Unbelievable experience here. We were turned away and denied service just because we had our baby in a stroller car seat. Management refused to move us to another section, even though the restaurant was completely empty. It's no surprise they were empty if this is how they treat paying customers. This was our second time visiting Stellini Trattoria and we really enjoyed our meal. It was 2 days before Christmas, so Grapevine was super packed, but the restaurant staff did a fantastic job of keeping a good seating rhythm so that the kitchen and servers didn't get too overwhelmed. We showed up about 30 minutes ahead of our reservation, so we had a drink at the bar (I ordered the martini - it was great). They seated us less than 10 minutes after we arrived. We ordered arancini and the house salad and split both and then for our meals, I ordered the barolo shrimp pasta and my husband got the cacio e pepe. Both dishes were fantastic. My pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was velvety and full of flavor. The shrimp was also cooked perfectly. The arancini were also delicious. Only minor suggestion would be to include a little more marinara or some type of sauce to dip the arancini in but it was still really good. Our server was very good and the restaurant itself has a cozy vibe without your table being on top of the one next to you. Side note: the bar is huge and probably seats about 20 people. We decided to give it a try for dinner. The location was good. Parking was questionable. You feel like you are taking a risk being towed because restaurant parking is not designated. The inside was nice, but very loud. A little too upscale for my taste in Italian restaurants. We were seated quickly. The server Lauren was ehhh at best, she knew little to nothing about wines. She didn't seem very knowledgeable overall and wasn't very out going. Drinks were ok. The Old Fashioned is nothing to write home about, I'd recommend skipping it. My wife did enjoy her wine. We ordered the meatballs to start with, definitely skip those. They were bland, lacking flavor, and not worth it. I ordered the Lobster Risotto. For $58 it was a VERY small plate with risotto that was not cooked very well, there were several bites that were hard (as in not cooked or burned). The sauce was also lacking a full body flavor I would have expected. To top it off, there were four small pieces of lobster in the entire dish. A Disappointing dish! The server offered us black pepper and Parmesan but never brought it. My wife said the filet and gnocchi was good, she enjoyed it. For dessert we tried the Crown Royal Cheesecake. It was absolutely ATROCIOUS! We each took one small bite and let it sit on the table. Overall I was not impressed. Very over priced for what they offer. I expected better. read more

We went for an early dinner. Loved our waitress, she was so knowledgable and enthusiastic about the menu. Her recommendations were spot on. Started with the zucchini chips and flatbread. The latter was just a bit too sweet for my taste but the burrata helped balance it. For drinks, I wanted to get a hot toddy and it wasn't on the menu but the bartender still made it for me which was awesome. I took my entree to go and the branzino was amazing! As a new mom to a newborn, I was excited to get out of the house and enjoy a meal with my family. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. We were told that strollers were not allowed in the restaurant, and when we explained that our baby was in a Doona stroller/car seat, the hostess informed us that because they didn't have high chairs compatible with it, our only options were to leave the baby outside or not eat there. I understand restaurants have policies, but the lack of accommodation or compassion for families with infants was shocking. New parents already face enough challenges getting out of the house, and being made to feel unwelcome because we had our newborn with us was incredibly frustrating. My husband brought me here for valentine's day so there was a set menu. To start we had the coppa carpaccio and the prawn tempura. The carpaccio was just as expected and delicious the prawn was deep fried in breadcrumbs but on biting into it the shell was still on it not just the head and tail the whole she'll, it tasted awful. We both got barolo lobster and prime rib pasta which was good but didn't blow me away, the lobster was the best part. For dessert we ordered the Panna Cotta and the chocolate lava cake both were fantastic. When we arrive they sat us and gave us a glass of champagne which was a nice touch. Our server was friendly and efficient. We also both ordered a cocktail my husband had the old fashioned which he loved and I had something from a seasonal menu with prosecco and it was like a french 75 very good. We had a great evening. Charming space with great service. Hubby really loved the meatballs. The Flatbread was good but would have preferred the prosciutto to but cut up a bit more. We were part of a larger group a little over a month ago, but everyone is STILL talking about how amazing the experience and food were when we visited. I am anxious to go back and try some of their other menu items! For example, the one person we were with ordered the Seven Layer Lasagna and I have to say it looked amazing and she kept going on and on about it! Meatballs - made in house meatballs covered in melty mozzarella. Was maybe my favorite appetizer! Calamari Steak- I've never had anything like this. Sooo good! Thin flat sliced, perfectly light breading, served over tomato sauce, with herb aioli, cherry peppers, garlic, topped with arugula. Salad: Cesar Salad 5/5 The lightest Cesar salad I've ever had. Generous amount of chopped romaine. Delicious croutons & shaved parmesan with and the perfect amount of a light garlic dressing (not doused). Entree: 5/5 Filet & Gnocchi- 8-oz tenderloin served over parmesan black truffle gnocchi, spinach & mushrooms topped with our signature red wine reduction sauce. That gnocchi was divine! Loved everything about that dish! Dessert: 5/5 They brought us fun (decorated with a sparkler) platters of an assortment of desserts. Cannolis, almond biscotti cheesecake, heavenly house-made carrot cake, tiramisu & a chocolate cake. We were stuffed but committed to trying a bite of each. Honestly expected more given the reviews, but seems quite mixed with either 5 stars or 2 stars. Unfortunately, I am very much in the 2 star category. Started with some salads, house was good, the Caesar lacked any flavor, almost no dressing the romaine and croutons were quite sad. We had a couple pizzas to share and they were passable, maybe the best thing I had all night. Decent crust and flavor. Meatball appetizer was good, nice flavor and cooked well. The waitress talked up the robiola pasta and it was bad. Had only 3 shrimp in it and the pasta and sauce really lacked flavor. One of the worst pasta dishes I've had in quite some time. Pasta dish wasn't cheap either, $38 for pasta with 3 shrimp in it. I ate more of the pizza instead of eating my pasta. I would say skip, you can definitely find better. read more

