This is an awesome find just up the road from I-35 if you want yummy Japanese food. Sushi, noodles, yaki meshi or even soup, it has all been soooo yummy! Tried to order delivery but they delivered it to the wrong house (despite telling them the correct address when first ordered) and then refused to bring me my food afterwards because "we were out of distance". Worst experience I've had with any business ever!! read more

Teriyaki sauce had no flavor or spice to it at all. made for a boring " spicy " chicken teriyaki, pretty disappointing.

I have been dining at zen house back when they were in hermantown. Great food. You cannot get better than this. If you want authentic Japanese food here in northern mn, this is the place to go. I love their teriyaki sauce, curry anything is good- love their curry sauce. You cannot beat that. Their pho is good- they only serve it on Thursdays. It takes all day to make the broth Wednesday and then serve it Thursday at 11 am. It takes a long time to make the broth. I can see why they cant make pho every day. It takes forever (done right). I have always had great calif rolls, veggie rolls, and eel rolls. Their fried rice is very flavorful. I have had sukiyaki there and its pretty good. They do require a 2 hour notice. Just call it in the night before if you want it available next day at 11pm Hope this helps and happy eating! read more

I have to preface by saying that I lived in Japan for 8 years, and I was looking for some authentic Japanese food. We were very disappointed with the food. There were a couple things that were somewhat authentic. For example, the korokke was pretty good but they do not give you the tradition pairing of a thick Worcester-based sauce. Instead, they served it with a ginger soy sauce, which is absolutely wrong. Same with the sauce pairing for tempura did not taste right and did not come with the graded daikon radish. The chicken and pork cutlet crusts were over cooked and dark. And again, they did not serve with the requisite Worcester-based sauce. The udon noodle soup was served with some sort of fried tortilla chip strips, which is so wrong. Over all it made everything taste and feel so wrong. read more

I ordered take out and had it delivered via Food Dudes. I had 2 types of veggie sushi rolls--they had nice, fresh vegetables inside and the seaweed tasted fresh as well, but the rice was really mushy. It kind of made a sushi rice paste. I also had the stir fry Yaki-Soba noodle dish with tofu and vegetables, and it was pretty bland. Not overly salty, not overly flavorful, just meh. Half of the vegetables in it were cooked well and the other half were soggy. I won't order take out from here again, but I might possibly visit the restaurant to try something new. read more
