Absolutely bad place. Don't know what her name was douja or Dita. She did a horrible horrible job with my hair. She did not even care to ask what I wanted. Started to cut my hair just like that. Even before I could answer anything, she started snipping my hair. Never ever go to this place. I had waist long hair and now I have hair that don't even go upto my shoulders. Very very disappointed. Has no patience to listen at all. Firstly she was talking on the phone when I arrived and kept talking even though I was just sitting there waiting for her. I always walk out feeling beautiful and confident, and their attention to detail is impeccable. I have been going to Sublime Salon and Spa to see Douja for eye brow and Brazilian waxes for over 3 years now and have always been happy with the results. I LIKE the shape and thickness of my brows and Douja respects that. Too many times I've had my brows waxed WAY too thin despite the instructions I have given because that is the look the waxer likes, not here. Over the past year I have been getting my hair trimmed and blown out for special occasions as well and Douja does a great job getting my very curly hair silky and smooth from root to tip. DO NOT GO HERE if you don't want to be stood up. Although Douja and the team seem very nice, they are extremeley disorganized. I made an appointment for a bikini wax a few months ago, and when I showed up for my appointment (11am on a wednesday), Douja wasn't there and arrived 15 minutes late, making me late for a meeting I had at work. Then, when I scheduled a mani/pedi for president's day, they confirmed my appointment, but when I showed up, the store was closed! Apparently they were closed on the day and just forgot to call me. Douja was very nice and offered to give me a free mani/pedi, but then when I scheduled it, I was stood up. And again, when I came back for my RESCHEDULED appointment, I was stood up again. I am appalled at the experience I had with this salon. I was so angry with what happened that I walked out of the salon without having my hair cut or colored, as was planned. This happened today and it would get a 0 star rating if that were possible. I made my appointment a month and a half ago with Sublime to have my hair cut, colored, and styled with Douja (whom I believe is the owner of the salon). I hadn't heard from the salon the day before my appointment so I called around 4:30 p.m. to make sure that they had me in their book. Douja answered the phone and confirmed that my appointment was at 10 a.m. the next day but asked if I could come in at 11:30 a.m. I was taken aback and told her that I couldn't because I was taking time off of work. She told me she had a doctor's appointment and made me feel bad that I couldn't come in later than scheduled. Long story short, she agreed to cancel her doctor's appointment and come in at 10 a.m. the next day to do my hair. I actually did feel bad that she was canceling her appointment for me but she assured me it was okay. I showed up at 9:50 a.m. on the day of my appointment (today) and nobody was at the salon for my 10 a.m. appointment. I waited until 10:23 a.m. for a woman to finally show up. She didn't apologize and led me into the salon, saying that I could take a seat. I waited until she put her coat away and made it quite clear that I was upset. She apologized at that point and blamed her lateness on the traffic and parking. This is also the point where I found out that she was not Douja, whom I was supposed to be seeing. I was furious. Douja basically lied to me and told me that she would be in to see me and then pawned me off on another of her staff who ended up being late. Regardless of skill, I found it completely unacceptable. Douja could have at least had the common courtesy to have told me that she would not be making it into the salon. I wasted my time to go to a salon that is more than sub-par in my eyes and I am COMPLETELY dissatisfied with their overall lack of professionalism and concern for a customer. read more

I've been going here, since I moved here, 2 years now. I absolutely ove the service. I can always get an appointment within an hour of my call which is always fantastic. Bikini waxes--omg! Douja is so fantastic. I love that I'm done in about 20 minutes. I'd rather pay $25-45 depending on what I get, Brazilian/Bikini and have it done quick and fast. I love that she gets it done and effortlessly with ease and consistency and its not painful at all. I've recommended another friend who's said the same. She even takes the time to pluck anything remaining. She always makes sure everything is complete despite having another client. Eyebrow waxing: usually get it threaded because the shape is definitely sharper but even when I get it waxed here in between, the shape still comes out great that I've been getting it waxed more than threaded. Haircut: She does a fabulous. I have really thick hair and in the summers, its