The food here was okay, not authentically Moroccan (more than half the dishes were levantine, but I guess the average patron wouldn't know). The best dish of the bunch was the maftoul, which was simple yet tasty. On the other side of the spectrum the panna cotta was terrible, it had little to no flavour and an odd watery consistency. The service also left a lot to be desired, my biggest complaint was that it would take AGES for our food to arrive. In hindsight I understand why there were a lot of corporate gatherings when I was at the restaurant, especially attending around the holidays. It said established in 1919, so we thought it's a good sign it's been in business over a century; although not this location specifically. Their history in the 20th century was that they started in Berlin, Germany in 1919, but they were a Jewish family who ended up immgrating to Israel in 1933, opening their store there, and expanded locations throughout Israel. Their history in Toronto & North America (including some in the US) is much more recent since opening in 2017. Unfortunately, my closest is New York City; none in Maryland or DC area. This location is in busy downtown Toronto. We sat outside on their big patio area as the weather was warm and could enjoy the view of the buildings, people, cars, etc. Server was friendly answering our questions. I ended up getting an egg benedict with salmon in a croissant. It was creative and delicious take on egg benedict. The only issue was it was messy to eat in the croissant, but I didn't care as it was so delicious. I'd heard great things about Milos -- the food, the architecture, the fresh seafood display. Let's…read morestart with what worked. The four-course Sunday Family menu seemed like a great intro, especially after a lot of travel. We were celebrating my wife's birthday with another couple and added the Milos Special and extra Santorini Fava. Highlights: crisp, well-seasoned eggplant and zucchini from the Milos Special, and sublime grilled octopus -- charred outside, tender inside. The lamb chops were delicious, though juices from the steamed veg made the fries soggy. Service is where it fell apart. No one explained that the Santorini Fava was a puree, not whole beans -- tasty, but clearly meant as a dip we never got instructions for. I used it on my lamb instead. At the end of the meal, a passing server (not our actual waiter, who'd vanished) told us the set menu didn't include dessert. We believed them. Then servers brought out one slice of birthday cake with a candle, a great gesture but kind of odd for us all to sit around with this one slice. My wife asked for a few more forks so we could pretend we were eating at the trough, so befitting for this calibre of restaurant right? Our waiter reappeared with a table service à la carte dessert selection we weren't interested in. Only later, at home, did we learn the set menu actually included dessert -- karydopita or seasonal fruit. Another service disappointment that sours one's taste. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet our waiter disappeared repeatedly. What was with that? We looked, he wasn't serving others. No surprise there's no Michelin star or Bib Gourmand here. The food was mostly excellent, but the service was unacceptable for this tier. We won't return, and we'll warn friends off. Management should follow up with our waiter, Margelo, to see if this was a one-off.

Honestly, I'm impressed every time I visit. Aside from the speed, price also plays a role. I generally settle on the beef and chicken mixed plate, and considering the price I find this combo hard to beat elsewhere. As far as quality goes, the food is great but it is fast food, so don't expect a Michelin-star restaurant. Overall, the quality is comparable to other take out shawarma restaurants you'd find in Toronto.

It was probably about 15 minutes between the time I ordered and when I got the food, so this is clearly not the place to go if you're in a rush. But I'd say the food was worth the wait. That cheese crust is the obvious star of the show here, while the fresh, soft bread is also quite delicious. The other components are tasty too, but the patty itself is the weakest link. Unfortunately, they don't allow you to switch your carbs to a salad, thus forcing you to pay an additional $3, for a salad and yogurt. That works out to be almost $20 with a soda... a bit pricey given this is more of a take-out fast food joint. The food is alright. Pretty average, typical Persian food.
