My usual nail salon was busy so they told me to visit their sister location to see if they are available for walk-ins. I called Spectrum Nails prior to arriving and asked if they were available for walk-ins. I stated I did not want a rushed job and if they were unable to take me, that was fine. They told me they were available and told me to arrive within 15 minutes. I arrived at the salon at 12:15pm, told them I had called 15 minutes prior for a gel manicure and standard pedicure. There was some scrambling and then muttering I'm Vietnamese, not knowing I could understand everything they were saying: Lady 1 - "I have an appointment at 1." Lady 2 - "It's OK just rush and get her done. If it looks bad then so be it." Lady 1 - "OK sweetie, I have your footbath ready." At this point, I should've turned around and walked out, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Strike 1 - Water was scalding, needed to tell her to turn it down many times. Rushed the whole pedicure process. Rough with filing and careless use of nail clippers and nippers. I was surprised she didn't cut me. Paint job was decent. Strike 2 - Manicure was rushed. Rough with filing. Didn't care to clip my cuticles. Hang nails galore. Strike 3 - Most careless paint job. Uneven, got all over my cuticles, and lumpy. She would take the polish brush and swipe all over my nail bed. Didn't take the time to clean up the edges. I had to stop her every time before she forced my hand in the UV light to clean off any gel before curing. She ended up filing areas that were cured on my skin with a file that further damaged my skin and cuticles. Had the audacity to stop at 2 coats and I told her in Vietnamese I needed 3 coats in order for the manicure to look acceptable. And with that, it's 3 strikes - you're out. They are luckily they got a tip from me. Really shouldn't be rushing their customers manicures and pedicures if they do not have time. Should really take a tip from their sister shop's book and turn away customers if there aren't enough techs or time. Will not be returning or recommending this salon to anyone. read more

Michelle has done decent work for me this far but my last visit was terrible. My nails have twice broken several days after a fill, and that wasn't a huge deal BUT after paying $140 every two weeks for my fills and pedicure my last pedicure I developed a HUge and painful fungal blister a day after my pedicure on the bottom of my foot. That was really it for me. They're reusing pumice stones and those should be discarded after each client. I won't be returning with my business. Cleanliness is a huge issue for me above craftsmanship. Big loss. read more

I went here with a friend for her pedicure. I had just gotten a pedicure last week somewhere else. I told the lady I didn't want my actual toenails done. Just the soak and massage. My friend chose the $50 pedicure. I was never given the sheet to choose from. The lady said okay just a 30 minute massage. That's fine. I went up to pay and was told I was charged the $50 pedicure price because my friend had chose that for herself. The ladies here are very attentive to you!! I usually don't get my nails done often so when I came in and thought about what to get done, the ladies sat with me and checked my nails to see what would be the healthiest option and what would look good. They made sure I was comfortable and took their time with me, shaping them evenly, making sure coats were even, fingernails were dried properly etc. I came in Friday morning without an appointment and was seated right away! Not sure if I got lucky but they greeted me and made sure I had a seat to go to. It's a very spacious, well-decorated and clean space; I will definitely come back! I wanted to like this place so badly that I gave them 2 chances! The first time I came here was for a pedicure, that was a joke. I just came here again for a fill last week and all of my polish is chipping and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY NAILS have started lifting. 3 of my nails don't have accrylic to the cuticle line like a typical nail should have when it's done, so it looks like it's 4 weeks outgrown already and it hasn't even been a week. The guy said he has been doing nails for over 20 years. LOL. (Insert maurys voice here) The crappy job done on my nails has determined THAT was a lie! When I arrived I asked how long the wait was for a I'll set, I was told 5 minutes so I said okay. I arrived at 1:50 and ended up not being helped until 2:20, so a 30 minutes wait, and during those 30 minutes no one said anything to me. Right before the technician finally came over I almost left as I explained to the technician I have a newborn at home and am on a time limit as I need to get home to feed her. There was no acknowledgment or apology for the wait. As for the nails, she asked me how long, I told her short, as short as possible. Once she clipped them I asked for her to please file a little shorter, she said yeah I will later. I noticed when she was almost done if she was still going to file shorter and she said oh you want shorter.. Once she filed shorter she did not ask the shape or if the length was ok. She never used the electric thing to correct the shape of the fiberglass around my cuticle so I had to ask her after she asked me to wash my hands to please correct the fiberglass that was hanging over the top of my cuticle. There was fiber glass all over my hands and ultimately did a very sloppy job. She even cut my finger and it was bleeding, never apologized just told me to wash without soap.. the shape is not consistent, is not what I would have wanted and looks terrible. For a $40 full set, it was not on the cheaper end of nail salons and it was the worst full set I've received, and I've been consistently getting my nails done for over 15 years. I wish I had the name of the technician but I would take my business elsewhere. read more

