I called Zela Nails in the morning hoping to book a fill with Loann. They let me know she's usually booked, but they were able to fit me in, so I came by around 5:45 pm. The salon was quiet with maybe one other client. Another technician initially sat me down, but as soon as I started showing my inspo photos, Loann said she would take me instead and I'm so glad she did. She recommended a fresh set since I had dip powder and wanted to switch colors, which I really appreciated. I briefly showed her my inspo pictures and told her the length and shape, and she immediately said, "Got it." She was fast, gentle, and incredibly precise. The entire process was flawless not once did the drill touch my skin, which I'm usually very paranoid about. My nails came out *perfect*. Loann is truly an amazing nail tech, and I completely understand why she stays booked and busy. I'd definitely recommend calling ahead to make an appointment. My first visit as a walk in, I was serviced by Thao, I hope I spelled her name correctly- anyway, her station that day was the first station to your right as you walk in the door. I found her to be a very good nail technician, thorough & professional. She doesn't rush to get done quickly, she actually takes time to buff each nail to ensure your nails are smooth which is very hard to find. You will walk out with beautiful shiny smooth nails. I was passing through town; I live in Plumas Lake, CA about 40 miles north of Sacramento. My nail tech has been out of town in Thailand nearly 2 months and she is very good however, I am considering Thao as a go to nail tech for me even though she is a distance away from me...that's how well I like my nails. Went to get a pedicure with the wife. We both had the day off. This only the second time I have gotten one. The first time I think we were in Hawaii and I don't remember it. The place was a nice size and there were a few people already getting worked on inside. My wife made reservations in advance so when we checked in it was only a second before the lady sat me in the tub. I started before my wife but my attendant had to work hard on my poorly kept feet, hahah. She spent more time on my nails and cuticles. Scrubbed away my dead skin and gave me a paraffin too. I think it was 45 minutes. I enjoyed it and tipped her well. Later when I got home I think she cut a little too much in one of my toes because I felt a cut. First time here. I would give this place no star if there was an option. We booked our appointment a week in advance and my sister even confirmed our appointments yesterday. Appointments were scheduled for 5:30 PM for one medi and four pedi. We arrived on time and this place is over booked. I went to use the restroom and there is no toilet seat. It was taken off and placed on the floor. Why would you not have a seat if 90% of your employees and customers are female. Came back my oldest sis and daughter were seated while my little sis and I waited for a free chair. We were okay waiting since they're starting on at least two of us. After 20 minutes goes by, one customer got up and left. She told the male worker by the door this was not right. She had came the day before and was told to come back to today with an appointment at 5:30 PM and she was still not able to get a pedi done. All the guy could say was sorry we so busy. We waited 30 minutes and after I checked on my daughter who was sitting in the massage chair for a pedi, nothing have started for her. No water to soak her feet or anything. I ended up calling OMG Nail Salon and they were able to get the three of us in 15 minutes. Told my daughter to get up and we walked out. Felt bad we left my sis but this place have very poor service. You should not be over booking and taking in walk-ins if you already have people booked. Two ladies who came after us had 6 PM appointments and we were literally just sitting there waiting. Would not recommend this place nor will we be making a drive all the way out here again for this. A waste of time and gas. A woman by the name of Jenny reached out to me via text & she called me after seeing my review and asked me to come back and someone would fix my nails for free. She told me the man who did my nails was new & had only worked there for 2 days. She also told me she would have Mimi do my nails over, as she is one of the best employees there. What I wanted versus what I got were two very different things. I wanted a light army green paint with two flowers on my middle and my ring finger what I got was a light blue with one flower on my ring finger and one flower on my middle finger. By the time that I saw the design it was too late to change anything and she never asked. I did show her my reference picture she glanced at it and then proceeded to make her own design EDIT After they saw my review they did call me back in to redo my nails with a different nail tech. I notice that they treat certain people differently than others. That being said, I went in for a manicure and pedicure, I was seen right away and sat down in a chair. The girl doing my pedicure barely looked at me and didn't say anything to me for quite awhile until asking me what service I wanted. The entire time she's talking to her neighbor, never to me. Nevertheless the pedicure went fine, I don't really need to talk to them but it was pretty rude. When I went to the table to get a manicure same girl (Na) same treatment until she said I should get gel because regular polish will chip. I told her I don't like gel because it damages my nails. She says try dip powder because