So happy to have a dedicated ramen bar in the Augusta area. We have eaten here several times now and it's great every time. The first time we went we dined in and our service was a little slow. Everyone else around us got their food in a timely manner so I can only assume that maybe our waiter was new. This didn't deter us though, as our actual food was great. I love the Mayu ramen, anything black garlic, I'm down. My only criticism is that I wish it had cloves of garlic in the broth, but that's personal preference based on other black garlic ramens I've had in the past. We have ordered to go at least 2 times and the carry out process has been great. They package everything up separately so your noodles don't get soggy. Went with pretty large group (7 of us). Service was fast and the server was nice. For augusta it's pretty good ramen option. The ramen soup was a tad salty but acceptable. Will definitely be back to try them again and maybe checkout the non ramen options read more

Went during their soft opening. Service was fast and friendly. Server was helpful. Got the potato wrapped shrimp appetizer, really good. For main meal, i got the infernal ramen and husband got miso chicken. Noodles were cooked perfectly. I added more chili oil to my infernal ramen, I thought it was a little on the salty side for the broth but otherwise flavors were there. So I saw this posted on FB and was so excited to finally have a ramen plane to go to. We'll it did not disappoint at all. The atmosphere was tranquil and comfortable. The service was really fast. There was no wait and got sat fast. Cynthis our waitress was awesome and attentive. Well every single thing we ordered was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was top notch. I know it's unfair to compare it to ramen in Japan, but don't expect much depth in the broth flavor. Still, it's probably the best ramen spot around here! I went right when they opened in the morning. The broth was lukewarm, but the noodles were piping hot. I plan to visit again next time. The takoyaki was delicious! read more

Finally got to try the new Ramen Place on Washington Road (across from T-Bones). Cozy interior; my wife and I sat at the bar. We split a small seaweed salad and each of us ordered a bowl of ramen. I went with the Mayu and my wife ordered the Inferno which was spiced just right. The food was delicious and plentiful. One bowl wood have sufficed, but now we have some banging leftovers! First trip here. It was....ok. Appetizers ordered were gyoza and seaweed salad. Both were very good. Especially, the gyoza. Ordered the Tonkatsu ramen. Mediocre. The broth was very flavorful, thick and rich. The noodles were excellently cooked. However, the eggs were overcooked and bland. The chashu pork was dry and flavorless. Which pretty much sunk the dish. The service was the usual disorganization that's common at Augusta restaurants. We ordered our appetizers. My date noticed that about 10 minutes after we ordered them the kitchen put them in the window and they sat there for several minutes until our ramen was also ready. Hence, they were served to us at the same time as our ramen. That no longer makes them appetizers that makes them side dishes. The weirdest part was our server asked if we wanted drink refills. We said sure. We both had Coke Zeros. She returns with one glass full of soda and says "Which ever one of you gets it first! Ha ha!" and just leaves. I had to pour my date's refill which was messy trying to pour from one cup into another. The table next to us waited 20 minutes for their check. My date noticed several other wait staff looking bewildered and out of their element. It wasn't that busy. It wasn't awful, but I'm not dying to go back. The amount of food wasn't worth the price and I mentioned the service. Ramen is quite a process to cook but I can make better and cheaper ramen at home. read more

I am a huge fan of this restaurant, eating there 3 times in a week to share the food and experience with my coworkers and family. I started with a chicken katsu curry and rice. The curry flavor was typical tasty and savory Japanese curry. But, the chicken katsu was WAY over cooked, hard, and with way too thin chicken. Even after smothering that chicken with the curry to try and soften the panko breading, still hard on the chew. Don't recommend the Chicken katsu. My second trip was with my son for a late nite ramen. I had the Tokyo ramen and son ordered Inferno ramen. I loved the shoyu based Tokyo ramen, we both ordered extra noodle - No complaints from me. Son enjoyed the Inforno ramen but was disappointed the spice level did not warrant inferno - but he loves the flavor. My complaint, the added the extra noodles in the bowl instead of separate, the starchiness of the noodles overwhelmed the broth. That applied for both of us. The Third time, I invited my step daughter. I opted for the Hakata Tonkatsu ramen - delicious. Son ordered inferno ramen again and asked for extra spicy, still wasn't as spicy as he wanted but he loved still, added the pepper flakes on the table, helped but still not hot enough for him. Step daughter loves curry, she ordered it. Thought the experience would be better for her but nope, chicken was still excessively hard batter. She opted to not eat the chicken but loved the curry sauce and had it with rice and was happy. Tried their desserts: frozen chocolate mochi and some cream cake, worth it. So, only complaint with Zen is the panko batter and thickness of the chicken in their chicken katsu curry dish. Other wise great restaurant. read more

We were seated at the bar and things were fine until we received our ramen and more customers were sat at the bar. We were given forks and were waiting to ask for chop sticks but the bartender was having a difficult time making drinks and taking orders. We gave up and just ate it with forks and while the broth and noodles were fine my chicken was dry and tasteless. The bartender was still struggling and when our neighbors got their ramen they had to ask for silverware and were handed plastic to go silverware as he mentioned they were out of real utensils? Overheard their order was wrong and we had to flag them down to get our check. Maybe if the food was good we would try it out again but I'd rather go elsewhere. read more

The atmosphere was nice and the bar server was very sweet, friendly and attentive. The prices were absolutely too high for the quality of the dishes and the serving sizes. We spend copious amounts of money on good food every week and this was a one time visit for us. Rice is definitely a side, but it's used as a filler. The bowl I had had 4 parts rice, 1 part beef. The chicken katsu was a breaded chicken cutlet with some rice and curry sauce. And the ramen bowl was no more than maybe 2 cups. All perfectly acceptable serving sizes until you get to the price. The Shumai dumplings were more bread than anything and when I opened it there was a pinky nail size piece of shrimp and nothing else. The fried gyoza was over fried and served with a teaspoon size serving of something that may as well have been water. And the chicken karaage was over- fried pieces of flour dusted chicken with zero flavor besides overcooked chicken. $100 with tip and left very disappointed.