It was my first time trying Spectrum Nail Spa. It's located on Elk Grove Florin and Sheldon. I made reservation for six people. Regrettably two didn't show up (The owner was sweet and she didn't get upset for the last minute changes in the number of people). Anyways, this place allowed us to bring our alcoholic drinks. Thanks to the spa, we managed to do our little mimosa and nail party. Overall, I felt the service was great. And they have reasonable prices for pedi/mani $27 with gel. I did the deluxe pedicure $25 (it came with cleansing orange sugar scrub, cooling masque, marble and oil massage) and standard manicure $12 (oil massage, polish of my choice and cleansing of the cuticle). I added flowers on my feet which were extra $5. The spa is nice and clean. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone on a budget. read more

So I've been here once, and once is enough for me to want to come back again. I was being extra picky with what I wanted done with my nails, and the lady who did them listened to what I wanted and didn't bother trying to push additional services on me. I got my old set soaked off, and even tho she used the electric file, she was careful enough not to file down too much of my real nails after most of the fiber Glass was off. Instead of placing a whole new set on my nails with an added fake tip, I asked her to do an over lay with the powder instead. Because my nails were still moderately long, I didn't need any additional length added to them with a fake tip. When she asked why I didn't want just a fill, I told her it was because the last shop I went to didn't do a very good job at filling in my last set and that you can tell when the new powder was placed on top. It made wearing clear-ish colors hard to do because you can see the workmanship of the previous nail salon thru my nails. She was patient with me, and did everything I asked. When I told her to file them down to give them a more natural look, she didn't question me and just followed through with what I wanted. So I'll definitely be returning. read more

So I don't like giving low ratings but this place is around a 2.5 stars. I had an appointment for 12:30pm. I got there early around 12:15pm and waited until 12:40pm before they called me back. While doing my nails everything was fine. Then as she was filing down my polish for my fill she was filing too close to my skin and almost all my fingers began to sting. When came the acetone, my fingers felt like they were all burning. Came to the filing and Tudy shapes my nails ($5) and she cut four of my fingers. Two bleeding the other two not. Basically paid her $5 to cut me. She painted my nails fine. Although Tudy was very nice and caring when talking to me she was very rough and even pushed down on my cuts making it hurt even more. All together the service was somewhat bad. I walked in and a lady just stared at me telling her what i came for. Then as I was getting my nails done the lady continued to get distracted. She even got up multiple times to move a plant to a different spot. Also, she took breaks to check her phone for prolong periods of time and even made a phone call NOT took MADE. She also admitted to getting distracted and began to reshape my nails on the cut making it triple painful. Prices have also increased from the old yelp photo to let people know. read more

I don't always get time to sit down for myself but when I do, I would come here. Quality of service was great when they first opened but definitely not today. My technician was "Xuan" who may have recently graduated from beauty school as her apron was from "My Le Beauty College". She asked if I wanted to trim my nails, I said "yes, just a little bit not too much please". Well, she trimmed a lot off my left toe nail and then proceeded to give attitude when I pointed it out to her. How does she fix a toe nail that's been cut too short? She didn't. She kept on with the service making no eye contact. She started speaking in vietnamese to the technician next to her (I can understand what she said. Saying that I was impatient and that there would be another coat of color). It wasn't the coat of the color that I was so upset about. It was about how friggin short she had trimmed that nail, and now they don't look even at all. The tenured technicians here are pretty good, I've never had a problem with them. I had Kayla and I definitely recommend her! She's nice, has fun, and gets her work done. She made sure I wasn't hurting and helped me make the final decision. There's some minor flaws like a small cut (didn't hurt but I noticed it) and one nail not being as smooth on the sides but overall everything was good. If you don't want to wait as long, make an appointment!! I got lucky and got in before more and more people showed up. Got my nails done a week ago in San Jose, (my real nails with gel nail polish) but my pointer and middle fingers broke later in the week. Almond shaped nails are super sensitive :( Anyways came into spectrum nails and the owner was able to fix the two nails. Made an appointment for my 2 daughters and I (3 people) so we could all get done at approximately the same time but one of my daughters just sat with her feet in the water for almost and hour while my other daughter and I were almost done. I have been here twice. My first experience was mediocre and the second was very poor. Customer service was TERRIBLE. I called and made and appointment for my mom, my sister, and me. The woman on the phone assured me that they would be able to fit us in at the scheduled time. When we got there, there was no one available to do our pedicures. To make it worse, no one even acknowledged us. I asked two different people how long the wait would be and not brushed us off and said "just wait" and then ignored us. We waited for 15 minutes without anyone speaking to us. We just left because they were so rude. The first time I went, it was not busy. My manicure only lasted a few days. The cuticle cutter didn't seem sharp enough, because it looked sloppy and were not trimmed all the way. The establishment itself is clean and looks presentable. Great local nail shop with very kind ladies who take their time to do a thorough and good job, and do not charge a lot at all. $25 for a basic mani/pedi that includes the foot spa, massage chair, foot/leg and hand/arm massage with lotion and hot towel, and even callus scrub for your feet. You can't beat that! Everything is clean and neat, and they maintain their spa well. They've always got quite a lot of nail technicians working, so you won't be sitting in the waiting area for hours. And, they don't try to push additional services on you at all and are very attentive and respectful of what you ask for. They accept credit cards and have a private parking lot.
