I used to come here once or twice a week for years, but it's been a while. I came back tonight to try it again. I asked for the hour combo massage as I always used to get (30 min feet up front, 30 min body in back)... I got a full hour up front, but was charged for the combo. He did have me flip over as they do for the full hour foot, but I thought that was odd since the combo is always just head and feet up front, then they have you walk to the back... so basically, now they are trying to pass off the normal foot massage as a combo?! Also, when I first started going here the foot massage was $30/35 which included the same "meh" back pressing (wouldn't call it a rub) I got tonight. Now that's $55, and I was charged a 30% tip (my mistake). For this price I would go to a proper massage therapist. This was one of the poorest massages I've ever gotten here, and it will be my last. Way to ruin a business! I can also tell that I'm not alone in this feeling. This place used to always be busy. When I went in tonight there wasn't a single customer in there. I went in today. I had an older man. Right away, i could smell an oder of garlic coming from him. He was breathing heavily (which bothered me) Once he started touching my neck, head, shoulders, all i could smell was cigarette. I was so tense, i should have gotten up and left. I did make mention that I smell smoke as i wanted him to know "i smelled his cigarette and i was so disgusted, I, immediately came home and showered. I'd give zero if able. The massage was fine not great, but the price for a 90 minute massage is $85. They have a sign that if you pay cash you get a $5 add on free. They tried to charge me for the $5 add on at the end. I tried to tell them their sign says free with cash but they wouldn't listen/didn't understand. Whatever. But I only had the cash for the massage plus $10 tip. They didn't honor their sign so now it's a $5 tip. Gave them the money, said thanks, and tried to leave. Lady told me I didn't give her enough. I asked for him to move on but the masseuse could not understand me. They offered me a free 15 minutes and in my opinion was not enough time to cover the rest of my body. One woman there named Lily is great. But plz don't go to John, Older slim man. He made me feel uneasy. Kept leaning his body on my hands I kept moving them more in towards my hips & seemed like he kept leaning on me til I said something. Again he's a small/thin man & his body should not be evening touching anyone. He took 2 cell phone calls during my massage & acted like he didn't want to work that day. Do not recommend. Pay extra to go elsewhere. I am a regular, well was. Always tipped over 20%. This time around, they were rude as soon as we got there. I used to love Zen Massage. But the last few times my husband and I have received very poor service. Last nite my massage guy was on his phone the entire time. He started late, took several breaks and rubbed with 1 hand while holding his phone in the other. He kept stopping as he stared at his phone. Then demanded a tip when finished. Julio gives an amazing massage!! Anytime I need a massage, due to various reasons, he is my go to therapist; if he's not available, I don't get one. Typically, anybody else is just disappointing. He works hard and goes above and beyond to make his client happy. He utilizes creams, scrubs, menthol creams for pain, etc. He really cares about helping his clients feel better. We scheduled a couples massage for 3pm, and as we were on the way there at around 2:45, they called us to reschedule to 4pm. We said okay since we didn't have anything else to do, and when we got there near 4 they were confused and discussing whether to take us, bc we were scheduled at 3! We were so upset with their poor planning and communication. Then they asked us what we wanted and we said we wanted the 90 mins massage, and they said for couples massage they could only do 40 mins. OK, so I have been here a total of 4 times and each time they have went further and further down hill. 1st and 2nd time were great. No issues, called ahead and got in same day. The third time I was basically gently caressed by a male that didn't speak English at all, and I did not get the full service I requested. The receptionist has no idea how to answer a phone properly and is completely unprofessional, but I have encountered that on the previous visits and was not too shocked. I frequently and only go here with a girlfriend. Since HER LAST EXPERIENCE LEFT HER WITH BRUISES, I wanted to give the establishment another shot before writing them off. It also helped that my husband, with good intentions, purchased me two $70 gift certificates so I could bring a friend with. So with caution from the previous experience I made sure I requested two females. After being placed on hold and making sure that the availability was there, I had two appointments @ 8pm. Pretty late for a two hour appointment, but I want to make sure I have a better time. Arriving @ 8pm sharp, we were asked to wait. Not a problem I thought, I am sure they are just prepping the beds and water. After a half an hour we were finally sat and had everything to start the massage. That's when the tip started going down... The foot massage was basically a light rub down with limited lotion and hot rocks. The time I was trying to spend enjoying myself was interrupted with the masseuses constantly chatting in foreign language and banging of