always a problem. She did a fabulous job the first time with texturizing the edges. The shape has been fantastic ever since especially for my hair. I love having her do a flippant blowdry and all that for 45. i cant get that on newbury and be done in 30 minutes. I've been getting waxes for about 10 years, and figured I'd give this place a try since it got such great yelp reviews. It was hands down the worst wax experience I've ever had. When I arrived it they weren't that busy but the woman who seemed to be in charge let the receptionist do my wax. She lifted about 7 square inches of skin off of my face, and now it's scabbed over. I've had skin lift before, but this is an actual LAYER of skin missing. It was like she had no waxing experience at all. She did my whole face in 3 huge patches, didn't pull the skin taught so everything just got torn. After the terror, she TOSSED me a bottle of oil and told me to put it on my face and speed walked back to her desk to keep texting. My skin was so raw that I was calling for help and no one came until I was within 2 feet of the desk and even then she ran over, lead me to a bathroom to put "cold water" on it and ran back to text. The woman in charge tried to help but it was too late and no one ever apologized. This is easily going to take 3 weeks to heal and I can't even go to work tomorrow because it's so bad. The wound is actually 3 inches by 4 inches wide. I can't believe it. I have no idea who this "Douja" is, but all I know is that no one cared that day at all about the wound and I was never apologized to. Accidents happen, but this is so bad it's unforgivable and they should have apologized either way. read more

I bought a Groupon for a haircut and full highlights in this salon, and they were ready to give me an appointment the next day (I just read a comment saying that they didn't welcome Groupon customers that much but in my case it didn't happen that way). I came and got my hair cut and the highlights done perfectly and in a reasonable amount of time. The hairdresser is very nice, so I also had a lot of fun talking to her. I'll be back next time I need a haircut, definitely. Plus the price is very reasonable for the quality you get. I went in for a brazilian; the (owner?) was very pleasant and the experience was nice; She seemed stressed out despite having an empty salon - she said her assistant didn't come in. The wax was a bit painful, but it's been a long time since I got a wax so I didn't worry about it. However, when I got home the burning never really subsided and now the next day I can see that I have ACTUAL burns/skin lift. Won't be back. read more

I love Douja! She has been cutting my hair for years. I would not go to anyone else. I am so happy to see her with her own shop. It is incredibly clean. Very comfortable. She even has cookies! Her prices are also incredibly reasonable! I was worried that they would go up since she is new but she is a smart business woman and knows exactly the right prices and so they didn't go up! So now to be more technically. My hair is long, thick, wavy, tangled, straight and completely in it's own world. I have been to about a million different stylists who claimed they could do my hair and give me the right products for it. I have been going to Douja for over a year now. This review is LONG overdue. Her Brazilian waxes are the best I've had. Ever. She is so efficient and fast but extremely thorough. She chats with you if you're in the mood to chat or she just gets to work and gets the job done! I highly recommend her!! I've tried many salons in Cambridge and Boston and all of them left me with ingrown hairs, which was just terrible. I've been going to Sublime for about a year now. I've had at least 4 cuts/colors and multiple blow-outs.....and they've all been fabulous. I'm totally digging the highlights Douja put in a few weeks ago. Each time I've called Douja for an appointment, it's always been last minute, and she's ALWAYS accommodated me....and I've never been rushed. Each time has been a great 3 hours spent - attention to detail. Multi-tasking is Douja and Dita's 2nd business....they do a great job at it, and are so complimentary to each other. This last time I had both of their undivided attention to the coloring of my hair. They both spent about 15 minutes discussing with me various options (color, highlights, etc.)