I am formally expressing my disappointment regarding a recent experience at the Knightdale location. My order included a Signature Sandwich that was supposed to be dipped in the Sweet & Spicy sauce with a side of Garlic Parmesan sauce. Neither request was completed correctly. After noticing the inaccuracies, I called the store to discuss the issue and seek a resolution. Unfortunately, the interaction only escalated my frustration. A woman named Jacqueline answered the phone and continuously spoke over me while I attempted to explain the issue. Throughout the conversation, she was combative, overbearing, and unprofessional rather than working collaboratively toward resolving the concern. I requested to speak with a manager, and Jacqueline stated that she was the manager. I then asked to speak with the store manager, but she refused to provide a contact number or any alternative way to reach him. I also requested contact information for the franchise owner, and Jacqueline incorrectly stated that Zaxby's is not a franchise. I have been a loyal customer of this location for the past 13 years and am extremely disappointed by the lack of customer service, professionalism, accountability, and willingness to resolve a simple issue. I've been here probably about 5x since moving to this area, and the food is really hit or miss. Sometimes I get lucky and it's piping hot, but most of the time it isn't. I always go through the drive thru, and it's usually pretty slow. No matter how slow it is, I won't go inside. I just entertain myself on Facebook or whatever. The service is from the order taker to the payment taker in the drive thru. The food quality is the issue. I always get a kiddie finger with fries and a drink. Needed something quick so I went to this location. At first I was a little worried because the parking lot was empty but I found out they had the parking lot repaved. Staff were friendly and I received my food quickly. Only thing I don't like is the sliding automatic doors they have started using. They show too much of the restaurant. Only negative I will say is a staff member was making drinks while drinking a milkshake herself. That should have been done out of customer sight. Never disappointed when I decide to follow my craving to Zaxbys. On occasion I will hesitate because of the line they usually have, but it clears up pretty fast and the positive, friendly attitudes of the employees definitely helps the wait time. They have been quick with getting the orders served and sent out every time I've visited, and if someone else's order is ready first, they politely let you know, walk behind your car to deliver their food and then thank You for your patience with them. We went on a Saturday evening and the drive through line was really long. We decided to dine in. The clerk was friendly and helpful. We got our drinks at the self serve fountain machine while we waited for our food to be prepared. The machine had several drink options. There are several booths and tables in the dining area. Televisions are also in the dining area. We got our food fairly quickly. I ordered the Caesar zalad with fried chicken and Caesar dressing. I was given a large zalad portion and two packets of dressing. I felt like I was given more croutons than chicken. The zalad was edible but I would not order it again. The staff picked up our tray that the food was served on when he walked by but there was food on the seat and on the floor by the booth that we sat in. Food was also in the booth next to ours. I've been coming to this Zaxbys with my family for years and everything we order is always wrong. First they can't get the order right and I have to repeat it MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY STILL GET IT WRONG! Biased and culturally irresponsible staff. Horrible customer service. Earlier today I asked to see a manager after E (an employee) asks for my name and I tell her "Gloria". Yet she says "Maria". I make eye contact and say "No, Its Gloria. Did you get that? GLORIA." E nods her head and continues to take my order. When I get to the drive-thru window, the employee at the window says "order for Maria". I ask to see a manager to explain how E just used her personal held bias to label me as "Maria" based on my appearance as a brown skinned Latina. The manager says E cannot hear from one ear very well. I replied, that E did NOT have a problem getting my long order correct and she also did NOT mistake me for "Lori" or any other name that rhymes with Gloria. If anyone wonders why this is such a BIG deal to me it is because since I moved to the USA 37 years ago, people that "look like" E consistently mistake my name for "Maria". This needs to stop. I ordered 2 boneless wing combos. Both where cold. Barely has sauce on them. My fries were soggy. I called and complained to a manager by the name of krystal and she didn't care. This Zaxby's is TRASH. I really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but their staff on certain days has no customer service acumen, counting is a challenge for the chicken finger plates (unless it's a big Zax snack where you receive 3 fingers, you can expect you will not receive an accurate count.), and very inconsistent with how well the chicken is cooked. Tonight I called to speak with a manager because my salad was a mess (hot chicken containers placed on top of my salad which was heated up and caused a hot chicken salad, chicken crumbs and very little lettuce) and I was told by Lisa (a manager) that it is Zaxby's policy to place salads under hot food because heat rises. She also went further to say that her GM made the salad which to me shows that their opinion of the level of quality standard is quite low. She then said I'm not sure what you would like for me to do, but you can bring the salad back and we can make it over for you. Now WHY would I take that chance again at that establishment? I wasn't asking for money back or replacement food for free. Just take the information provided and put out a better product. The girls at the drive thru were kee keeing off to the side so no receipt was received either. I do not recommend this Zaxby's. My husband brought me here because he knows how much I love good salads and he wanted me to try it. I loved it!! I got the Blue Salad with blackened chicken. The chicken was tender, juicy, and delicious. I was delighted that the blackened seasoning wasn't overpowering like some restaurants make it. It had just the right amount of heat. The salad was filled with crisp, fresh vegetables and crunchy fried onion straws. It was also topped with a generous amount of delicious, creamy bleu cheese. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal!! I wasn't super crazy about their Texas toast, as I've had better Texas toast from the freezer section of Walmart. But I would go back there again and again for that delicious salad. The cashier (Emily) had her back turned away from me when I approached the counter. I waited momentarily for her to turn around. She simply stood there silently staring me in turning around. She did not greet me by welcoming me to Zaxby's nor did she inquire how she could be of service in taking my order. I greeted her nonetheless in saying, "Hey how are you doing today?" She remained unresponsive despite my genuine inquiry. I considered just walking out and saving my money but I was extremely hungry and short on time. Consequently I simply ignored the nonsense placed my order. I stepped over to the waiting area immediately there-following. A Caucasian gentlemen walked in and approached the counter as I waited. I was baffled to say the least because she immediately smiled and welcomed him to Zaxby's without hesitation. That in itself was damning to me given that I am a minority. To make matters worse, she did not thank me for my order nor invite me to come again in handing me my food. I was so disgusted in leaving the establishment that I literally tossed my food in the trash receptacle upon exiting. I did so because I did not feel welcome in their establishment. Given that premise, I did not feel comfortable eating anything prepared by Emily in the least bit. I do not have enough information to definitively state that Emily is racist. I can however hypothesize that she is based off of this afternoons experience. I absolutely love coming to Zaxbys! The one in Knightdale is so kind and very helpful but today I came around 7:30 I had an online order which was very quick and easy but I get home and my whole order is wrong. The receipt is right but they were very careless with my food. I ordered 20 boneless wings nuclear, and I got 20 wings with no sauce. I was very upset. Then my teas I ordered were wrong as well. I hate to leave a bad review considering I eat here at least 2-3 times a week. read more

It is what it is. If you are expecting a fine dining experience, you will be disappointed. That being said, Zaxby's is in our usual rotation. Too slow for fast food, fast for a nice sit down restaurant. The wait can be a bit long at times depending on who is working evidently. Of all of the times that I have been there, I very seldom see the same employees. The tenders are decent, and the wings are ok. The Caesar Salad used to be good, but I have not ordered one in quite some time. I do not know what they put in the "Zax Sauce" but it must be addictive!!!