God knows what in the back room. When I was getting my face and head rubbed, I had to open my mouth just to breathe. Pretty much waited for it to be over. Tip dwindling more... Getting to the body massage, I had previously had them with clothes on, just shirt off, and now pants and under garments off. This time I was motioned to take my shirt off, and then was motioned again when the masseuses entered the room to take my sports bra off. OK, well i'll try it since my friend and I were together in a somewhat private room. Before starting my masseuse took it upon herself to take my leggings off and pull down my underwear past my butt. OK OK OK I was so uncomfortable I could not even enjoy my massage. I tried to listen to the music to get comfortable but was shut off half way through my massage. I went through it since I knew it would be a hassle and a big ordeal to try and stop and explain myself to someone who did not speak English. Tip? what Tip??? Checking out I was in a hurry to leave, not only it was 10:30 pm on a Wednesday, I was uncomfortable after the massages. I quickly gave the masseuses the two gift certificates and me trying to be nice after what I went through gave them $10 cash for a tip. Low tip, but it was more than what was deserved. Immediately my masseuse demanded for a bigger tip. She pointed to a sign that read "Suggested" gratuity $10. I was taken by surprise. I am giving you something that you don't even deserve nor require for the service. Both masseuses and a male tried to pull out a translator and tell me that I needed to tip bigger. I said we are done and left. They were nice enough to give me a $10 gift certificate, that I wont use, to try and make up for the late start. I will never go back to this place. I don't know how they worked my friends pictures of her bruises off this page, but they managed somehow. For this place to survive, they need to clean house big time. I said softer at least 6 times and he would say ok but continue digging his elbows in just as hard. He had his body up on the side of the table and was pushing his full body weight into me. He also pushed so hard and fast that I couldn't catch my breath. I was suffocating and in pain. I went in to help with my stiff back and headache, now my back and head hurt worse than when I went in. ZenSpa is definitely worth a trip to check them out! They are located right between Cupcakes~n~Crema and Jersey MIkes on the Northwest corner of Hageman and Coffee, behind the McDonalds. ZenSpa offers a number of different services; they do nails, facials, foot massage, and full body massage. I went there today to try out their foot massage services, and boy was I impressed! Upon entering, I was greeting first by a woman, then a man who were very friendly and polite. When I told them it was my first visit, the gentleman gave me a little minitour showing me the room for facials, a room for full body massages, then ushered me into the room for foot massages. The color scheme was muted earth tones, the light was low, and there was background music that was a mix of piano music and ocean surf sounds all of which were very relaxing. There were 6 chairs, arranged in two rows of three each, that were very much like large reclining chairs covered with strategically arranged pillows and fabric covering it all. I lay down on back on one of the chairs and they put a blanket over me and brought a basin of hot water to soak my feet in. While my feet were soaking, my massage therapist started by rubbing my temples, then my neck, and worked down each arm to finish with my hands. He did a surprisingly good job on my feet. I am a competitive dancer and I'm embarrassed to say I'm very hard on my feet. At dance competitions I see the foot reflexologist religiously, but I'm ashamed to say I rarely get them massaged in between so my feet are usually hurting. When this guy was done my feet felt GREAT! After he was done with my feet, he had me turn over on my stomach and massaged my back, shoulders, and thighs right over my street clothes. I left there feeling rested, relaxed, and amazingly refreshed! I was offered a bottle of water on my way out, which was very nice since my reflexologist always insists that I drink water after he works on me, something about flushing toxins out of my system. I was referred here by my friend and hearing that a 1 hour body massage plus 30 min foot massage was only $60 I was sold. It was amazing! I had such a good experience. As soon as I walked in I was immediately taken to a private room by Sonia. She made sure to ask me if her pressure was ok throughout the massage. For such a tiny lady she was able to really get every knot out of my body which is exactly what I needed. The 30 min foot massage took place in a larger room with several beds. It included a head/neck, arm, hand, leg and foot massage. The ambience was all very relaxing with what sounded like Kenny G playing in the background. This spa has changed owners several times, the current owners have a nice place. My wife and I have been here a few times, we have had the one hour body $50, and the 30 min foot 30 min body for $40. There is at least one couples room, maybe more not sure. The massage therapists give good massage, including deep tissue. We feel so good when we leave this place. Parking is OK, there are many places in the evening. Tips: This is a very busy massage store, it is better to call and make an appointment.
