Had to try Zaxby's - never heard of it until we got to the Carolinas. My husband had the house salad with grilled chicken. Very good. I had seen rave reviews about Zax Sauce so I ordered chicken tenders they were very tasty with the sauce. They had a special - half off a milkshake so I ordered a chocolate one for us to share. When my husband picked our order the shake wasn't there. He thought maybe they were still making it. He went back up a couple of minutes later to ask and our counter person had forgotten. After I left with my order we noticed the fries were missing I came back in and was directed to a shift supervisor she told me if I wanted fries I would have to wait in line and buy them like everyone else. The new restaurant is great, no more traffic out into the main road to get your chicken fix! The service here in the new building is great but apparently people need cones to keep them from hitting the damn building. The chicken has also improved in the new building. Highly recommend but get rid of the cones. read more

if i could leave a 0 star review, i would. this was, honestly speaking, the most RANCID food i think i've ever had in my life. first of all, they made me wait for a good 15 minutes for food that wasn't even good. like, i physically couldn't find it in myself to eat it. i would've puked. to start off with, the fried white cheddar bites tasted like OLD OIL. so much so that even drowning them in marinara sauce didn't help. pathetic. don't even get me started on these fried pickles. i didn't even dare to try them just because of the sheer STENCH and ODOR they were emitting. literally made me gag. i can't even describe how disgusting these smelt. i thought, at least my chicken tenders will taste okay because they're drenched in sauce - NOPE i was WRONG. they also tasted like old oil...the sauce tasted like a singular grain of salt placed atop hot garbage. the fries were okay. the bread was stale. staff was okay. forgot to mention, this is the SIXTH time of the course of THIS year that i've gone to this PARTICULAR zaxby's and the food has tasted like old oil. Every region of the country has its own places that serve those few specific things. For some it is Bush's Chicken or Raising Canes serving up chicken tenders. If you have lived in the South then you know Zaxby's has dominated this area of fast food for many years. No disrespect to Chick Fil A as they control the chicken sandwich trade. When it comes to chicken fingers it is Zaxby's and they are slowly making their way into the southwest. On a recent trip I decided to grab a bite to eat from this place and it has not changed since the last time I ate there. That is not always a good thing. The place still stays busy and it is starting to show its years at this particular location. A good refurbish would definitely help but one thing remains is that the food remains just as good. There are plenty of options as far as how you can get your chicken from just regular tenders, flavored tenders, chicken sandwiches, and salads. The portions still remain huge and you will definitely not leave hungry. I believe the food is cooked as you order because it always comes out hot and most of all correctly. read more

This place has spoiled me for hot wings and everything else chicken (except the chicken sandwich, that honor belongs to Chic-fil-A). The food is a little expensive but you get a pretty big portion. For example, a 5-piece of buffalo strips (which will be served with a few carrot & celery sticks) will run around $4-5 but they're big pieces and will fill you to the point of wondering whether you can finish all 5. A 10-piece will guarantee you leftovers to snack on later. My wife has gotten the Zalads (SIC) and they come on a huge platter. She claims they're just as filling as any other item on the menu. The sauces come in a variety of heat intensities and flavors, each with a creative little name. I think 'Nuclear' is the one I like best. Preparation isn't as quick as 'fast food' but doesn't take as long as a restaurant. read more

Best chicken tenders in the world! Their zaxby sauce compliments the chicken perfectly. This establishment is very clean, including the restrooms. Friendly help and quick service. Food was hot and fresh and delicious! My only complaint, we don't have zaxbys up north. read more

Here we go, The food is actually very good; However the restaurant is not clean at all, I would actually go as so far as to say it is dirty. I ordered the "wings and things" like I almost always do GREAT sauces fresh Coke products to drink, with that really good small almost crushed ice (which is my favorite) But everything inside has a sheen of grease on it, the tables, the walls, even the windows. The seats while comfortable and ample in size are sticky with grease. There floors are very dirty and stained, the walls are also dirty and stained, just look around when you are in their look past the very good food and look at the overall cleanliness of the restaurant or should I say the lack there of. They received an "A" grade which makes me think if that is an "A" Oh my God what would a "B" look like. Positive note the staff are very nice and friendly. I had a good experience at the Zaxby's in Sumter tonight. The staff were really friendly and the food was delicious! My friend wanted her traditional wings cooked a little crispier and the manager had no problem satisfying her request. She was very nice, friendly, and competent. The only slight problem I had was the cleanliness of the place. The restrooms were fine, but the walls behind the counter were a little greasy and brown. They could really use some degreaser and a little wiped down after closing. Other than that, they did a great job! read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE AND THEIR CHICKEN! When my boyfriend told me about this place, I was a bit skeptical. I ordered the bbq chicken strips and my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Kickin' sandwich.