it's easier on the nails. I said okay and ask how much is it. She tells me $40 and my pedicure was $35, okay no problem. When she finished she said my total is $85, doesn't add up but whatever. The next day my nail chipped, and a few of the nails were bubbly, not smooth. So I go back and the same girl fixed them. Next day after she fixed them, the nails are still bubbly so probably won't go back because they obviously don't care. I'm just gonna have to deal with these messy nails for a couple of weeks. I've come here to have my nails done a couple of times and I intend to keep going! Their pedicure massage chairs are clean and comfortable. Came for my birthday to have a gel mani & regular pedi, both were thoroughly enjoyable. The standout was Kim, the lady who removed my gel mani. She did a great job of getting the polish off without damaging my nails. I went to a different salon last year (husband booked them for me) and the gal who did my removal DESTROYED my nails, left actual divots in several of them. Kim did not! They're a little scratched, but I expected that, so not a complaint at all. Then, she massaged my hands and forearms and it was LIFE-AFFIRMING, Y'ALL. Just what I needed after the hellacious month I've had since getting them done. One star removed because even when I booked an appointment, they left me waiting in the Pedi chair for about 15-20 minutes before even starting to run the water. I had 10am Appt to get pedicure. The pedicure came out great. The nail tech asked me did I want a manicure. I said sure just a basic manicure. When she finished my pedicure she set me up at her booth to do the manicure. All was good till she tells me as she is removing my polish off my nails "I cant do it. I have 11am appt coming." I said ok. No problem. I said I can come back. She told me no no no problem I do for you. I asked if she was sure. But she continued to complain about her appt at 11am will be here; and told me plus you only had spot for pedicure not both,while trying to continue to do my manicure. I looked at the time and told her never mind. I'll come back another day. I don't want to keep you from doing a 15min. Manicure . It was 1050am. I never expected her attitude or shall I say annoyance about a manicure she asked me about while doing my pedicure. I felt it was wrong for her to ask and start it just to complain. I just moved to the neighborhood not too long ago and have been hoping to find a nail salon that is closer to home. I have been to Zela about 4 times now and each time I always get the pedicure and gel manicure. I pretty much let whoever is available to help me since I really don't have a preference. The first three times I had good experiences. I like that the salon looks clean and the prices are pretty reasonable. But the last time I went in, I didn't have a good experience. My pedicure looked a little unevenly painted and didn't look shiny like it's suppose to be. The lady ask me what was wrong since I couldn't stop looking at my toes so I asked for another code of nail polish and turns out the top code she put on my toe nails were wet to the touch 2 hours after I left the salon. I didn't notice until it was much later and I think I know what happened. I think the clear top code she put on was the gel polish and I didn't have an UV light sitting around to fix this issue either. I didn't have time to go into the Salon the next day to have it fixed so I'm just going to go to another salon and pay for another pedicure. Additionally, the gel manicure I got that day was also sloppy, two fingernails have bubbles in it and its very noticeable with the white nail polish. I think this was all around a bad experience. I would say in the past, in my experience with the younger girls, they do a much better job than older ladies. AMAZING. I usually love trying out new salons, so when my friend introduced me to Zela Nails I was excited!! Atmosphere: It's very clean and the decor is classy and simple. Spacious and great for a group. First time: I came to get a pedicure, thinking that the cost would be $30+. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the classic pedicure (the most basic one they have) only came out to $23! With tip, the pedicure still came out to be under $30. The classic pedicure here was great! You'd think that this one was the most expensive one, with the massage chair running, the warm water bubbling, the lotion massage, AND a hot stone leg/ foot massage?? What a deal. Amazing detail to the pedicures as well as for the manicures. The ladies are always oh so nice. They remember all the regulars and make an effort to get to know new customers as well. My favorite nail tech here has to be Mary though! She's always so nice and so fun to talk to when getting my nails done. Her personality and attention to how she does her nails is one of the main reasons I love coming here. The second time I came here, was due to a previous nail disaster at a different salon! I wanted to try out Glamorous Nails to get them done for Ball, and after that mess ($65 down the drain and clumpy nails) my friend called into Zela and asked for them to fix it for me! I was a mess and so upset with all the money that had gone to waste I was crying! However, I ended up going in to Zela around 6 pm and they redid the whole set and kept the shop open past the 7 pm closing time to help me out! Mary was outstanding. She was totally accommodating to everything and ended up giving me a discount because she felt bad about my experience at the other salon (however I made sure to give her a