I messaged a bunch of businesses in our area to compare prices and see if they service my area in general, QC was one of them. The first message was on 11/16 to inquire about pricing. I was already a bit skeptical after seeing some of the 1 star reviews (specifically the one where someone's dog was hit by a car and the owner responded really negatively), but I thought I'd reach out anyway because maybe this was just a one time occurrence. Boy was I wrong. Although this place was the cheapest, the response from the owner when I originally inquired about pricing completely threw me off and gave me a bad vibe. Along with the other 1 star reviews, I just didn't feel comfortable with the owner and how he would potentially deal with situations when they arise, so I went with another business. I'd rather have some peace of mind when someone is handling my dog rather than saving a mere $10 a week. Today is 11/20, and out of nowhere, I receive these messages from the business owner. I couldn't believe this was something he'd actually send to me.... I was accused of working with Yelp because some of his reviews were moved down???? Completely unprofessional, rude, and I'm so glad I trusted my gut to not move forward with QC.

He was very, very ill. I rushed him straight to the emergency vet where they immediately diagnosed him with sepsis, and he died soon after. It is clear that he'd been sick for a while: Ed and Dawn told me afterwards that he'd stopped eating, drinking, and taking his arthritis meds the day before, and he hadn't even been able to STAND UP all day. Yet for some reason they chose to not reach out and let me know any of this, so he just lay helpless on the floor all day, unable to eat, drink, or stand, slipping into sepsis, and I only discovered anything was wrong when I walked in the door at 5pm to pick him up. By that time it was too late. If I'd known that Ed and and Dawn would ignore such obvious signs of distress from an animal in their care, I never would have brought my dog to them. While he is pretty much a perfect pup, he has a bit of aggression towards men that come into my apartment, which included my dad on one occasion as well as my uncle and building super. I had a one-on-one with Mark at my apartment, and I actually came across him in his van on the way back from our walk, waiting for our appointment time. We walked back to my apartment and there he asked a bunch of questions and got to know Hammy, and Ham loved him! Mark explained that it was because they had met outside first and then proceeded into the apartment afterwards, while Mark ignored him the whole time they were outside. He spent nearly 2 hours with me, and we took Ham on a walk where he impressed Mark with how good of a walker he is! My parents actually visited the next day for Easter, and Mark gave me the best way to re-introduce my dad- away from the apartment, while ignoring him. It worked! While their last interaction was filled with barking, snapping, and growling (from Ham, not my dad), as soon as we got back to the apartment, Hamlet was all over my dad with affection. (I included a picture and that's my dad's lap that Hamlet is sitting on!) I now feel like I have the right tools to introduce Hamlet to men in the future and to make sure he is comfortable with them. My dog contracted kennel cough at Brooklyn Dog Training Center (Doggie Academy) and they refused to…read moreprovide a partial refund for the class he missed after getting sick. They wanted me to come to the class without my dog and leave him home alone sick. The facility is very dirty and run down and the owner acted very unprofessionally with regard to the entire situation. Owner is a total liar. She never spoke to my vet, she contacted my vet's office via email and asked a hypothetical question about whether a dog showing symptoms the next day would have contacted it at her facility so they responded accordingly. Yet my specific dog did not show symptoms the next day, he showed symptoms a few days later. Sarah is being sneaky and deceptive in order to get them to provide a response in writing so Doggie Academy can avoid any legal liability. My actual vet will be writing a letter confirming that my dog did most likely contract kennel cough at Doggie Academy. Would not recommend, absolute con artists and putting many dogs health in jeopardy by not notifying their clients that their facility has kennel cough.