We had dinner at Stellini Trattoria with friends on a Saturday night, starting with drinks at the bar while waiting for our table. We had reservations, and I'd definitely recommend making one because the place was busy. For starters, we ordered the Ciccio Flatbread and Arancini. The flatbread was amazing, packed with flavor and a great way to start the meal. The arancini was just okay. The center wasn't as hot as it should have been IMO and could have used another minute or two in the fryer. But...I like my hot food to be hot. YMMV. For mains, our table had a mix of dishes: Tagliatelle Bolognese, Amanti Della Carne pizza, Cacio e Pepe, and the Gnocchi special. Out of everything, we all agreed that the Tagliatelle Bolognese was the best dish. It was absolutely delicious! The Cacio e Pepe, on the other hand, was a little disappointing. It was too heavy on the sauce and oddly lacked any real pepper flavor. You could actually taste lemon more than anything else. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what we expected. IMO it would have worked better as an Alfredo. Service was just okay. Our server was friendly, but when it came time for dessert and the check, there were long waits. We all wished she had been a little more attentive. The ambiance was a mixed bag. The restaurant itself is nicely designed, and I'd normally consider it a great date night spot, but it was surprisingly loud for a place of this caliber. The bar is in the middle of everything, and the boisterous bar crowd really took away from the dining experience. It was so loud that having a conversation across the table was nearly impossible. Overall, I'm on the fence about going back. The food was great, but at this price point for a full dinner, I expected a bit more of a refined experience, both in terms of service and atmosphere. If they worked on the noise level and pacing of service, it could be a fantastic spot, but as it stands, I don't know if I'd return on a night that it might be busy. read more

I got the Mafaldine Pasta and it was above average, tasted very strongly of Brussels sprouts so be warned of that. Lovely waitress also brought me a free Oreo cheesecake dessert with a sparkler in it, without prompting, after our meal, which really made it special. I will say, the parking is horrible. My wife found this gem in the middle of the afternoon on an otherwise dreary day I guess it was around 3:00 pm before the wait staff had arrived for their shift. No matter, the GM himself greeted us warmly and found us a comfortable table. After perusing the menu my wife asked him for a recommendation. We were telling him if he had a signature experience that he wanted to communicate to the world, what would it be! For starters we had the Calamari Steak and Caprese. I've never had better Calamari and the Caprese had Burrata cheese instead of the standard Mozzarella which was an unexpected yet fantastic choice. The GM then picked the Scallops Stellini for my wife and suggested the Braised Pork Shank for me. He also paired the perfect wine choices for us. I gotta tell you I could tell their Chef had Michelin credentials!! Both entres' were next level in every category. We ate here for our anniversary. This place is awesome. My wife had the filet with gnocchi and added the scallops. The scallops had so much flavor, as did the filet. I had the pasta with pecorino Romano cheese sauce. It was absolutely fantastic. We had the charcuterie board for an appetizer, it isn't on the menu, so you need to ask for it. That was also fantastic. For desert, we had the lemoncello Brule, and that was very delicious. The service was absolutely fantastic , it was quick and our waiter did a great job of explaining the menu to us. This was one of the best meals we have ever had. OMG this is some of the best Italian I've ever had. This place would easily be one of the best restaurants in Little Italy in San Diego (which is clearly known for have great Italian restaurants). However, it not in Little Italy--it's located in the heart of Grapevine. The food is top notch! Let me put it this way, we took home leftovers, and even reheated a few days later, the food was unbelievably good! We started with meatballs for an appetizer and they were so tasty. The Mafaldine was amazing and full of flavor. We also got a special that consisted of rigatoni with boar meat, cheese, and a sausage, and that meal was an absolute treat to my tastebuds. The we finished it all off with an order of Zeppole. The dough was cooked to perfection and complimented well by the three dipping sauces. If you like Italian, or just food generally, do yourself a favor check out Stellini! We will be making special trips to eat here again, that's for sure!!! read more