....and at the end I said "This is your art. I trust you to do your job and make me more beautiful." And that they did....AGAIN! :) I have curly hair, and the blow-outs are top notch as well. So good, that I'll pop in randomly and see if Douja can wash my hair and blow it out for me on an afternoon - a treat for me. :) The last time I was in, while Douja was doing my hair, another woman with shorter curly hair came in and was looking for a new style and shape (very tough for short curly hair...i know). Dita did an AMAZING job - looked effortless. With all that said, you can see that I have had great experiences with Douja...and Sublime as a whole. I especially enjoy going after work to catch up with Douja and Dita - they are full of fun and positive energy....loving life. It's a wonderful break from a long day at work. Douja is hands-down the best waxer I've been to. Sometimes she's distracted, and there isn't a ton of fluffy "spa" extras, and frankly I like it that way. The customer doesn't pay extra for frills -- you go in, get top-quality work, pay an affordable price, and leave. If you come during slow times and get her full attention, she is really fun to talk to, but either way, she does excellent work. I'd trust her work blindfolded over any other waxer full-sighted. Like most South Asians, I have a complicated facial hair situation, and it doesn't faze her in the slightest. Overall not so thrilled about this place. I've been in for hair cuts/blow dry a couple of times. I've both had the owner and the other stylist. I think they're talented, but are always rushed/stressed and the result can be rather sloppy. There is no receptionist, so they are always running back and forth to the phone. In order to take walk-ins, they often seem to rush on standing appointments. I've specifically scheduled one of the stylists before (the owner), then was casually told when I got there that I would have the other because the owner had also booked someone else. I started going to Sublime because I bought a Groupon-type thing that included a variety of services. When I called to make appointments for them, I had to schedule ~2 months in advance (I guess they only do a certain number of the Groupon appointments per week, not stated when I bought the Groupon) . When the time finally came for the mani/pedi, they called me a couple days before and said their nail person had left, so they couldn't do it. They did offer to reschedule at some point in the future for a hair-straightening service, but I have pin-straight hair so declined. Of the 4 services listed on the Groupon I bought, I only ended up being able to use one, despite the fact that I had scheduled all of them ~3 months ahead of time. I felt as though I'd been swindled. I've spent several months researching Keratin treatments. I have very fine, curly hair and therefore was concerned about any possible damage that may occur. After much research, I finally decided to have my Keratin treatment done at Sublime. I walked in to the salon and was promptly greeted by Douja. She was so incredibly warm and welcoming! The process was absolutely painless, I actually found it to be a relaxing experience. After 2 hours, I had the results I was hoping for, thanks to Douja and another amazing stylist. My hair was so shiny, silky and manageable! I will definitely continue my Keratin treatments at Sublime, as a matter of fact, I just booked a color. Both Dita and Douja were super accommodating and friendly, and Douja, who cut my hair, did an excellent job. I loved my cut and blow-dry. Then I went recently for a haircut fix and Dita was super friendly and scheduled me right away, like in an hour from the time I called. She fixed my hair and didn't even charge me. I then went a month later for a full haircut with Douja, and again, just a very positive experience, and she fixed my haircut even more. When I call to make an appointment, they are both so professional, friendly, and sweet. And they are both so talented! I can't wait for my next appointment. Summer is on it's way and that means it's time to get....uhm, down there, back in shape. It'd been months since my last Brazilian so I knew I was in for it. After living in Brazil for three years, I had grown accustomed to waxing but it's so darn expensive here and I haven't yet had a wax worth what I paid for. I had resigned to doing them myself (quite poorly at that) and then finally gave up over the winter months. hey, no bikinis needed, right? Anyhow, the time had come. Spring cleaning. I had already searched high and low in Boston for a good quality and well priced Brazilian wax. After moving to Central Square I searched Yelp (I course) for yet another recommendation as I still hadn't found someone reliable after two years in the area. And I have to say, I'm finally satisfied. Douja is amazing! I called at 530 and she snuck me in for a 630 appointment and I was out the door by 640. Heck, I can come in in the morning before work at this rate! She did a fantastic job and the speed and ease of the waxing is what I loved the most. A few hours later all of the redness and irritation is completely gone and I'm good to go. (Note: I have super sensitive skin so waxing is always a somewhat traumatic experience for it!!) I get my haircuts and Brazillian waxing done here by Douja and Dita. By far the best experience i've ever had waxing. Less painful than other ppl I've gone to and the prices and personalities make this chore a much less painful experience.
