I have been coming to Gaylord Texan for 6 years on an annual family trip. The experience is always tainted by this restaurant. The staff is rude, the food is okay, and the behavior they consistently have is embarrassing. The hostesses always have an arrogance and attitude that is unacceptable. Most recently, I had to have the GM of the entire resort make me a reservation. The difference in the experience was insane. My point - every guest should be treated with respect and kindness NO MATTER WHAT. read more

Great food! The caesar salad was good along with the steak I had but the customer service could've been a lot better. What I mean by that is a manager wearing a pinkish red shirt sat my table near a bar top and there were children there and I asked politely to be moved to a regular table of seven but the manager tried to seat us at a six seat table. When I reminded the manager that there were seven of us she took a chair from another table and moved it to my six seat table which was clearly too little room for everybody sitting at the table and then when we told her this the manager rolled her eyes at me and walked away. Highly recommend getting reservations to save on wait time! The ambience is elevated dining, but you can dress casually. My friend said her caesar salad was the best she's ever had! The short rib sugo with tagliatelle was good, but unfortunately didn't have a ton of short rib. It was primary tomatoes which was a bit disappointing, but the flavor and homemade pasta was delicious! During a recent conference we had the opportunity to try this venue. The setting is lovely, and the service was pleasant. The food was ok. I had the pasta fra diavolo with lobster. The lobster meat was rather rubbery and there was not very much of it as compared to the huge mound of pasta. Usually, fra diavolo signifies some spiciness. There was none of that. Had fried calamari, fried scallops, and fried fish of the day, which was salmon today and it came with a spicy sauce and like a lemon tartar sauce. I would ask for it extra crispy because it was a little soft. But great! ****ceasar salad (don't be skerd, add anchovies, grow some row-fish balls). We ordered it two days in a row. So good!!! They accidentally included the hairy fish, but it was accidentally awesome. Try thinking mustard glazed fish (don't think hairy), and it's got a nice vinegar kick. And btw-proper Caesar has diced anchovies anyway. Now ya know... ****Filet was no bull!!! So delicious. Legit. Tasted like it was cooked in bacon. Didn't need salt. Please don't do this to me...no WAY! It must've been late for them...must have been. We had a 9:15 pm dinner reservation and were excited to have been recommended this place by the concierge at the Gaylord Texan. Our hotel room was on the 4th floor, and our balcony faced this restaurant. Convenient. We were relaxed and hungry. Unfortunately, Zeppole had a VERY limited menu, and the options were not that appealing. Online, the menu looked so attractive! But when you arrive, it's anything but that. My daughter ordered the carbonara, I ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce, and my youngest ordered the cheese pizza. All so very, VERY Disappointing! My daughters carbonara was bland, and my spaghetti seemed dry. The pictures I took of our meals may look good because I dressed it up with my glass of Rose'. It's not worth the post, but I just may with a side note;-( I'm sad. They need to STEP IT UP here! This is the best you got here at the Gaylord Texan??? UGH!! Better to step out of the Gaylord to eat a good meal. I heard there are a few good restaurants not to far from there. The "free" dessert they gave was terrible. I am so sorry for this review. Are you ready for the 411? Here we go...I am in Texas for a conference and staying at the Gaylord Texas which is beautiful! I visited one of the restaurants, Zeppole, during my stay. We had 8pm reservations and was able to be seated early. They had a busy night but the wait for everything was so long. Please note they advertise their pasta to be freshly homemade, but if this is the case eat before you go! We waited over an hour to get our food and were literally starving. To the point, I personally could not enjoy the food and had to have it packed up. Despite it all, our sever, Brett, was EXTREMELY gracious in checking in on us. He even treated us to dessert which was absolutely delicious. The food is great and the ambiance was perfect, but the wait was crazy. Next time I would try to get an earlier reservation and if not, find someplace else to eat. This was an unexpected experience as I have stayed at many Gaylord hotels in the past and was surprised by this experience. read more

Wanted so bad to love it but I just couldn't. 1/3 of what we ordered was perfection. But all the fettuccines and pasta dishes were not quite done on the noodles. A little too far from the Al denta goal I believe they were reaching. It also all came out pretty cold. The chefs looked like they were cooking up a storm and working their butts off back there. Our waitress was crazy slow. Never refilled the waters once. We could hardly catch her 2 hours into dinner for the ticket to leave. Maybe she was overworked and they were short staffed. No one was ugly. I think maybe short staff or time management is to blame for this. We are willing to come back at the end of the year and try again and see how different it is. read more