Interesting that this is their first review…read more My wife and I brought our 3 month old puppy for their puppy socialization class last Friday. We left before the class was over. If you can imagine how Park Slope parents are with their kids, you can figure out how they are with their puppies. Although I am fine with people babying their puppies (not really but it's your dog), if the trainer is correcting the human issues, which she wasn't. 3 examples. 1) There was a puppy there that was showing aggression and dominance. (A lot of low toned growling, biting, not nipping, and when taken away was very aggressive towards its owners with biting and growling. The trainer didn't remove that dog from the group and didn't try to correct the owner's handling of the dog. The owners were definitely new owners and had no clue what they were doing. Which is fine but puppy socialization classes are for the owners as much as the puppies. 2) Our puppy is very well socialized. It doesn't have any problems with any dogs or humans, including in this class. Later in the class a very nervous and timid terrier came in. It was hiding under chairs and in the corners with its tail between its legs. My puppy went over to it and tried to play with it, Chased it around and, admittedly, prob tried a little too hard to play with the new puppy (which is how some dogs will react to that kind of energy from another dog). But instead of trying to help the timid, nervous puppy, the trainer took our dog out of the area and proceeded to say "if there is anyone who played with *name of our dog* nicely and wants to have their dog in his area...". Needless to say it wound up being every dog in with our puppy and the timid terrier and an aggressive, very small, puppy by themselves. 3) Our puppy, probably 75% of the time, when playing with other dogs, is the first one to go on its back and show belly. If anyone knows anything about dogs, this is a sign of submission, AND you know that puppies play by nipping and "mouthing". So, he was playing with another puppy, was on his back, and mouth was open (not even nipping at this point). Another dog was on top of him and the owner of that dog was saying "Too much teeth, I'm seeing too much teeth. I can't handle it" and pulls her puppy away from our dog. The trainer, right there, once again doesn't correct the owner's behavior. Overall, there was a very tense energy in the room. There were too many puppies for the space and the trainer was either overwhelmed, burnt out, or both, which led to the owners being nervous and tense, which led to the puppies feeling and feeding off of that energy. It wasn't a good situation and definitely encouraged the nervous aggressive dogs to be nervous and aggressive. Lastly, don't call the puppies "your kids" to the owners. This gives the mentally of them being our babies and treating them as human babies. They are puppies and need to be treated as puppies or that's when you get older dogs with aggressive and protective issues. I gave 2 stars because I like that they are doing this but they need to figure it out. Maybe do it more often so you don't have every puppy in the area going in the one day a month. We go to Wag Club every monday for puppy socialization and it is relaxed and fun for both the puppies and owners. They correct any puppy issues (the actual cause) and teach the owners how to deal with the issues.

Appa has had a handful of photo shoots to celebrate the holidays and her birthday. Plus Instagram posts throughout the day. You can really tell how much they love and care for the dogs. Similar to other doggie daycare spots they have a live camera to check in on your dog. They're pretty meticulous with dropping off your dog and it's so the dogs can all enjoy the ample space. We love bringing Appa here and highly recommend!

I took my dog Luna to Acme Dog Run for the first time two weeks ago for her trial and it was the…read morebest decision I've made! This was the first dog daycare I tried and I love it. When I first signed Luna up, I got a very useful email about the next steps which was a 3 hour trial that I needed to schedule. When I scheduled, I got another useful email with instructions on drop off and pick up. I love how organized everything is and there's no guessing with anything. There's also an app available where you can watch the live cameras if you're nervous about your dog's first day at daycare or anything. I'm so comfortable with having her at Acme Dog Run and love that I see updates on the app and even on Instagram. You have the option of keeping your dog there for a half day (5 hours or less) for $35 or a full day (5+ hours) for $46. If you're looking to give your dog some fun definitely give Acme Dog Run a try :)

Daycare review: I had heard great things from the neighborhood so I think my poor experience was…read moreunique. My dog came home with a mark on her face. It ended up being an injury that no one saw. When I asked what happened they guessed it looked like a skin issue. Once I cleaned up the area and found an open wound I let them know. That lead to a very unfortunate exchange with the owner raising her voice at me doubling down on the skin issue and denying it was blood or an injury. (It healed with zero skin treatment). We are definitely not coming back.
