place is as close as you can get on good quality Russian/mid Asia food in this area. Very original and high quality. I always stop by and purchase something from her when I'm in the area. 10/10

I went yet again and brought home some beef jarovnya for dinner (cooked my own egg noodles to go with it). It was a little heavy on the dill, but very good overall. The beef was tender, and nice selection of veggies. I also got a slice of honey cake. It was heavenly! Light and creamy.

I was really looking forward to the food to the flavors to the magic. I was definitely disappointed everything took forever most of the food was cold the salads were dated. The shish kebabs were OK. My expectation of this place was way beyond what they delivered. I was looking for traditional European flavors that are on my mind in this place really did not bring it will have to try a different location and see if there's any difference.

Love this place. Can't say enough good things the location in Glynn Ellen has best menu. Was highly disappointed with Chicago location menu.

5/5 We had an incredible meal at Restaurant Chinor (Halal)!…read moreWe ordered the Uzbek plov, green tea, and samsa. The samsa came with an amazingly delicious sauce; even though the pastry felt like it might have been baked the day before, it was still so good that it doesn't change my 5-star rating at all. We also ordered a lot of plov and kazan kebab to take out. I haven't tried the kazan kebab yet, but it looks so tempting and delicious that I'm sure it will taste amazing too. Highly recommend! Good service Cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly staff. Will definitely come back! More parking lots, free parking

After a wonderful evening listening to an intimate concert by a Russian cellist at Arcada Theatre,…read moremy two Russian friends and I decided to have dinner at Chinor. What a fantastic choice! Even better, it's only a few blocks from my house, so I know I'll definitely be back. The restaurant is elegant without feeling pretentious. White tablecloths, a warm atmosphere, and attentive, friendly service immediately make you feel welcome. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, answered all our questions, and guided us through dishes that were new to me. Everything we ordered was excellent. We started with one of their traditional breads, which was fresh, warm, and absolutely delicious. We also shared several salads, including an eggplant salad that completely stole the show. It was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and one of the best eggplant dishes I've had in a long time. Another highlight was their large steamed dumplings, similar in spirit to pierogi but distinctly Uzbek. They were generously filled with lamb, perfectly cooked, and incredibly satisfying. Comfort food at its best. One thing that really impressed me was how authentic the restaurant felt. It was busy with people who clearly knew and appreciated the cuisine, including many Eastern European and Central Asian diners, which always feels like a good sign. It is wonderful to find a restaurant serving authentic Uzbek food in the suburbs, and doing it so well. Excellent food, gracious service, and a beautiful atmosphere make Chinor an easy recommendation. If you're looking to try something beyond the usual restaurant choices, this place is absolutely worth the visit.

The bread was a good starter and came with a light tomato sauce. The samsas were also a good starter...warm and flaky. The pumpkin one was my favorite! For our main meal, we shared the wedding plov and a lamb and lulya kabob. The wedding plov came in a portion that can easily be shared between 2-3 people. The dish itself is pretty simple but I enjoyed it! The lamb kabob was a bit overcooked (still good though) and the lulya kabob was so tender and perfect. The food was good and fit exactly what we were craving. The service was also good but a bit slow at times. It's hard to believe all this food came out to less than $50.

Wedding Plov $14.50 - Very tasty and keeps you going back for more. Kavurma Lagman $16 - Noodle dish like I've never had before, would order again. Honey Cake $8 - Not only adorable, but a delicious layered cake that is not too sweet. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2026

It's halal, super clean, and the staff? Genuinely some of the kindest and warmest people you'll meet. You can tell they really care about their space and their food -- gloves, masks, and great hospitality all around. The vibe inside is lowkey but elegant, great for a quiet night out or a new food experience with friends or family. The menu reflects a wide variety of authentic dishes -- some comforting, others bold and new depending on your palate. Pelmeni (dumplings): Very strong in flavor, not what I'm typically used to. The texture might take some getting used to -- I wasn't the biggest fan, but my friend loved it. Plov: So flavorful and hearty -- slightly on the greasy side but still really satisfying. Manty: If you're into juicy, steamed dumplings, this is the move. The spices are deep and warming. Honey Cake: Hands down one of my favorites. Soft, lightly sweet, and melts in your mouth -- definitely a must-try. If you're into exploring lesser-known cuisines or just want a meal that feels like a journey across cultures, Jannat is a beautiful stop. It's an experience more than just a dinner, and you can feel the passion behind the dishes.

We came for lunch, the decor is cute Soviet and it has a very formal feel throughout. They had several menus including the lunch/dinner menu and a tea time menu. The first thing that jumped out at us is how expensive everything is. We ended up ordering the meat sampler platter for 2, which was a lot of food! First they bring out the appetizers which includes 5 different spreads/salads, 2 dumplings with meat (pelmeni), and 2 dumplings with potatoes (vareniki). I really enjoyed the beet salad and the Korean carrots. The vareniki were flavorful and the dough was a perfect texture. Additionally, they brought out 3 entrees: a stuffed cabbage roll (galubets), a beef/mushroom stroganoff dish, and a chicken kebab plate with rice and buckwheat. The stroganoff was my favorite; rich, creamy, and well seasoned. The kebab and accompaniments were also well seasoned and tasty. For me, the galubets was not good; the sauce was too thin and the meat inside was grainy and too sweet. Very fun Soviet experience with great service, but not sure I would go back considering the prices. They also add a service fee (which is not considered the tip).

The space: The restaurant itself is inviting--clean, nicely decorated, and even equipped with a kids' play area, which makes it feel well-suited for families and larger gatherings. The service: Service felt on the slower side, but I later realized there's a call button on the table--likely the system they use for ordering, asking for help, or requesting the check. A good tip for first-time visitors: press the button when you're ready. The food: I ordered the Palov, a traditional rice dish with lamb chunks and a quail egg. Unfortunately, it wasn't to my taste. The rice and lamb leaned overly greasy, leaving a coating in my mouth long after the meal. The lamb itself was decent when hot, but quickly became dry as it cooled. It's not a dish I'd order again. Overall: Milliy Family Restaurant has a welcoming space and friendly staff, but the flavors and preparation just didn't work for me personally. While I appreciate the experience, I don't see myself returning