I'm not even a bread person but from the moment the bread was put out front, I was hungry enough to be tempted, and I will say it was good enough to foreshadow how well the rest of the dinner went. So, the only thing about this review that docks 1 star was the service. It really was disappointing compared to the quality of food at Zeppole. I reserved a room at the Gaylord for our 9 year anniversary and at zeppole. Reservation was a little challenging since it went through the concierge but they got it taken care of. First - Food was pretty solid. Appetizers were the fried salmon and shrimp. The sauce was delicious and the red sauce was packing some heat. I really enjoyed it. Again, everything about the food was great. My GF got the fettuccine Alfredo, which had the right amount of sauce and the chicken was cooked (moist too). Huge fan of the this dish. My dish was better tho. It was the scallops, mussels, and pasta dish (I'm not screwing up the name of it tho). The sauce had some heat to it as well, but it was cooked well. It was great. Finally the dessert. I had the tiramisu, which was probably ranked in the best (top 3) tiramasu's I've had in the states. Granted, the gf got some chocolate mousse and it was extremely well too. The place knows their food. Now the mediocre. The server was just going through the motions for her day. Didn't really do anything bad, but nothing good. It was basically a bland chic-fil-a drive through service. IT was extremely disappointing and she was not personal able at all. She gave no recommendations, didn't ask why we were there. Really silly; this restaurant was 90% available yet they wouldn't let us in for a seat. They said we needed to be staying in the Gaylord Texan Hotel in order to be seated. I spoke with the manager to no avail. We live here, and repeat business is how restaurants make money. Instead, after we were turned away we spent $300 at a nearby sushi restaurant outside the hotel. I do encourage you to make a reservation ahead of time just to make life a bit easier. Their dishes are delectable! I must admit, I was a bit disheartened when I saw the portion size of the octopus (especially after how much I am spending on it) but it'd be a lie if I said I hated my first bite. Wish they could've gave more! Customer service is pretty amazing. The hostess, Rachel was really kind and accommodating. Reservations highly recommended. I booked on open table in advance. They'll seat you no earlier than your reservation time regardless of how many tables are open. They don't fill every open table either. We arrived 7:05pm. We were told to to wait 10 min for our table. Anyway we got seated right at 7:15 pm. They gave us water. We ordered cocktail drinks, an apple juice for my daughter and calamari. Entrees my daughter ordered spaghetti, I had shrimp carbonara with Cesar salad, my husband had soup and lobster Mac. The juice and calamari came out. It was salty and we expected squid, not fish & shrimp. Then 3 pieces of warm bread came out. Then the spaghetti. Then they brought the soup & salad. Finally our cocktails came 45 min later. My daughter already finished her spaghetti. After an hour at 8:10pm our pasta came out. We ordered tiramisu for my daughter so she could eat it while we ate our pasta. My noodles were a bit crunchy, almost raw in parts. Overly al dente?? My daughter tried & loved my pasta. I wasn't a fan. I ate tiramisu while she had my pasta. Tiramisu was good. But warning it does have a strong liquor taste for kids. We had to rush through our entree Bc we had reservations for an activity at 9pm so the waitress comped a cheesecake for the long wait for our food. Overall service was good. This was probably the best meal that I had at the hotel, but it had the worst service. My party and I arrived at 6:15pm and ordered salads for appetizers, which came out right away. It took another 45 minutes to order our meals. Our main courses didn't arrive until 8pm. I had the seasonal fish of the day, which was the salmon. At $27, I kind of expected a little more in terms of sides. There was a light salad on top, with just a smidge of mashed potatoes. The salmon itself was fine, but I didn't really think it needed this salty tomato puree on top as it overwhelmed the meal. read more

Lovely ambiance inside the Gaylord Texas! I went two nights during my stay. They bring you hot, fresh bread with a delicious olive oil and balsamic dipping. Beef carpaccio was light and very tender with pops of salt from the capers. I love burrata and this was absolutely delicious! Creamy and salty with pops of tomato and fresh herbs. My main was the bolognese pasta and it was delicious! Perfect al dente pasta and they didn't skimp on the beef at all! I would recommend this place if you don't want to venture out of the hotel. read more

Our server was attentive and helpful with menu options. I wasn't a huge fan of the menu offerings for an Italian inspired menu. It was very costal Italian. The food we ordered while presented beautifully was extremely bland and not good at all. Chicken dry and over cooked. Risotto was way to al dente and had absolutely no flavor. Every thing we had was just blah! And so so so overwhelming over priced. Just a huge disappointment. We love the Gaylord Hotel but this restaurant is woefully inadequate for such an upscale Hotel. I returned on Friday April 19th and while standing waiting at the hostess stand , I was treated like I was invisible until another party came behind me and the hostess attempted to help them looking through me. We ate here one night during our stay at the Gaylord. It was very convenient since our room was on that half of the hotel. We put in our name around the usual dinner time and only waited about 5 minutes. From there, we were seating at an "outdoor" table on the patio. Our server was quick to take our order, but wasn't rushing us. The bread that came with the meal was a great variety of selections, and it was not problem getting a refill. I had the calamari to start and the pappardelle pasta as my entree. The calamari was good and a decent sized portion, but nothing special. My pasta on the other hand, was supurb. The cocktail I had wasn't the best, we had the meatballs to start which came out fast and they were good but not amazing. I had the lasagne as my main and again it wasn't bad but it also wasn't anything to shout about either. My hubby had the fettuccine Alfredo with goats cheese his was better than mine but he also didn't love it.