generous tip). Will be forever thankful for that. Though I love trying new nail salons, I've struck gold with this one! This is a wonderful place that cares more about the customer's satisfaction with their nails rather than just the business itself. I have been to this nail salon in the past for both gel manicures and pedicures, starting earlier this year. I got my nails done by Loan and another girl before, but the person for this week was someone else (I forgot her name) and she was not as gentle as Loan, unfortunately. All the times I have been previously have been great, except for recently when I went this week. I went in to get a gel manicure and on one finger, my nail was shorter before so they added a nail tip to make it the same length as all my other nails. On this one nail, when the nail tech was filing it for me, she filed my skin and I got a cut, and my nail itself became detached from the nail bed. It hurt a little bit at the time but I put up with it because I thought the pain would go away. I left and my friend told me that was a really serious thing and I could get an infection, and she told me that I should go back to see what they can do. So I went back and talked to the manager. She looked at my nail and said there is nothing she can do, and no refunds. I told her it was hurting a lot when I pressed on it, and I explained there was both a small cut on the side and the nail was detached from the nail bed. She started telling me that it was an accident, and that this is normal and happens sometimes but goes away within a day? I am very disappointed because things like this should not be considered normal, it is not ok to just say it will get better in a day! She said she didn't want to give a refund back, so I just left and I will not be coming back to a place that doesn't care about their customers. After a couple days, it is still hurting a lot and I think I will have to visit my doctor before it gets worse. I didn't realize that they would be so unwilling to give any sort of compensation and just try to brush it off, so I won't be going back there. The other nail salon nearby, Sunshine Nail and Spa had really nice people and I will be going there from now on. Unfortunately, I hope this doesn't happen to more people and just try to brush it off, but I guess there are still some nail salons that just don't care about their customers. read more

I have been going to Zela's since 2007. I used to work at that Starbucks near them and would get pedicures with coworkers relatively regularly. Not sure if its the same owners but they have revamped the interior a lot since then and prices have stayed very reasonable for what you get. My husband and I get pedicures and our eyebrows waxed a few times a year (should be more often but we just pluck or use the veet strips in between) and they ladies that wax are very nice and professional everytime. The man that usually does the fancy nails up in the front of the building is a bit standoffish and will get the ladies to answer questions if you try talking to him. You can go online to make appointments which is newish and a nice perk. Tips still need to be cash. My one big issue with them happened on Friday... it was really busy there around 3 pm (all but 1 pedicure chair was occupied and 5 people getting nails done. Someone was at the front wanting to pay so one of the ladies at the front pedicure chairs took payment without removing her gloves then went right back to the pedicure... maybe I'm weird but I thought that should have been a no no. All in all we will continue to go here because the staff, for the most part, is really nice and prices are reasonable. read more

It's fall heading into the winter months and I wanted to.see what they have as fall colors. There aren't many new colors to.choose from in the gel colors. Please get more variety of the new colors . Similar to another reviewer, Lily messaged me about my less than stellar experience and asked me to come back in. I'm glad I did because I actually really like my nails now (although they are pretty thick). Lily and Nathan fixed the shape and gave me a little fill. Kia repainted them and I must say, she is awesome! I was a bit skeptical because I had really high expectations based on so many good reviews about her, but she did not disappoint! I would definitely come back to see any of them (and I like that they ask you if you like it before continuing on past the point of no return)! PS it cost $10 for the new paint job, but they worked really hard to give me what I wanted so I thought it was fair (although I did think it would be entirely free tbh; and I'm pretty picky & detail oriented so I don't know if I would ever truly be blown away unless I was paying a lot) read more

First time here and wanted to get a quick regular manicure done. As soon as I arrived, I was prompted to choose a color. I was slightly disappointed with their minimal selection of colors but I found one I liked anyway. Upon being seated, the manicurist helping me kept trying to convince me to do a gel manicure ($25) as opposed to a regular manicure ($12) but I insisted I just wanted the regular manicure. The manicure itself was mediocre but it did the job for me! I LOVED the short hand massage, however! One tip the manicurist actually told me: if you just want to get your nails painted, it would be $6. Also, a regular mani/pedi is $30. The service was alright and at the end of the day, I am content with the manicure I received. I would come back unless I discover a better nail salon I like. read more
